Consent must be moment-to-moment and cannot be given in advance, as demonstrated by the viral voice note debate where a man's explicit request for sexual compatibility was interpreted differently by various audiences as either honest consent-seeking or coercive manipulation; this illustrates that moral judgments often lack clear philosophical foundations and that the same behavior can be perceived as either empowering or manipulative depending on perspective.

Men Are Doing WHAT to Raw Chicken?
Added:All right, I have some breaking news. It has just come to my attention that Bradley Doggett is not wearing any pants. He's He's not He's in his underwear right now.
>> [laughter] >> Look at this guy.
He records in his underwear. And just so everybody understands, me and Brad had a important business meeting.
This [ __ ] showed up in sweatpants. Sweatpants. He was literally meeting the CEO of a company, and he showed up in sweatpants.
>> You know, you you want to dress for the job you want, right?
>> [laughter] >> Which Which is What you saying in that?
>> Holy [ __ ] Truer words have NEVER [laughter] BEEN SPOKEN.
>> IF A MAN BUYS A RAW CHICKEN, takes it home to his house, and then places his male anatomy inside of it, and has intimate relations with the raw chicken, and then afterwards eats it, did he do anything wrong? Now, that situation is absurd, but it's also a very deep philosophical question. You see, everybody who hears that will say, "Yes, that guy definitely did something wrong.
He had intimate relations with a dead chicken." However, almost everyone who hears that will also fail to provide a moral justification as to why that is actually wrong.
>> I feel like he is speaking directly to Brad.
>> [laughter] >> I feel like that guy knows what Brad did.
>> [laughter] >> Raise your hand if you've ever done this.
>> I love this question cuz my This actually sent me down a little bit of a of a rabbit hole because my my immediate answer is no, okay? No No, it is not morally wrong to make love to a chicken.
Well, well, to a dead chicken. Because you're not hurting anybody. You're not hurting another human. I mean, it's sort of like American Pie, having sex with the pie on on the desk, okay? There's nothing morally wrong about it. You don't need an invisible space wizard to tell you not to go [ __ ] a dead chicken, [laughter] okay?
>> Invisible >> [laughter] >> space wizard.
>> That's what THAT'S HIS ARGUMENT.
>> OH.
>> RIGHT? I think that morals are created not by God, but by humans for society.
Now, where you run into trouble is if that chicken was alive, would I still say the same thing? No, that would be harder to say.
>> Okay, here's a counter-argument.
Do you eat the chicken after you do it?
Because if you do not, you could make an argument that it's morally wrong because that chicken was killed for your own sexual pleasure. So, unless you're going to unless you're going to swallow that tenderloin AFTER YOU >> [laughter] >> WELL, IN THIS VIDEO HE DOES EXPLICITLY say [laughter] he [ __ ] it and then he eats it. So, he did eat it.
>> Oh, does he?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, then I don't If you [ __ ] a piece of raw chicken and then you eat it, I DON'T THINK >> [laughter] >> YEAH, HE DID.
>> I DON'T THINK YOUR MORALS ARE GOOD.
>> You're morally wrong. [laughter] >> I don't either.
>> I don't think it's morally wrong. It is the lizard brain [ __ ] the raw chicken. It is the chimp brain swallowing the tenderloin after you do it, and it is the human brain that says, "You know what?
THIS MIGHT BE IMMORAL."
>> [laughter] >> AND NOW WE TALK ABOUT THE TOPIC THAT has set the internet ablaze over the last week and a half, and that is the infamous voice note. And we're going to leave it up to the audience here to decide, is this coercion, or is this what consent looks like?
>> Had had a good time tonight. I definitely think you are lovely.
Um, however, I would love to, if we're going to go to your place on Thursday, I mean, I am looking to have that, um, physical intimacy, um, to see if like I am sexually [music] compatible with you.
Um, so like if I'm going to come over, like I would be hoping to, like, hook up, have sex, have a good time, have like that romantic spark and that physical spark there, um, for my own sake, um, because it's hard for me to continue [music] dating if dating someone and seeing them if I don't know if I'm sexually compatible. So, um, I know you said, "I don't know about that." So, like, I guess my thing is is like, what would be the point of me coming over then if we're not going to, like, hook up and like >> [music] >> cuddle and like be intimate with each other. Um, and if that's what you don't want, that's fine, but like I think we should just like end it here then, respectfully, just because I first date, that's fine. Like, you want to get to know each other, I'm all about that, but like I am looking to have that physical aspect there and I don't want to continue seeing someone if I don't know if that's good if if that's not there not. So, up to you, let me know. I'm happy to, um, if you do want me to come over, I'm I'm happy to do so. I would love to [ __ ] have a good time, and you know, we can have some wine, hang out, and chill, but if you're not trying to hook up, then like I think we should just, uh, go our separate ways. Let me know.
