A miracle is defined as a supernatural event, not merely an unlikely one; therefore, an event that is statistically improbable but occurs naturally cannot be classified as a miracle, as supernatural claims require evidence of supernatural causation rather than just low probability.

Why Remarkable Events Don't Make Them Miracles | Matt Dillahunty & Brady GoodwinAdded:
Hey Toy, welcome to the show.
>> Hello.
>> Hi. We can hear you. What's up?
>> Um, I was uh ask I'm going to talk.
>> We lost you, Toy.
You try this again.
>> Oh, hello.
>> Are you there, Toy?
>> There you go.
>> You want to talk about You want to talk about miracles?
Yes. Uh so um I I got a I got a friend who he shot himself.
Then uh and then suddenly Shadon said in the head and uh he he almost died and uh he was in a hospital for uh uh maybe a month or so and he was um uh suffering from depression and Um then a couple of guns um like God woke him up and he he he told himself that if God uh uh wake wakes me up then there's nobody can. So, so how what view and does God um put some I'm I'm having a little difficulty following, but you have a friend who shot himself, almost died, suffered from depression, and then God woke him up and he said, "If God wakes me up, nobody can." Um, I let me see if I understand this.
Are you suggesting that your friend shot himself in the head, was essentially comeomaos, whatever, nonresponsive, and that God woke him up and only God could wake him up is, and you're claiming that's a miracle.
We're not hearing you, so you'll have to tap your phone to wake it back up.
>> Hello.
>> Yes, I hear you now.
You know it if if it is a miracle then or it's not it is or or some kind of a supernatural event that happened to him.
What do you think? How would you tell do you believe in those?
>> No. How would you tell if it's supernatural or not?
Well, well, it's they that are what they call miracles.
It's something supernatural has happened.
>> So, I I I I know that the definition of a miracle is that something supernatural has happened. What I'm saying is your friend shot himself and eventually woke up, recovered.
What What about that is supernatural?
Um because it is maybe the probability it's going to be alive is very very slim. So it's uh >> is that is that what means something is supernatural if it's just unlikely?
>> Yeah.
>> See? Yeah. Yeah. Something unlikely to be alive. So maybe he has a chance a 1% chance to be alive.
>> No. So, >> no, something is supernatural only when it's confirmed that it is supernatural in nature. Just because something's unlikely naturally doesn't mean that it's more likely supernaturally.
Nobody's ever demonstrated that the supernatural is possible. So, if something only has a 1% chance naturally, you can't say it's more likely to happen supernaturally because you can't demonstrate that there's a greater than 1% chance that it's supernatural.
So what it what what do you think it is then? So not many people are they they they shot themselves to the head or committing suicide. That is going to be >> a few people quite a few people have attempt quite a few people have attempted suicide and survived including people with firearms including people with firearms to the head. Um, I mean, I don't know what the odds are, but in order to claim that it's a supernatural miracle, you'd have to show that the odds are more likely that it's supernatural than not.
>> So, what do you think it's what is the answer for that?
>> I don't know.
>> Oh.
Okay.
Uh I I have a questions about hell. So I What do you think the answer is?
>> What What do you think the answer is?
Uh for me maybe it's just um when when when the the great uh that that those odds or one person is going to be alive. It's for me maybe it's it's only a a lucky a lucky guy who just uh wake Hello.
>> We're here. We're here.
>> Hello.
He's being lucky. That's that's all.
>> Okay.
Well, I think that's true. Whether it's a miracle or not, he's lucky, >> right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. For me, it's being it's being lucky. If it's not miracle, he's being lucky. So, because uh they said all the doctors said that is he is very unlikely to survive. So it's been others others say there's miracle though others say he's lucky.
>> Okay.
What what was your you also mentioned something about hell.
>> Yes. Um so so I'm that the connection to the guy if he said if uh he he he died he he he committed suicide.
