This US City Is Running Out of Water

[00:00:00]Today, a city of 500,000 people in the United States of America is running out of water. The city is Corpus Christi, Texas. If no new water sources come online, the western reservoirs will run completely dry sometime in the first half of 2027. [music] And it projects that as early as November of this year, the city could hit what's officially called a level one water emergency. That's the trigger point where demand outpaces supply by enough that mandatory cuts of 25% go into [music] effect for every single user. A neighborhood of predominantly black and Hispanic residents filed a civil rights complaint with the federal government over where the solution would be built. Neighboring counties are fighting the city in court over plans [music] to drill for groundwater. This is one of the most significant municipal water crises in American history.