>> So, there were takes all over the place in response to this voice note. On one side, there was a mega viral video where a girl was saying that this is what consent looks like. It's brutal, it's honest, it's in your face, but this is the what you would want rather than someone hiding it and coming over and being pushy once they get there, right?
And then all the way on the other side, you had people saying this is very rapey, this is coercion, and this could even be a legal defense. Basically, he's setting himself up to do whatever he wants to this girl and then point to this voice note potentially in court and say, "Hey, I I had the pass here." And then somewhere in the middle, there were people just saying, "The guy is not you know, not very smooth, kind of a very lame, and definitely pushy, but it's not necessarily rapey or co- ercion, but it's not necessarily consent." So, it was all over the place and everyone had a very staunch but different take on this.
>> So, let's play the first argument.
>> A video went viral last week of a girl that got a voice note from a guy that she was dating and he was basically saying, "Hey, if we're going to continue hanging out, I just want you to know that I am seeking a sexual connection and if you don't want to explore a sexual connection, then we should probably just end this now because a sexual connection is a priority to me."
And this was presented as a negative thing and the comments were littered with people saying men aren't lonely enough, etc., etc. And I was sitting there thinking this is what consent looks like, y'all. It is blunt. It is raw. It is obvious. It should be that easy. Consent, especially sexual consent, should be blunt.
>> I can tell by her bangs >> [laughter] >> so I and I don't mean that in I'm not it's not sexual objectification. I can just tell. And I actually find her perspective, I'm making an assumption here that she's a leftist, I actually find that is an interesting leftist perspective. It's not what I expected from that side of the aisle.
>> Yeah. Usually >> [laughter] >> she's like dude, she's like very communist, very anti-capitalist, and so I think what she probably got >> [laughter] >> Yeah. But, this might be an instance where you go so far left, you end up on the right. Cuz she got 300,000 likes on that. So, a lot of people had a visceral reaction to that video specifically. So, do you want do you want to see what the counter argument was there?
>> The mental gymnastics you have to go through to rationalize that voice memo as consent, as a person seeking consent.
That man wasn't seeking consent, he was seeking a legal defense.
He knew that if he went over to that woman's house and tried to initiate physical intimacy, that he wasn't going to mother stop until he got what he wanted. So, he wanted to make sure that he had a legal defense in line, so he could say, "Hey, she consented."
>> Huh.
That is actually insane. If she is correct, because she makes a really good point that if she did consent to that and he did end up raping her, he does have a legal defense. Every single parent that has a daughter needs to watch this video, because that right there, that's a [ __ ] curveball that I didn't even think about.
>> I mean, I I it's it's I mean, it's so layered. That's the thing about this whole argument too, is like there's so many different pieces to it. Like But, like on a general level, I want to zoom out and get everybody's take for a second. Just on like is it consent, is it not consent? Like what where do you land just generally on this? Everybody, Brad, start with you. Where do you land on this?
>> I I probably land somewhere more in the middle, because I I find it unless I just am oblivious about law, I find it hard to believe that you could be in court and say, "Hey, look at this voice note." Because lots of other people on TikTok made this point eloquently, that consent is moment-to-moment. You can even be making love to someone and they say, "Actually, I'm not into this." And then that consent is withdrawn.
So, it's hard for me to to truly wrap my brain around the idea of a lawyer arguing that this would back you up in court. Now, on the other side >> I don't know.
>> for this the exact same reason, this is not what consent looks like because you can't get consent for some [ __ ] like that ahead of time. It's not a It's not a like a a vocal contract like that. Um so, I I don't agree with I I I would love to hear a lawyer talk about maybe [clears throat] this in court. Maybe it could be a legal argument, but I certainly don't think this is what consent looks like. I probably land towards he was being pushy and he was trying to give her an ultimatum and basically saying, "Hey, if you want to hang out with me, you're going to have to do that." And that's a super shitty thing to do. I I think he's a shitty dude.
I don't know if he necessarily was trying to set up a future rape. Th- Th- That is a little bit harder for me me to believe, but also I don't think that's what consent looks like.
>> Yeah, but women are always worried about rape.
Literally, anytime that they're going to be alone with a strange man in a room, they're always Rape is always on the forefront of their brain. So, I actually I would disagree. I I do think that if it did come to that and he did rape her, I think that that would be a legal defense. And if he was somebody that wanted to rape somebody, this is something that he might do in advance. He'd I'll I'll tell you what he did right.
