The U.S. Senate passed a $70 billion reconciliation bill to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol for the next three and a half years, with the vote coming after 18-19 hours of deliberation and despite opposition from several Republican senators who blocked related legislation including the Save America Act.

Senate passes $70B ICE funding billAñadido:
And breaking right now as we come on the air, a live look over Capitol Hill where senators just passed legislation to fund immigration enforcement agencies. That $70 billion reconciliation bill is going to fund ICE and Border Patrol for the next three and a half years. And thank you for joining us. I'm Jan Jeff Coat.
It is Friday, June 5th. This session does mark the latest chapter in the ongoing battle over government funding.
And it's been pretty tricky. While Republicans do hold power in both chambers of Congress, a handful of holdouts did force some lastminute negotiations. The bill did manage to pass even without limits on President Trump's nearly $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund. The vote does come after an all-night voterama marathon with funding for several high-profile issues at stake as we know.
Mark Bole watching all of it from the live desk. Good morning to you, Mark.
>> Jan, good morning to you. Happy Friday.
[music] A lot to get to as we get started here. A late night on Capitol Hill as the Senate worked well into the morning hours. One of the big items on the agenda, roughly around $70 billion to fund Customs and Border Protection as well as ICE. Now, new within the past hour or so, the Senate finally was able to get the funding across the finish line. It took a while, about 18 to 19 hours, but in the end, the GOP was able to get the immigration funding approved.
>> On this vote, the A's are 52, the NAS are 47. this bill as amended is passed.
>> The only big thing to come out of this and the Senate overnight in the past few hours, some fringe Republicans getting in the way of Trump's agenda. Lawmakers voting to block the president's Save America Act. Again, the legislation had called for federal voting regulation and wanted to require every American to show official identification when casting a ballot. Four Republicans, pictures of them here behind me this morning. These are the Republicans that got this to stop. Lisa Marowski of Alaska, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Tom Tillis of North Carolina, who by the way is not running for reelection, and a couple of others getting in the way. Now, this is a big issue, though, for some Republicans. This was not the only bill this group helped kill. They also stood in the way of President Trump's ballroom. In total, six Republican senators voted with Democrats to block the construction of the ballroom unless Congress authorizes this project. It really just muddies up the situation.
So, where does this go from here? Much of the ballroom debate is still stuck in the courts. Trump has vowed to find a path forward. I imagine we would hear from the president shortly, perhaps on Truth Social when he gets going this morning. Bring you that breaking news as it happens. Tears alive.
