When a driver shows signs of impairment such as confusion, disorientation, and inability to recall an incident, police officers must carefully assess whether the situation involves intoxication, a medical emergency, or both, and follow proper legal procedures including obtaining consent for medical evaluation, conducting field sobriety tests, and potentially making an arrest for DUI if probable cause is established.

Abusive Obnoxious 63 Y.O Baddie Karen Crashes 3 Cars & Throws Nasty Toddler Tantrums When CaughtAdded:
So, today we've got a situation that starts off as a simple crash, but quickly turns into something much more confusing. The officer arrives expecting a routine scene, but very soon it becomes clear that something just doesn't feel right here.
>> Hang on.
You have to hold me up.
>> Why do we have to hold you up?
>> Because I'm strapped.
>> Because right from the first few seconds, the officer notices something unusual. [music] >> Do you have any medical disabilities or any mental health issues?
>> Really, you guys?
>> What?
>> Oh, please. Come on.
>> And what the driver says next only makes things more unclear.
>> Oh my god. [ __ ] Oh, come on. Son of a >> What are you doing trying to start your car? It's not going anywhere.
>> I'm serious, man.
>> Do you have Where's your fob?
>> to go home. I have a puppy in there.
>> Where is your fob?
>> I'm sorry. I don't have my fob. I'm sorry.
>> But when she tries to restart the car, the situation crosses a serious line.
Now, without wasting any more time, let's jump straight into the video and see how everything unfolds, right?
>> 911, where is your emergency?
>> Hi, there's a motor vehicle accident. I just wanted to report.
>> Okay, the corner of uh >> I'm trying to figure out where I even am. Sorry, we called. There's a big car accident.
>> Ma'am, do you need any uh ambulance or any medical services?
>> I don't.
>> Okay.
>> I just want this thing to go away so I can get home.
>> You want to get home?
>> don't mind.
I just live across the street.
>> Okay, where the car >> Uh I'm kind of shook up.
>> Okay, just sit tight.
>> Wait for a sec, okay?
>> Yeah, I'm trying.
>> Where are you coming from?
>> Right down the street.
>> Where's that? Just sit tight, okay? Your car can't drive. It's got a broken axle.
Did you hit your head at all?
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> all.
Can you get this off of me?
Like freaking me out.
I just live down the street.
>> Okay.
>> I just want to go home.
>> Okay, well, we're going to try and facilitate that, but we got some stuff we got to do.
>> What the [ __ ] happened?
>> Well, that's what I'm hoping can tell me.
>> I I can't I don't have an answer for that.
>> You don't have an answer?
>> No.
>> Okay. Well, where were you Let's Let's try to work this out. Where were you coming from?
>> Down the street.
>> Where's down the street? What way What road were you on? Were you on this road or this road?
>> understand what happened.
>> I'm trying to work this through with you so I can figure it out. Do you know if you were on this road here?
>> I was on this road.
>> You were on this road here?
>> That's correct.
>> Okay, where were you coming from?
>> Down that road.
>> Okay, what where down that road? Was it a building? Was it a dance >> It was just a road.
>> But what Where were you What were you coming from? A house? A business?
>> A business, perhaps.
>> What kind of business?
>> That That was a long ago. I mean, what are you asking for?
>> I'm trying to figure out how we got to this position that we are in. What building are you coming from? What business are you coming from?
>> I wasn't coming from a business. Look.
>> So, you left your house earlier and just drove around?
>> Yes.
Could you please All right.
I'm upset.
>> I I understand. You have a right to be.
You're just involved in a car crash. I I understand.
>> even know know the car crash would have been. It's >> You have no recollection of being in a car crash?
All right. Do you have insurance?
>> Yes.
>> Can I see your insurance?
>> Yes. I can get the insurance.
>> Do you want to go on the other side?
>> No, you can pull us out. Yeah, you can You can have whatever >> She said no. You're just going to front.
She doesn't even know she was in a car >> No.
>> Two, can you run my next just to check out one of these drivers here cuz >> Have you noticed what the officer is trying to establish first? Orientation and basic awareness. And right now, she's not just confused about the crash.
Her behavior seems strange. Like she appears disconnected from reality itself. Uh do you know that this immediately raises concerns far beyond simple reckless driving? Uh at that point, the officers may start considering possible medical, mental health, or impairment-related issues as well.
>> Just come on, watch your step, folks, so I can cut this out.
>> Well, I don't know how to do this.
>> I don't I'm going to cut this out, but I don't want to poke you with the knife.
So, step out of the car for me real quick.
Just stand over here with my partner.
>> What happened?
Seriously.
>> We're trying to figure out out. Stand over here with my partner.
>> This is ridiculous.
>> Move over here, ma'am.
