War of the Roses Classic: A Maroon Subaru

[00:00:10]You found yourself in a situation, Jason, where you want to do War of the Roses on on your wife. Tell us what's going on. Why are you suspicious that there's somebody else? Yeah, thanks guys. Yeah, and hopefully it turns out okay.

[00:00:24]So, [clears throat] it's really weird situation. I've gotten a couple of anonymous letters that that say I think your wife is seeing someone behind your back. It says there's a maroon Subaru that pulls into your garage. There's a guy inside and then the garage door closes and then the car leaves a couple hours later. So, you don't own a maroon Subaru? No, no. I don't own a maroon Subaru. And your wife doesn't have a maroon Subaru. So, so you're you get an anonymous note that says they see this.

[00:00:53]You have no idea who it's from. What did you say to your wife? I mean, if I got that letter Yeah.

[00:00:59]>> email box that says, "Yeah, there's a strange truck that pulls into your garage when you leave for do the do do the radio show." I'd be like, "Susan, what's this all about?" So, what did your wife, Lucy, say about this letter?

[00:01:11]Yeah, well, but first when I trust my wife, I love her like the first time I I thought someone was playing a prank on me, so I ignored it. And then the second time I'm like, I got to ask cuz you know, who who would do the prank with the same prank twice?

[00:01:25]That's weird.

[00:01:26]So, so I asked her and she said she has no clue what I'm talking about or what these letters are. She just completely denied it. Have you ever been suspicious of her in the past? No, never. Okay.

[00:01:37]Well, this is I mean, if this is a prank, this is a horrible prank to pull on somebody.

[00:01:41]>> me before. Someone sent me an email saying, "I saw your boyfriend like holding hands and walking with a girl in Sam's Club." And I remember just being like, I didn't even believe it cuz they're like this is a good friend and I and I wrote back to him and I said, "A good friend would not send me an anonymous letter." So, how'd you write them back if it was anonymous? It was email. They sent an email to me.

[00:01:59]>> Oh, from like a fake account?

[00:02:01]>> Oh, okay, got you.

[00:02:04]Um okay, so you asked after the second note, >> [music] >> you asked Lucy and she said, "I don't know. Somebody is screwing with us. I didn't I'm not seeing anybody. Nobody's coming to our house when you're not here." What did you do then? Well, it just something didn't >> [clears throat] >> seem right or it just felt off. So, I went around the neighborhood asking people. Okay. Like my neighbors if they'd seen any maroon Subarus or if they'd seen anything weird. And pretty much everyone just said, "No.

[00:02:35]Haven't noticed anything." And then I I went around and then this one neighbor he admitted he wrote the letter. Oh, so you found Wait a second. You found the guy that wrote the letter? Yeah. And what did he say about everything with the the Subaru and your wife? Well, he said he just thought I should know, but he didn't want to get like personally involved in it. So, he he just decided to do it anonymously.

[00:02:57]>> know this guy well? No. I mean, he's a few houses down. We We wave hello occasionally. Nothing like that.

[00:03:04]>> But, see that's that's weird to me because if I saw something like that going on at the neighbor's house, I don't know. I Some of my neighbors I know well, some that I don't. I'd be like, "Mhm, none of my business."

[00:03:14]>> Some people are like bro code though.

[00:03:16]You should know what's going on behind your back. I I guess. Yeah. I don't think that I would notice though. I don't I just don't really pay attention.

[00:03:23]I guess if I was looking out my window and saw the Subaru pull in the garage with the door closed >> Yeah. and then leave a couple hours later with a guy in it, I'd probably assume it was her brother or something.

[00:03:31]You know, I don't think I have that nature. Okay, so But, other a lot of other people are way more into meddling than you are. I guess.

[00:03:40]>> getting involved in that stuff.

[00:03:41]>> So, Jason, where are we at now? So, the neighbor says, "I've seen the Subaru."

[00:03:46]Now, your suspicions are really up cuz he says, "I just think that you should know about it." Yeah, he I mean, he to it. He he said that he definitely saw someone consistently coming in and out.

[00:03:56]So, I just want to do a War of the Roses and find out for sure. Okay. Okay. Well, this could be a doozy and it's a married couple. But he's never had suspicion before. And like I said, when I got that anonymous letter, it was a completely It was like It wasn't a real letter. I don't know why someone did it. Like I never I never figured it out. Um Maybe it'll be fine. Okay. Well, I'm being positive. We'll see what happens. Okay, stay there, Jason. We're going to try to call your wife here in a second and then because, you know, we don't usually have ask women to send roses to a guy, we'll do the whole thing where we say, "Hey, you've won a free dinner and we're going to send you to a nice restaurant and there'll be a little note on the table when you get there. What guy What Who's your date going to be?" Hopefully, it's going to be you, Jason.

