Matthew Perry former assistant sentenced for involvement in actor's death, judge orders

[00:00:06]Kenny wants to express his deepest sympathy for the part that he played in the death of Matthew Perry. Mr. Perry was a man, a friend, his boss, someone who he had the deepest affection for.

[00:00:20]He's been devastated since his death and he and he's continues to be devastated.

[00:00:27]Kenny at all times acted at the direction of Mr. Perry.

[00:00:36]Obtained ketamine at the direction of Mr. Perry Mr. Perry.

[00:00:42]Administered ketamine to Mr. Perry at his direction.

[00:00:48]And as his employee Kenny wishes he could have had the strength to push back and say no.

[00:00:57]And for that he'll ever be Well, he'll always be uh uh uh uh remorseful.

[00:01:07]Kenny is not the only person here that um that partook in this tragic event.

[00:01:16]Um Mr. Perry had agency here. Kenny could have said no.

[00:01:25]And Mr. Perry could have said no.

[00:01:28]And Mr. Perry's loved ones could have been there to say no and help him.

[00:01:36]We we feel that the sentence um uh didn't reflect those substantial mitigating circumstances. The power dynamic here was disproportionate. One person had the power and one person had no power.

[00:01:58]>> You know, these are the kind of wounds that don't heal.

[00:02:00]They really don't. And um you think about it every day, many times every day. But for a long, long time I thought of Kenny as a sweet, helpful man.

[00:02:12]Uh and he often was.

[00:02:14]But he is revealed as a highly manipulative man who um wasn't taking advantage of by Matthew, which would be the other way around.

[00:02:28]He knew that from the very beginning. He was told that repeatedly.

[00:02:31]You see any evidence of drug-related activity, you know who to call.

[00:02:35]And we were all on speed dial.

[00:02:37]It would have taken him 10 seconds and he would have solved the problem. I don't think he wanted to solve the problem.

[00:02:45]>> Do you believe what he said that uh Cann laughs uh Mr. Perry to die?

[00:02:51]>> I think so, yes. I mean, I don't know what other conclusion you can draw.

[00:02:55]When that amount of ketamine was in his system, enough that was three times the dose for an operation to put him under.

[00:03:02]It was enough that the medical examiner said he would have been unconscious in a matter of a second or two and dead very soon thereafter.

[00:03:12]>> Yes, he's ultimately responsible for Mr. Perry's death.

[00:03:17]He had a a responsibility which he had been given by all of us when he went to work directly with Matthew as opposed to the organization where he could be protected.

[00:03:28]But what happens if Matthew gets into any trouble with drugs at all, you call.

[00:03:36]Call his business manager, you call his publicist, you call his agent, you call me, you call his mother, you call his stepmother, you call his father.

[00:03:45]You know, you you have this all on speed dial.

[00:03:48]He should have, he promised to, he could have called us when there was any problem. His job would have been safe, his money would have been safe. Instead, he controls him by the use of ketamine.