He did speak from his perspective all the time. He kept saying, "For me, for me." And my wife made a really good point about that. Is Is he kind of set his boundary?
Where he did get, I would say manipulative, is she already told him no. I know that you said that you didn't want to. So, he's kind of pushing the topic. When he said, "What's the point?" Bro, that sent that sent cuz I have a daughter, right? That sent a little shiver up my spine. I didn't like that. He should have ended at the first 10 seconds. Where he said, "I am looking for physical intimacy. Let me know if that is something that you want to do." Boom, he should have ended it right there.
But, my wife said both. She said it is like she said it's both. It It is He is looking for consent, but it is also >> coercion. He's And to me, it's abundantly clear that this man is using is pretending to look for its consent as a means to coerce.
>> Yes.
>> That It's so clear to me.
>> He is presenting it like consent, but it's actually coercion. I would totally agree with that. Because he's using all the right language. When The thing that really kind of made my hair stand up was he he said respectfully.
Just cuz you say respectfully does not mean respectfully, bro.
>> Well, one thing that, you know, go even going back to the sort of back and forth moral question when we were talking about the chicken.
Um obviously, this is quite different.
[laughter] But but but but but he he It sets up maybe I'm still in that sort of this or that type of [laughter] uh debate.
>> I can't stop thinking about raw chicken.
>> Yeah. But but but here I think would make an interesting question is is it better for him to present it like this, or is it better for him to hide these feelings and go over to her house?
>> That is a great question. I think it's better for him to present it this way.
Because people like this are manipulative. So, if he did not present it this way, he would be thinking it in his brain and then leaning fully into coercion. I would much rather much rather have him choose to send that voice message because by him sending that voice message, he kind of shows his hand. And I would actually urge parents to sit down with your child and play messages like this and discuss it and see what they think.
>> I I I think that's a great way to learn about the world without having to without having to experience traumatic lessons. Because that that's the goal, right? Like traumatic lessons versus hard lessons that make you into a wiser person.
>> The other thing also, I think, is him trying to sound smart just to convince her is when he says, "I want to see if I'm sexually compatible with you."
Boy, please. Guys are sexually compatible with any even a a rotisserie chicken.
>> [laughter] >> Whatever sexually compatible with. So, the idea of like, "I want to see if this will work." Come on. But this is why this sparks such a big conversation all across the internet. Everyone has a different take. So, I'm very curious what people say in the comments, what their take is on this voice note.
>> Yeah, keep having these conversations.
>> Yeah. Yeah, if you're not going to subscribe, we're not interested in MAKING ANY MORE >> [laughter] >> BRAD, CAN YOU ASK THE real space wizard whether it's immoral to have sexual relations with a raw chicken?
>> Absolutely. Absolutely. Let us inquire to the true space wizard.
>> ChatGPT. Okay, let's pull him up.
Chat, are you there?
>> What's up?
>> I have a moral question for you. You ready?
>> Go for it.
>> Is it immoral to make love to a rotisserie chicken and then eat it afterwards?
>> Morally, it's a bit outside the wing territory. I'd say the bigger issue is it morality, it's food safety.
>> [laughter] >> Don't care about consent.
Um but, eating cooked chicken is only safe if it's been stored properly.
>> Okay, so what if I cook the [ __ ] out of it after I make love to it?
>> So, if if feeling like cooking it after work, at least the germs don't stand a chance. But, the ethical weirdness is well, that's on you.
>> That's on me. It is on me. It's true.
Ethical weirdness, he says. So, so morally, there's nothing immoral about it.
>> Morality wise, most people would probably find it, uh let's say, disturbing.
>> [snorts] >> But, ethics usually apply to how we treat beings with feelings, right? Yeah.
A rotisserie chicken doesn't feel anything anymore.
>> You're looking your your voice going up.
>> [laughter] >> Hey, I'm too human, dude.
>> So, so true space wizard of the sky, you're saying that it's fine I'm okay.
I'm not going to get in any trouble with my friends and family if I go to Walmart later and pick up a rotisserie chicken?
>> [laughter] >> Well, if you're just buying and eating it, no trouble at all.
>> No, no, no, you know damn well what I'm going to do to it.
>> Well, all right. Um basically, if you live with people, go share your sense of humor. There it is.
Thank you. All I have to do is be discreet.
Thank you, Space Wizard. So, just so everybody is clear, the world is running out of fresh water and Brad >> [laughter] >> Brad Doggett just wasted about a gallon of water asking that question.
>> [music] [music]