[00:04:48]Jason is doing War of the Roses today because, I guess, a couple of months ago he got a note in his mailbox that said, "Hey, just want to let you know, I've seen a strange car pulling in your driveway with a guy. The garage door opens, the car pulls inside, the garage door closes. A couple of hours later, the garage door opens again, the car backs out with the same guy and leaves."

[00:05:13]Now, That's like from a neighbor who mows their yard every single day. Who like watches for like 1 to 2 hours to see the car leave?

[00:05:20]>> Well, see, now, the first thing I thought when I repeated that back, I thought, "This could be somebody who is stealing." What about somebody's breaking breaking in your house? What if you What if your wife isn't home?

[00:05:29]>> Well, they wouldn't just pull into the garage. What would they do? Well, how would they They wouldn't have access to the >> have the garage code. Who knows? They might have a garage door opener.

[00:05:36]There's criminals that have like, you know, the remotes. They'll go up and down the street and see which >> me this stuff.

[00:05:41]>> No, it's true. They'll go up and down the street with a garage door opener and see which garage door it opens. Then later, when you're not there, but okay, but there's nothing missing from your house, and we don't think it's a burglar. We think it might be somebody that your wife is seeing. But she says there's nothing to these notes, right, Jason? Yeah, she's completely denied it.

[00:06:02]Totally baffled, [clears throat] has no idea. But then he asks his neighbor You go and ask your neighbors, nobody has seen this car except one guy. Mhm.

[00:06:13]This guy says, "Yep, I've seen this car in and out of your garage a couple of times, middle of the day when your wife's home and you're at work. Just wanted to let you know." Mhm.

[00:06:23]So now we want to call Lucy, the wife, Right. and find out whether she is going to pass the test or not, basically. All right.

[00:06:34]>> Who will she send dinner to? We want her to send it or we want to have dinner with Jason, her husband.

[00:06:38]>> Right. Okay, let's call her right now.

[00:06:47]Okay, that's the entire survey, and as promised, you do get a romantic dinner for two at So it's going to be a really nice dinner. And what we do is we have a name card waiting at the table for you and your guest. Just kind of a welcome from And so what we'd like is we have your name. If we can get the name of the guest you'd like to bring with you, that'd be fantastic. Okay, um Tim.

[00:07:14]Okay. Tim, that's very interesting. If I can just jump in here for a moment and try to make things really confusing, um hey, uh Lucy, it's Dave Ryan on the radio over KTWV, and we wanted to call to see who you would like to have dinner with. And it's surprising that you would pick Tim to have dinner with cuz like I kind of romantic dinner rather than your husband Jason. Are you following this at all? What's really interesting it Lucy is that Jason is listening right now on the phone and he's been suspicious that you've been seeing someone after all those notes in the mailbox about the maroon Subaru. Do you have any idea Lucy what I'm talking about? Oh my god. Tim?

[00:07:59]Are you serious? Lucy, are you still there?

[00:08:05]Did she hang up? Are you serious? Oh, well that's not surprising. I mean she's been caught. So What is that your first reaction? Is that okay, so wait a second. Tim is who she wants to have dinner with. Do you know Tim? That's the neighbor.

[00:08:24]Okay, now I'm really confused. She wants to have dinner with Tim the neighbor.

[00:08:34]>> in the mailbox unless he was trying to sabotage your relationship, I guess.

[00:08:39]Okay. Yeah, I guess I guess banging her isn't enough. He wants to steal her. The Okay, so I'm still confused. Tim She wants to have dinner with Tim. Tim is the guy who tipped you off that she's having an affair. So the only reason that he would want to do that, why wouldn't he want to just keep it secret?

[00:08:56]Cuz if he Well, is he married? No, he's he's divorced. He's been divorced for a year.

[00:09:02]>> Okay, well there you go. He's looking for his own relationship. He's trying to ruin that one. So he couldn't just like Okay, so to him it's more than just hooking up. banging the neighbor, hooking up with the neighbor. Oh, Jason, I'm really sorry. I'm sorry, Jason. Did you have any idea? Did you have any idea at all? No, no, not at all. She could have >> everything was going great. She could have salvaged it mildly if she wouldn't have hung up immediately. That's When someone hangs up, it's usually a dead giveaway. I mean, it still was bad. You know what I mean? It was still bad cuz she was having dinner with him, but >> Yeah. some people can like work their way out of those situations with great excuses, but when you hang up you pretty much give your give a complete answer.

[00:09:40]>> So, what do we think what's going on is that she's been seeing Tim and Tim wanted you to know, that's why he left a note incriminating your wife. God, I feel like a detective here.

[00:09:51]I'm you know, Jason, I'm really sorry about that. It didn't go the way we wanted to, but I think the big question is, what do you do what do you do now?