Once you stand over here.
>> second.
Let me catch my breath, please.
>> Okay.
>> You have everything you need in here.
>> Ma'am, I'm not going to go through all your paperwork. Can you please step out of the car and stand with my partner here, so I can cut this out for you?
>> I'm not I'm not feeling well, so >> Okay, I have medics coming to check you out.
>> I don't need medics.
>> Well, you're involved in a car crash, you have no recollection of being in a car crash, you don't know what happened, and now you're and you're saying you're not feeling well. So, let me cut this out. Stand over here, please.
>> I can't.
>> Okay, well, then I can't cut that out for you.
>> Cuz I'm 63 years old, and I can't >> Okay.
>> I can't get out.
>> Do you have any medical disabilities or any mental health issues?
>> Really, you guys?
>> What?
>> Um, please, come on.
>> What?
>> I what what?
>> talking about?
>> Oh my god, you guys.
This is ridiculous.
>> What way did they say she was coming?
>> She was going to turn [music] She was She was going to She was trying to turn north here.
She was.
>> She was going east.
>> Trying to turn north up here?
>> Yes. And this girl was just going west.
>> Okay, and that's what that makes sense then.
>> Um, so she's saying she came from over there.
>> Now, it may look like a possible DUI, but officers also have to [music] consider something else, right? Is this intoxication, a medical emergency, or both? And that's why medics are being called. When a driver cannot recall the crash and struggles with basic awareness or movement, the police have to slow down and reassess the entire situation.
And at the same time, many people feel little sympathy in cases involving impaired driving because drunk driving can put innocent lives at serious risk.
That's the concern at the center of these situations.
>> All right, and I'm just going to take this information down here.
>> My bad.
>> Okay, do you see what's going on here?
>> I wasn't here. Yeah, I see your airbags deployed, so that's You know what? I'll take the crash part of this.
>> She's a refusal.
>> Well, we can't take her. Obviously, she >> She's a refusal.
>> Refusing. She seems like you know.
>> I Medically, she seems fine, but >> she's a juvenile, so I can't take her.
We can't take her.
>> Except for the crash part.
>> Yeah.
>> Your car's really messed up.
>> It's quite messed up.
>> You got to go. I don't care at all.
>> You have damage on your passenger side all and all your airbags are deployed.
>> Brooke, why don't you step out of the car? Let me show you something. Step out of the car. Come here.
I know. I know.
>> As you're getting out, I'm going to get your signature real quick, if that's okay with the officer.
>> Yeah.
>> All right, do you want that driver's >> I actually have it.
>> You got it? Okay, come on.
>> All right, real quick signature. This is letting me know that hey, we came to check you out. You don't want to go to the ER and be seen in the hospital.
>> All right, now now what?
>> Brooke, I want to show you something.
>> Thank you.
Oh, no.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, gosh.
Hang on. You got to hold me up.
>> Why do we have to hold you up?
>> Because I'm shocked.
Me.
>> Yeah, you can't drive this car.
>> God damn it.
>> Do you have a coat or anything in your in your car that could keep you warm for right now?
I need to ask you a question, okay? And did you have any alcohol to drink tonight?
>> No.
>> Did you have any alcohol?
>> No.
>> Any narcotics of any sort as well?
>> I don't do narcotics.
>> Do you take any prescription medication?
>> No.
>> And now the investigation starts moving quickly, right? Medics have cleared the immediate medical concern, allowing officers to focus on possible impairment. Notice how they uh transition calmly, almost casually, into questions about alcohol and drugs.
That's deliberate. Like, before any field sobriety tests begin, police are already building the foundation for what could become a DUI case. [music] As she appears to be slurring her words, she's stumbling and showing signs that many people would associate with intoxication.
>> Do you not take any prescription medication?
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> Oh my god. Mother [ __ ] Come on. Son of a [ __ ] >> Hey, what are you What are you doing trying to start your car?
>> It's not going anywhere.
>> Where are your keys at?
>> I don't have keys.
>> How >> I have a fob.
>> I My my sincere apologies for assuming you had keys.
>> I'm serious, man.
>> Do you have Where's your fob?
>> to go home. I have a puppy at home.
>> Where is your fob?
>> I'm sorry. I don't want to touch you.
>> Let me see your key fob.
>> man. You guys. Come on. What the hell happened?
>> Thank you. I'm going to hold on to this for now, okay?
>> Just for now.
>> Yes. Well, no. But, are you taking this one?
>> Yeah.
>> I'll just Where's the keys? She's trying to drive it.
>> I just want to go home.
>> Okay, you're not free to leave right now until we get this all sorted out.
>> I get it.
>> Hey, ma'am, what are you trying to do?