So suicide is uh uh against uh against uh it's like murdering yourself. So you will go directly to to hell. You and the guy said that he accepted the the Lord Jesus Christ is is in a lord and and savior. So he he he made it. So he g he is given uh a a second chance to to survive.
uh and for me for myself I was and I'm asking uh a a lot of uh Christian denominations claim that they they they they all the religion is is um the only religion or the the only denomination that that that can go to to to to heaven. So So there are many I I'm I am quite confused because there's so there's a lot. So I cannot uh uh understand on how they they claim that they are uh the right one. So I I know that you don't believe in >> Hold on, Toy Brady. What one what's the justification that different religions use for claiming their view of how you get to heaven is the right one?
>> Um >> some religions >> the mo most I'm asking so that he can answer the question.
>> Yeah. Several religions justify their salvation schema by saying a god revealed it to them and them only or their prophet only. Uh some religions say no there are other ways to hell.
There each religion has their own way but they all lead to the to the same place. So every religion is going to have their own justification.
>> Yes. for for for what for what my uh uh others say the the pastor say that the you you you Jesus Christ and you will be saved and you accept Jesus Christ in your heart then you'll be saved and um uh you you those uh when you do good it it is the result of your being uh saved. So it is uh evidently you you you go to heaven.
>> Kind of lost here.
>> Yeah. So Toy, there are different religions that make different claims and so far as I can tell, none of them have been able to prove that their claims are the correct ones. It'd be nice if somebody would call in. I I wish there was a a theist or a Christian out there uh who cared enough about Toyy's soul and my soul and Brady's soul, which I don't even think we have, but it'd be nice if one of them cared enough about that to call in and say, "Here's how here's what you must do to be saved, and here's how you can know this is the right answer." I mean it's been ages that we've been asking and saying hey um what what you know I mean like even in the Bible Jesus has asked you know master what must I do to be saved um this is a common you know common question in in religions where there's something to be saved from or to and nobody wants to call in like this is why I'm going to let you Toy, but I I appreciate the call. Um, this is one of the reasons why we often do debates or have calls about does God exist?
Because I'm I'm going to tell a story I told before, but I'll keep it really brief.
One of my all-time favorite debates was between Matt Slick and Jesse, whose name I always forget. I'm so sorry. I I should look it up. I reference it too often. They're both Christians and they're both having a debate about sotiology. Soteriology, by the way, is the study of what you must do for salvation.
Um, and they were basically pulling out Bible verses that supported their view inter Bible verses import interpreted the way they interpret him support their view. And then the other guy would do the same thing but with different verses. And at no point were they saying, "Ah, you've misunderstood this verse. Here's how you can know that that verse means this." Um although to be fair, I have seen ministers do that.
There's plenty of plenty of times when they'll get into debate arguing say, "No, no, no. You've misunderstood what this means. You misunderstood what grace means in this context or what neighbor means in this context." And those are weird little nitpicky theology discussions that you might just say, why on earth would anybody ever need to have those? Why can't God be clear enough that two people who believe and love God couldn't get it right and just agree on it? That's pretty weird.
But that debate, they didn't do that. It was, we both got this book. I'm gonna pick these verses and say they support me and you're going to pick these other verses and say they support you.
Go back and look in all the time, not not just the the you know the show on Wednesday nights, um the Sunday shows, everything else, what we get are a bunch of a bunch of frauds, a bunch of people, you know, just trolling. It's very rare that we get sincere believers from any religion.
Um, but even within Christianity, even where, you know, they're required under 1 Peter 3:15 to give an explanation for the faith that's within them, where they're given a great commission in two different gospels to go out and spread the good word, where the Bible itself talks about what one must do to be saved. Um, they don't seem to have any way of saying, I think the path to salvation is this. I think it because X, whether it be the Bible or divine revelation or whatever, and then follow that up with, and the reason I think it's true, and you should think it's true, is this.
I I've been waiting.
Hello. And that was, if I had to say, probably the worst clip I have ever seen on the line. Frankly, that was terrible because they say a lot of facts, but we have alternative facts on our side. Now, do remember that if you are seeing me next to some woman who frankly not impressed, but if she were to laugh, that would be an endorsement of me.
Donald Trump, a laugh is an endorsement.
So, do not smile or your face will crack. Don't do it. You can't do it.
Okay. I really thought she would break by now. So, it's kind of ruining the bid I'm trying to do here. But, you can like, you could subscribe. Oh, there it is. She endorsed me.
