So, tonight I'm going to introduce to you all our vanilla sugar cookies and I'm going to make my grandma Margie sweet potato bread. Talk about something good. That's one of my favorite things, y'all. >> It was good. You know, I ain't I I really relaxed today. I had a few errands to run, but after I ran my errands, I came back and, you know, got ready for the show. But other than that, it was a good day. So, let's get down to these vanilla sugar cookies. I'mma give you guys the Tammy. Wait, girl. Hold on. Let me let me let me talk to Tammy. Hey, girl. Oh, it started out real hot.
>> Yeah, girl. The air conditioner went ain't out today and it has been miserable. But I have this little fan, so I'm good now. Fan and this food that I'm seeing.

>> Tammy wanted to make cookies today. So, Tammy, I'm going to let you tell a story about the cookies. You go ahead on and tell them why you wanted me to do these cookies.
>> Yes. Yes. Yes. Okay, y'all. So, Denise and I have been friends since high school. What? Maybe like 11th grade, 10th grade, around that time. Maybe junior high. I don't remember. But we attended this summer program called Upwardbound. If anyone anyone has ever heard of it, every weekend, and I tell you, every single weekend when we had to return back to campus, Denise always had a dessert for us, whether it was brownies, cookies, or whatever. So, aside from us being friends in high school, what really connected me connected me were those cookies. And when I tell you that connection has been forever and ever, and that taste still in in my mouth.
Yes. It's good. It's good. So, that's why I just had to have her make those cookies.
>> Listen, not still in your mouth, Terry.
>> Yes. Yes. We started over 30 years. You got the taste of the cookies in your mouth. It's just something you just don't you just can't forget. It's just you just can't.
>> Listen, I'm going to even jazz those cookies up tonight cuz we going to make them real homie cuz right now I got some pecans going. I'm making some praline pecans to put in my sugar cookies. They going to be so good. Look at there. I got that cooking up right now to go in them sugar cookies. We going to get to mixing these cookies cuz >> we going to be all right. Let me tell y'all the ingredients. We have allpurpose flour. We have sugar. We have eggs. We have butter. We have vanilla and almond extract.
And um yeah. So, I'mma go ahead and get to mixing. Miki going to stir those pecans for me. She getting the the potato bread stuff ready over there. I'mma stir in my eggs with my flour and then I'mma add my sugar. We going to get these sugar cookies going. This is a quick and easy recipe.
It's a 20 minute prep time, but guess what? Only a 10 minute cook time. So, guess what? We talking about 30 minutes.
You can make you some really, really good cookies. Get you some ice cream to go with it. Man, listen. Gonna be on and popping. I'm adding my sugar into it.

>> I remember the sweet potato pie. Fold over fold over pie. Okay. You used to make at your grandmother. Okay. All right. She said, "I'm fold over sweet potato pies." Listen, let me tell y'all something. Last week, my cousin Shay was on and he brought up those pies to my mama. So, y'all know them folks love those pies. They love them pies. I don't know. Them pies was just up. Mik brought up the sweet potato fold over pie. So y'all know, see Mik, matter of fact, Mik just vetted me. She just told y'all I know how to make grandma sweet potato pie. So Ch, you don't even need to ask. That legacy won't be lost. I know how to make grandma sweet potato pies.
Sammy, you know anything about them pies?
>> I don't think I've ever had the pies, >> but you had Oh, definitely. So, now that I'm hearing about the pies, I'm I'm very interested in it.
>> Okay, girl. I got you. I got you on the pies, too. I'm going just have to just do a whole dessert sw when we get there cuz I got to make sure we get you those pies. Okay, I have mixed up my cookie dough.
I'm going to add a little bit more flour to it cuz I think I need a little bit more flour, but that's okay.
And see, every time I go to Miki house, she have a meal ready. We wasn't doing a cooking episode tonight, but I still had to put dinner in the oven. So, Tammy, girl, don't don't get mad.

>> Have stuffed peppers for dinner. And I put some big old nice shrimp in them.
So, don't get upset.

Y'all don't get mad with me T cuz I got them peppers in the oven and you know I had to make dinner so cuz me came over here early and I got to make sure my girl eat now. I can't keep her hungry cuz when I go to her house she always have a good meal ready and if she ain't got it ready she getting it ready. So I had to do the same thing.

And this sweet potato bread. This is Grandma Margie's recipe. That was one of my favorite things she made. Sweet potato bread.
Most people would say a bread, but for us it was a dessert. It's buttery, sweet, and those sweet potatoes. Oh man, it's so good. It's like a crustless sweet potato pie. That's what I would describe it as. A crustlessly sweet potato pie. But it is so good. So, she smashing up her sweet potatoes.
She going to start mixing her ingredients. She got flour, butter, sugar, vanilla, uh, baking powder. What else you got over there, Mickey? She got a couple of eggs that's going to go in there.
>> What else you got that's going in there, Mickey?
>> Vanilla extract, almond extract.
>> Yep, she got it going over there.
>> My cook is going in the oven.
>> And y'all going to get to see my stuffed peppers cuz I'm f to take them out. So, I guess I'mma have to show a picture and just show them just because they coming out the oven. I mean, you know, I'mma go ahead and show those stuffed peppers.

That's all I can do tonight. Mickey gonna tell you how they taste. She have a chance to taste it.

>> Yep. Yep. Yep. I think we have a extra bowl of something over here cuz I got to put the flour and the sugar.
>> Okay. So, Mickey added all her ingredients in just about she got everything added in there. Let me let y'all see how this good feeling look.
She think she got to add her flour in.
But put the flour already. Okay. She put her flour in there already, baby. This is the mixture of the potato bread. What else you got to put in here? Vanilla.
Oh, she going to put vanilla extract.
So, when she put that vanilla extract, we going to pan it up and it's going in the oven. And let me tell you about the potato bread. the potato bread.
Literally, it's a 25 minute prep, but it takes about 45 minutes to bake because you want it to be solid and you want it to have the form and texture of the bread. So, you have to let it bake a little longer, but it's well worth the wait when it's finished baking. I promise you, it's well worth wait.
So yeah, we are excited. Mickey, you ready to pan it up?
>> Oh, she ready to pan it up. So we going to pan it up. And it rises like bread, but we put it in a thin sheet pan cuz we don't want thick thick bread, like a loaf of bread. So we're not making it like a loaf of bread, but it's going to be like flat bread, sweet potato bread, but it does rise. So it has a little bit of rise in it. It's going to be good. I can't wait. One of my favorite things. I probably could eat the whole pan by myself, but I'mma share it tonight. I ain't going to be brief.

Even the venue where I had the uh the reception at the I guess the owner or whoever she was even she requested you at some point for me for an event that they will have she'll get back in touch with me. So you have put your mark you have put your stamp in this city and thank God for it.
