[00:00:00]Bats are not blind. Every species of bat has fully functioning eyes and can see perfectly well in daylight. What makes bats remarkable is that they also possess a second navigation system called echolocation. They emit ultrasonic pulses through their mouth or nose and listen for the returning echoes to build a precise three-dimensional map of their surroundings. This allows them to hunt insects at night with extraordinary accuracy, using sound as a form of vision their eyes alone cannot provide.
