A Special Connection Between Generations | Day 124
Added:Whoa, that's such a good job.
>> Tip tip.
>> Wow, that's actually really good, Everly.
Great job, Chumm.
That's your rock stack, huh? Can we stack it again over here on this side?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, bring it over here.
>> Here's more grocery bags with your truck.
>> Thank you, Emma.
>> A grocery box.
>> Thanks, Emma.
>> Yeah, man. No problem.
>> Thanks, Emma.
>> That's Alex's cousin.
Okay, let's uh stack away, girl. Right now, we're on a little bit of a vacation away from home at the moment.
We're going to stack on that little guy.
>> Yeah. Let's get one underneath here.
Create some balance.
What do you think, Everly? Good.
>> How we doing? Good, >> daddy. Up.
>> Oh, wow. That was really good.
>> Now we'll go a little larger every time.
You drink drinking Ammani's drink?
>> Have you guys ever stacked >> rocks before?
>> Like by the river or anything? This is something that in van life when you go to hot springs and stuff like that you see quite often. Look at that stack.
Everly.
>> What's this? Oh, >> forget what this is called though.
>> Can you open this one?
>> I can open it for you.
Oh, actually, can you get yours? That's Aunt Mary's.
>> Can I try?
>> Where's yours?
>> Yes.
>> Or mommy's or daddy's.
>> Mommy's.
>> Is that What color is that, Everly?
>> Yellow.
>> Yellow.
I think that it's Aunt Mary's favorite color.
>> Don't knock over my stack. It's a perfectly stacked stack.
Oh no.
>> The stack monster came and broke it up.
>> You're a stack monster over there.
>> So today's video is more of just a relax and hang out day with Everly and myself.
Maybe Alex will jump in. Maybe uh Emma, Alex's cousin, will jump in. Or uh maybe even Marie will jump in. appreciate all the the lovely comments that you guys put up today. Uh I know that Aunt Monty made you guys laugh. Oh, that one broke.
Look at that. Split Everly right in half. Is there a fossil inside of it?
Maybe cuz it was like this and I was able to just right off. Let's look in the middle of it. Do Do you see anything right there?
That looks like something was living inside of there at some point.
>> I can't open. You could open it.
>> I could bake it in pot.
>> No, try again.
>> No, try again.
>> Uh, >> no. Try again. Her nails, silly.
>> What [clears throat] color are they? Do what?
>> The back scratch. Tickle tickle. Okay, let me just get you a little closer.
Tickle tickle tickle tickle tickle tickle.
>> Yeah. So, it's really sweet to just watch watch that, you know, the generations kind of hang out.
>> [clears throat] >> It's been a tiring day.
>> Tiring?
>> Yeah, tiring for me.
>> What did you have to do that was tiring?
>> Uh, we ran around, went to a bunch of stores. She didn't sleep great, which means that Alex and I didn't sleep great.
>> I hear you. Well, hopefully it works out tonight.
>> Yeah, typically that's how it goes. It's normally not two nights in a row.
>> I hope not for your reason why I'm yawning right now.
>> Yeah, I understand.
>> Yeah.
You see the boat going by, Marty?
>> Oh, yeah. Motorboat.
>> How fast do you think they're going?
[clears throat] >> That's pretty fast. I think it's motorboat.
>> Still quite a bit hazy from the from the smoke, huh?
>> Yeah, for sure.
>> At least you don't smell it anymore.
>> True.
>> Yesterday was like >> pretty heavy smell. Actually, two days ago was pretty heavy smell.
>> Sad about these big row fires.
>> Yeah, the big forest fires.
[clears throat] And you sort of think, does somebody drop their cigarette and that's what starts it?
>> Uh, I think a lot of it's actually from lightning.
>> Oh, >> like they'll have a lightning storm up north and not a lot of like a lot of dry land.
>> Okay.
>> And then all it takes is one strike and then >> Yeah. And then we're on >> and then some wind [clears throat] >> and since nobody lives up in northwestern Ontario, >> it just spreads like wildfire as they say.
>> Yeah. Exactly. So, >> it happens happens in the States as well and >> all over the place.
>> Just we're just dealing [clears throat] with the air quality right now.
>> Praying every night that we don't have a fire.
>> Well, it's pretty green here. It's pretty green. It could happen, but I don't think it will.
>> That's why I keep praying. But >> yeah, I don't think so.
>> Because [clears throat] of the burn cottages down, too.
>> Yeah.
>> Sadly.
>> Yeah. The thing is there's also a lot of water here.
being the the lakes and and the bay, you have a lot of opportunity to potentially put it out as well where like [clears throat] and there's also like the um the facilities they have here. So they have, you know, fire trucks and >> and stuff like that close by where the stuff in northwestern Ontario there's not really a lot of that.
>> Oh, that's too bad.
