The Roof Gets Serious… Wall Plates Explained

[00:02:17]Good morning and what a beautiful start to the day. What you saw me doing earlier was me marking up where all of the rest of the timber for the roof is going to go on these wall plates. So this is the starting point of the wall plate up against the gable, which is that triangular thing in the background there. That's the gable. So that's our starting point. And this little X here is my very first rafter. And then after that, we have the starter for the bolt, the anchor for this plate to be fixed to the concrete beam that goes along the wall on either end. and then setting out every 400 centers the rafters and then the most important the two most important pieces which is the first truss which comes here. So I just wanted to see where everything was going to turn out on the plate whether the bolts for the anchoring were going to be under maybe a seat cut of the rafter which is not great because when you go to fix the rafter onto the plate you'll be hitting the metal rod. So, I just wanted to visually see where everything was going to end up on the plate. And luckily, it's all worked out really nicely.