You're trying to start it again?
>> I'm trying to get rid of this.
>> Well, you were just trying to start it and then >> Oh, I didn't know.
>> Your Your keys >> know how this works.
>> Do you take prescription meds for anything? I'm not related to this at all. I'm just I'm just generally curious. Do you take You don't You don't take prescription meds, okay?
>> Yeah.
>> Do you consume alcohol at all at any time?
>> On occasion.
>> Okay. What were you out and about doing tonight?
>> I was going to get cabbage.
>> You're going to get cabbage?
>> Cabbage and my uh >> Why don't you come on over here? I'm going to have you sit in the back of this car where it's warm.
>> I ain't getting out.
>> While they're towing your car.
>> Why?
>> Because you can't drive your car.
>> No, that's okay. I can just go to across the street.
>> I'm asking you to sit in the car where it's warm, okay? It's either sit on the side of the road or sit in the car.
>> on the side of the road.
>> Okay, that's all right. You go sit over here just on this corner here then.
Brooke, go stand They have to tow your car. Brooke, out, please. Out.
>> Hang on. Hang on. Hang on.
>> I've given you a lot of time.
>> neck.
>> I understand that, but it's time for you to go either stand on the side of the road or it's time to sit in the back of the squad and stay warm until I can get you your paperwork. What do you want to do?
>> Paperwork for what?
>> Why are we here? Do you know what happened tonight?
>> No.
>> You have no idea why we're in this situation and why you're sitting here in the car talking to a police officer.
>> That's correct. No.
>> You were in a car crash. I told you this multiple times.
The car's got towed just like yours is.
So, are you going to sit in the back of the squad or are you going to stand on the side of the road?
>> Where can I be warm?
>> In the back of the squad.
>> And now the safety risks becomes impossible to ignore, right? She's actively trying to restart a disabled crash vehicle while having no memory of why the police are even there. Legally, officers cannot just allow that to happen. It honestly seems like she doesn't even understand what happened here. You would think that at her age, there would be more um awareness, responsibility, which is why some people find this kind of behavior deeply frustrating.
>> Are you arresting me?
>> I would have told you that you're under arrest if I was going to place you under arrest. You're not under arrest. You're just not You're just not free to leave right now because we have to finish our investigation. Okay, come on. Let's Let's go stand over here.
>> Can you hold my hand?
>> Yes, let's go.
>> Okay.
Easy. Easy. Easy.
>> I'm not pulling.
>> I just don't want to >> Just go around the back. She can go sit in the back of the squad. Actually, you know what? Let's go over here. Let's go to this one. Let's go back over here.
>> You guys are scaring me.
>> Just have a seat in the back. You're not under arrest. You are just simply staying warm. That's all you're doing.
>> That's all I want.
>> Everything is audio and video recorded.
Just go ahead and have a seat, okay?
>> Yes.
>> All right. I'll be right back to talk to you.
>> Oh, thank you.
>> Okay, what's that? Hold on, hold on, stop. No, no, no. Sit down for a sec.
>> Hang on. No, I need my wallet.
>> I have it. I have it. I have it. I have it.
>> No, this is not right.
>> Here, hold on, hold on. Do me a favor.
>> This is not right.
>> Please do not touch me, okay?
>> I'm sorry.
>> What I want you to do is I want to take a deep breath in and blow on this. Blow. Blow. I'll hold it. I'll hold it. Ready? Deep breath in like you're blowing a balloon. Blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow. No, no. I'll I'll help you work. Ready?
>> Yeah, I'm okay.
>> Is that No, no. No.
>> Told you.
>> Try one more time. Keep going until I tell >> you I'm okay.
>> Keep going until I tell you to stop.
Ready?
Blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow.
>> I'm I'm legal.
>> We're going to try this one more time.
I'll hold it.
>> did it. Three times.
>> nice steady blow. Do not They're not going to leave yet. They're not going to leave yet.
>> it. I'll make sure.
>> Ready? I'll hold it. Yes. Ready?
>> Yes.
>> Keep big blow in, nice and steady.
Steady, steady. Blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow, blow.
>> I'm not intoxicated.
>> You're not You got to listen Last chance, and that's it. And then I'm going to make my >> did it.
>> And then I'm going to make my decision, okay? So, last chance.
>> have your decision.
>> Last Deep breath in.
>> Look.
>> Just listen to what Listen to what I am saying.
>> Listen to him.
>> Deep breath in and blow.
>> It's right there. There.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, deep breath in. Deep breath in and do not stop until I tell you. Blow, blow, blow, blow, blow harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder, harder.
>> All right, fine.
>> All right.
>> Done. We're good.
>> It didn't work.