>> And so what will happen is it will get out of control before they can contain it, you know.
>> Gotcha. Sadly. Yeah. Also, you know, it could happen anyway. So, you're right.
>> Yeah.
This uh this fish ain't flopping like it was yesterday.
>> This guy up here.
>> Yeah.
Lot less wind today than yesterday.
>> Well, the fish probably appreciates that.
>> Yeah.
>> Get a lot of rocket and rolling when it's windy >> and vibrating.
>> And vibrating. Yeah.
You look forward to hanging out here all the time when whenever you can, huh?
>> Oh, I love it.
>> It's like your >> This is your your heavenly place.
>> You got it. I just certainly love it.
And had so many friends here.
>> Yeah.
And I think I told you that there was just one family from Detroit.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Honest to Pete.
>> She was such a kind, caring, considerate lady.
>> Yeah.
>> And when people started making >> They should never ever do that.
>> Well, but they did. And I thought you should have met woman. You would have totally >> People will be rude. [clears throat] >> You know, uh if they don't understand >> the situation.
>> Yeah. and life in general, you know, when when people are close-minded and and closed off >> uh >> or small-minded sometimes that happens and >> and uh we never hope that ever happens to anybody.
>> Well, it's kind of fun because one of the friends of my parents, they lived in Detroit.
>> Yeah. You were just saying that. Yeah.
>> And she was such a she's very kind. Oh, >> she was she was just a delight.
>> Uh did you play basketball as a kid growing up?
>> Oh gosh, yes. That's why daddy put the basketball in that up for me.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah. No, I played lots of sports.
Basketball, volleyball.
>> And I was the Kent County track and field champion.
>> Oh, yeah. That's pretty impressive.
>> And I think my daddy, because he had polio, was very proud of me that I was able to do that.
>> Yeah.
You were pretty [clears throat] athletic, huh?
>> Pardon?
>> You were pretty athletic. Yes.
>> As a kid growing up.
>> Yeah. Well, I was the Cent County Track and Field Champion.
>> Yeah. Yeah. been reading your book.
>> Yeah.
>> Good. It's parts.
>> It's interesting. I make it very difficult to go from one cover to cover, but it's just any.
>> Okay. Go on.
>> Go on.
>> You're all good now.
>> Yeah. See, now you giving kisses.
>> Yeah. Kisses.
>> That's good boy.
>> Good deal. You want to come sit here?
>> That's Paco.
>> Paco. Yeah.
Does that feel good? Does that feel good? Purple. Does that feel good?
>> That's one of the chai huruha types.
>> Yeah.
They they buzz a lot because they might have eaten bees.
[laughter] >> That was a joke.
>> Hope so.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Mexican jumping bees.
>> Yeah. [laughter] friend had a his mother had a not a teacup but the next one up of whatever really tiny little English thing.
>> Okay.
>> And uh um it was adorable but dumb as a stone.
>> Oh no.
>> Which is too good.
>> Yeah. He's pretty smart.
>> Yeah.
>> Who was that?
>> Uh Dame Chel.
>> Oh yeah.
>> His when his mother died. Yeah.
>> You know this little thing got left with with Dame.
>> So he had some health problems. And I usually have cats. So, you know, I took took the dog and I think it was I don't know a little over a week or something in the hospital and I messed up. So, I'd walk the dog and this was winch >> and she would jump over these things, snow, anything, you know, like man, and would make my legs tired. And I finally had to learn, you know, keep going [clears throat] and she'll till she dies. Yeah.
>> Like she was already like eight. So I thought, "No, no, can't do that." So tape her off and I would take her on a circuit and then come back to the house.
But ready to go. Oh my god. Anytime.
>> Yeah.
>> Just and you know pulling on the cord and really neat.
>> Yeah.
>> So then another one uh I forget how he fell into this. He had some you know like group of lady friends, you know, not romantic but whatever. She had a a little chihuahua that was, you know, quite small, had tons of personality, just as sharp as a tactus.
>> Mhm.
>> It's 10:30, 10:42 at night. We're still awake. The vlog got kind of messed up cuz the mic like kind of cut out. Let me see. Yeah, we looked at you. Can you talk?
>> Hi, Frank and everyone watching.
>> Yeah. So, the mic's cut out during the video. So, I cut out all the spots where you couldn't see like you couldn't hear us because it literally goes staticky and then like cuts out. I didn't have our mic set up in. And um I was talking with Aunt Marne and also Everly came over and like Aunt Marney was like scratching the back and one of the things I said in the video, I don't know if it's in there at the moment that I love being able to like watch generations of family be able to like hang out and it's so great for the family. It's great for Everly, it's great for them. Like it's just a lovely thing to see. Mhm.
>> And uh even though Monti isn't like my family in the sense of like it's she's my family in the sense of marriage, but she's not my family in the sense like my blood and stuff.