>> Now, this matters legally. Being placed in the back of a patrol car does not automatically mean someone is under arrest. Officers are making that distinction very clear. Now, they're attempting a preliminary breath test, and notice the resistance like confusion distraction and denial whether intentional or not failure to properly cooperate can quickly affect what happens next she appears heavily impaired like the attitude from the beginning also seems hostile >> [music] >> while the officer remains calm and like thoroughly professional throughout the interaction.
>> Am I okay or not?
>> No you're not you're not. Do you want Do you want to try again or do you want to >> Are you Are you [ __ ] kidding me?
>> I'm trying to understand and make a sound decision on whether or not you are safe to move on from here.
>> I I just want to move on.
>> Okay so you don't want to provide a breath sample.
>> Ew that's gross.
>> I know it's gross. All right give me your turn out your chance behind your back you're under arrest for DUI.
>> WHAT NO NO.
>> DO NOT resist please do not resist.
Do not resist do not resist just keep your hands behind your back please.
>> All right I'm both of you.
>> You're going to get an additional charge for resisting if you don't stop.
>> Gentlemen gentlemen I'm not I'm not resisting.
>> Well you were.
>> Sir.
>> Walk with me please we're going to go this way.
>> have to drag me.
>> I would prefer not you're grown up we're all grown ups.
>> I'm 63 years old.
>> I I know so let's act like it please.
>> Don't do this gentlemen.
>> Have a seat please.
>> No.
>> The seat you're going to be audio video recorded okay? Go ahead and have a seat.
Have a seat please have a seat please.
You said you're 63 years old 62 act like it sit down please. I don't I I don't know what you think is going to happen next other than you sitting down. I don't know why you're acting like this.
>> Cuz I'm scared.
>> I I understand you have every right to be scared given a situation that you've been >> you just give me a ride home and >> Because that's not going to happen have a seat please sit down. Have a seat sit down please.
Put your feet in please. Let's act like an adult here, please.
>> Don't do this.
>> You're going to get a resisting charge as well.
>> No.
>> Yep.
>> I don't want to No, I'm not resisting.
>> Well, you were.
>> I I don't want to >> video recorded. Everything is audio video recorded. Back up, please.
>> Wait. Wait. Wait. Don't take it that way. I'm not being imp- >> Refusing the breath test is one thing, but once officers establish probable impairment, they can take action. Just notice how quickly confusion turns into resistance, right? Fear may be real in situations like this, but legally, resisting physical control, even when claiming compliance, can lead to an additional charge. Driving under the influence is a serious offense, and many people feel there's no justification for getting so intoxicated that someone cannot even remember being involved in a crash. Like, this kind of behavior is extremely dangerous, and it always needs to be taken seriously.
>> All right, go ahead and see you took your seat belt off. Go ahead and step out for me, please. See, the the more you that you listen and and and work with us, just assist us.
>> That's not >> Let me talk.
The sooner you will be out, okay? So, let's go this way, please. Down this hallway.
>> All right, I have a problem with this.
>> They're going to come off. They're going to come off. Let's get in.
>> walking with you.
>> You say you have a problem walking, but you you haven't given us an explanation.
>> If you If you If you put your forehead on the wall, it helps you from not falling over.
>> I don't have any.
>> Well, you can >> No.
>> I just got to search you.
>> No, I'm fine. I'll get it. No, it's fine. I just don't want to be here.
>> Ugh.
>> I don't want to >> right?
>> Correct.
>> Everything's fine.
>> All right, face me.
>> Yes, ma'am. Can you put your fingers in your mouth and go up your gums?
>> Hey.
>> Up and down?
>> Huh?
>> Up and down? Under your tongue?
>> to grab my wallet and my cup over.
>> We're going to need to take off jewelry, so your glasses.
>> I don't have jewelry.
>> I I don't have a wallet. This guy has a wallet.
All right, go ahead. Can you go through your wallet, >> Oh my god.
>> Go through here and to your right.
>> are you seriously to your right?
And you're going to go >> Now we're entering the booking phase, and this is where the officers begin documenting everything, [music] including uh mobility, coordination, and uh even small physical behaviors. These details can later support or challenge a DUI case. Notice how her confusion has not gone away at all.
Uh at this point, the main question still remains, is this truly intoxication or something else entirely?
No, ma'am. What's truly unacceptable is driving under the influence and causing a multi-car accident. Uh at that age, you're supposed to know better. Like, you're expected to know better and act more responsibly. The suspect was arrested for DUI, resisting an officer, driving an uninsured vehicle, >> [music] >> and failing to yield at a traffic signal. Later, the resisting charge was dismissed, and the suspect pleaded guilty to the remaining charges. What do you think about this situation? Do you think the suspect should have faced a harsher punishment? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