>> It's still really cool to see it. So I'm looking forward to when we get to see that when we go to New York.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. For sure. There's like statistics about how grandparents who interact with their grandkids live longer. like the better relationship that you have with like you know the next generation and small kids and stuff can actually increase your lifespan.
>> Yeah. I think it also helps like your brain activity when you're older too. So it's like >> if you are struggling with something like dementia or something like that.
It's a way to potentially you know work that muscle to bring back different memories memories maybe rather than the ones that you're stuck on. Um and >> I don't know bro that's pretty hard.
>> I know. Oh, I hear you. But like I think >> I don't Do you think >> I think when my grandfather was like with us, he was better than once he went away.
>> Mhm.
>> Like to a nursing home.
>> Once he went to a nursing home, it was like >> there's something about like like I feel like when I went to his nursing home when I was kid, it felt like a hospital, >> like a prison kind of probably.
>> Yeah. And like not that it felt like I don't know. It didn't feel the same as like what hers does. Hers is like a retirement home. [snorts] It's like a >> it's like a living center, you know, that >> doesn't feel like you're trapped.
>> I feel like my grandfather felt like he was trapped in that place, especially cuz he like walked a lot and all this stuff. And >> yeah, it's hard to lose your independence that way.
>> Yeah. But on another note, it's it's 10:45 at night and Alex and I are still up working. Like here I am working on the vlogs. I just got done working on a different video, [snorts] exporting, doing audio. Alex and I were kind of talking through like how we can make the videos better. So, really excited about that to see how you all feel about it and if you notice any improvement to them. Um, yeah. So, FNA life is getting a little bit of a of like a, you know, lift up.
>> Well, you know, you know, >> I think also because we recently we were doing a lot of like travel videos, Spain, Portugal, like that whole series and we were really enjoying that.
And I think we were watching one of Tread the Globes videos today and I was like that's what I miss about our travel videos is that like we like share random fun facts and like oh this town is known for this or like eating this is you know the cool thing to do here or like this town is known for their pie so we're going to try a pie.
>> I'm just going to open it and put it here cuz I want to stretch a little bit.
Um, but so then Frank's like, you know, we could add stuff like that to our homesteading vloggy videos. And I was like, you know, >> what do you mean?
>> Well, you said, what do you mean at first?
>> And I was like, we could compare it to like what it's like to live in a normal home compared to an RV. What's the difference? Why are the differences that we're doing it?
>> How much water do you use at a house versus how much water do we have here?
So, we didn't actually do anything like facty stuff in this one, but we did add some like more context on the why are we moving into an off-grid trailer.
>> Yeah.
>> And then also, we really haven't been filming anything this week because this week is just kind of like >> let's catch up on work as well as >> also I find it like kind of like I don't really want to film when we're here at Rondo.
>> No, neither do I.
>> Like we're just kind of relaxing. here in this like routine of like wake up, have breakfast, go for a walk.
>> I feel like the people who are watching this are blessed to get like that little inside view of our life >> here cuz like typically to the vlog.
>> We never put this in the vlog. It very rarely makes it.
>> Yeah. Well, then also like a big part of being here is being with Marne, [snorts] taking care of Marne.
>> And so you may have noticed in that conversation, I don't know if Frank's really like said anything about this in the last couple of days, but Marne does have Alzheimer's.
>> Yes. And that's one of the reasons that we're here. And so we've decided, you know, not only because of Marne, but also you were just talking about your grandpa, my grandma Marne. Martney and Marty. They're not actually not related, funny enough, but my uncle Paul, who's my dad's brother, >> married a woman named Marty, and his mother's name was Marty.
>> They say that you marry your mother.
[laughter] >> Well, he married the lady with the same name.
>> Okay, Sue. No, I'm just kidding. Oh, [laughter] thanks.
>> Um, >> mom, no no no shame and no hate. Just like, you know, >> it would just be weird if my name was Sue cuz then it would be your aunt and your mom.
>> That's true.
>> And your wife.
>> Very popular of a name. Maybe Marne was just a very popular name at the time.
>> So anyways, um, and then I have, you know, Marne and my grandma Marne. Who else? Anyone? My aunt Nora had Alzheimer's.
My uncle Marcus had Alzheimer's.
A lot of people, I think it's just like very common. It's horrible. Anyways, so we've decided that this month we haven't reset a charity yet because after we got hacked, I feel like we were just like trying to then catch up from, you know, blah blah blah and and then life kind of picked up and then we were traveling here, traveling, whatever. So, we haven't reset a charity for this month or a cause that we wanted to talk about. And >> so, we're going to find one that's for Alzheimer's and dementia. And hopefully by the next video after this, I'll have a GoFundMe put together where we can start donating to to that charity.
>> Hopefully some kind of like a cure for >> Yeah. I mean, that would be lovely.
>> That would be great. you know, I if like you know that time comes in my life or your life where you know this might affect us, it would be nice if there was a cure for it.
>> I mean, there's already like different therapies and drug things that you can take that can like really slow it down.
And I think we're learning a lot more about how as I [sighs] think about I'm like, "Oh, I should be more." But like taking care of your body, taking care of your health, taking care of, you know, what you're eating, all that stuff actually really matters.
>> I apologize in advance. This might make me fart.
>> [laughter] >> Frank, >> I'm just telling the truth. That's it.
>> Apparently, kids these days don't care about flatulence in public. Like they just like are in class like letting it rip and everyone's like, "Haha, no big deal."
>> I mean, it's life. Everybody does it.
>> Yeah. But I feel like back even like like I don't know. I feel like it's impolite to fart in front of people.
>> I mean, it's not nec like it depends on where you are. If I'm at like work, >> if you're out eating, then sure. But if you're at work, then it's like >> if I'm sitting in my cubicle and I'm just like >> I mean, if you have a stomach ache and you're still getting work done, >> then I'm going to the bathroom or I'm going if I if I'm literally at a point where I cannot control my farts because my stomach hurts so much. [laughter] >> I need to That's your bad. See, I'm not going to get hurt from the work and the activity I'm doing. I'm going to get hurt from Alex forgetting that I just had surgery on my leg.
>> We were snuggling last night and he's like, "Can you just move your leg?" And I was like, "Oh, sorry."
>> She like legit goes like this [laughter] [gasps] right across my legs and she forgets that.
>> I totally forgot that you had a problem.
>> I have a problem.
>> Relaxed. [snorts] >> He has a problem. But so yes, back to the point. Yeah, >> we are going to pick a GoFundMe that's going to directly support hopefully some kind of fundraiser in the dementia Alzheimer space that is helping to find a cure >> for it >> for this. Yeah.
>> And if that's something that you agree with and can get behind, I think everybody knows somebody who's been touched by that.
>> Yes. I know multiple people. So I if you don't I I could add mine for you.
>> Yeah. Or like that's very lucky for you.
>> Yeah.
>> But so yeah, I think that's something that most people can get behind. Please let us know if we're wrong. If you're like, oh my god, that's so horrible.
>> There's been several people in the comments that have already been like, you should do it for dementia.
>> Okay. Well, there you go.
>> Yeah. Um >> so we're going to do it.
>> Yeah. Yeah, we're going to do it. It's definitely top of the priority list now, I feel like. And then I know that one of these next months we'll probably do one for for like uh for women as well. Um >> what about women?
>> Well, for like women that have had some type of like domestic violence or something like that because uh I feel like that's something that uh we could shed some light on and and definitely be >> uh advocate for helping out people that have been through uh abuse in some type of way. Do you want to hear a yucky statistic that I just learned the other day? Go ahead.
>> So, England was in the World Cup.
>> Yes.
>> Like one of the finals, whatever.
>> In England, whenever their football team is in like a finals, like big game, if they lose, domestic violence goes up 38%.
>> Holy shoot. Is it all the women beating their husbands for being out at the game and get drunk?
>> I don't think so.
>> If they >> Sorry, bad joke.
>> If they win, >> Yeah.
>> What do you think happens?
>> I think that it goes down.
>> It goes up 28%.
>> Oh, it still goes up.
>> So, it still goes up. It goes up less.
>> So, 38 versus 28%.
and that it might be eight or seven or nine and [snorts] like don't 100% quote me here but >> no matter what and I think one of the commenters was like I don't think this is a sports problem I think this is an alcohol problem >> 100% >> because whether they win or lose >> you go to watch the game and you have >> 7 10 14 points >> this is personally the problem that I have with like drinking. Not me personally in the sense of I get violent, but I've known quite a few people that have gotten violent because of alcohol. And this is the reason why I personally don't really care for drinking. Like I'm not saying that you don't have to, but >> one of the many reasons, >> one of the many reasons that I don't personally care for drinking is abuse. I actually was when my cousin told me that she's has has like stopped drinking. I was like, "Oh, >> okay."
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz I haven't been drinking for like five plus years.
>> Yeah. like maybe a random glass of something here or there, but like so >> I feel like that we only ever [snorts] have celebratory drinks when we have them and it's like >> once to twice a year >> and it's like a drink and it's usually something that's like like when we were in Portugal it was like oh this like very regional Portugal lure that like you could only get here in the whole world and you're like okay >> when we in Scotland >> right like >> it's very rare but >> it on another note it has been 20 minutes >> because last >> we've actually well over now because of earlier today.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, I hope you enjoyed both segments.
>> Yes, me too. And thank you guys for supporting the channel. Thank you for supporting us.
>> Um thank you for also following Frankie uh sorry FNA life our other channel.
