[00:14:15]Hey, The name of this garden from 1945 is Jardan de Pedro Luis Alonso. and you can find more than 70 different roses. The beautiful neoaro building is the city hall of Malaga. The first stone was laid in 1912 and the construction was finished in 1919. The building has three floors and a clock tower. The facade is covered with sculpture of man, garlands of fruit and vegetables.

So now we are just 1 hour drive from uh from El Turkal and we're going to do that hike. I made one with Komote.

El Tocal is an iconic landscape in the anti-quera region of Andalusia, Spain. It reaches an elevation of 137 m above sea level at its highest point. It is a cared landscape characterized by its towering limestone formations and unique rock formations. The area is home to a diverse range of Fna flora including many species of birds, insect and plants found nowhere in the world. As the rock formation here provides valuable insights into the earth's geological history, the park is both a natural and cultural treasure, offering visitors a chance to appreciate the beauty of the natural world as well as the rich cultural heritage of the area.

[00:46:59]>> We are in Kamito del Rey. The original Kamito del Rey. There are three canyon walks in Spain. One in the north, Alcazar. We have done that like 2 years ago. And in April, yes, we have done a very very small one near uh Benorm.

[00:47:18]>> Did I mention I'm afraid of heights? We wanted to do this one for a very long time already and you have to make a reservation. Just make sure that you make reservation. You have to buy tickets otherwise you cannot enter this this canyon. For many years this was a very dangerous spot. Many people died dropped dead in the canyon. There we have to go. This is a little tunnel we have to go in. Really cool.

The path was built around 1901 to facilitate the transport and personnel of goods for the construction of power plants between the Guatanjo and Goro waterfalls. It was officially opened in 1905 and was never intended as a tourist attraction. El Camito del Rey or the king's little pathway was named after King Alono the 13th of Spain who used the path during the inauguration of the Condo del Guadal Horse Dam. Oh yeah, you look so sexy.

[00:49:20]>> In the 20th century, the path was in need of renovation due to many dangerous sections and lack of safety features.

[00:49:27]Still, many people walked this path. In 1999, the first fatal accident occurred on the path and received the name most dangerous path in the world. It was officially closed in 2000. This was the level of the water that was high in the 19th century. So, the water dropped the last 100 years. The first part, the first section was completely destroyed to avoid that people would walk this path. But many were attracted by the danger and even a $6,000 fine could not stop many. Five people died. In 2006, a restoration plan was implanted for approximately €7 million and the renovation pad was opened around the Easter of 2015. You see that's the original part there.

The Alcazaba is an impressive fortress that was built by the Moors in the 11th century. It was built on the site of a Roman fortress and the remains of the Roman walls can still be seen in some areas of the complex. It is a stunning example of Moorish architecture with its distinctive horseshoe arches, intricate tile work and beautiful courtyards. The fortress is built on a hill overlooking the city and visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area from its ramparts. In recent years, the Alcazaba has undergone extensive restoration work to preserve its ancient beauty. Some of the restoration work includes the installation of new lighting, the stabilization of the walls, and the restoration of the gardens and courtyards.

[01:03:13]You will see in this Alcazaba two different influences the Arabic influence and the Roman influence. So it was built first in the 9th century uh and it was then expand in the 11th century because of the walls that was around Malaga. Malaga was completely surrounded with walls and this was a part of it. So they they expanded it. So you have a lot of Arabic influence because of the moors that was living here all over Spain. I think all over Spain or it was just halfway Spain. I don't know. I have to check that out.

[01:03:50]But in the south of Spain, you always have this Arabic influence. The combination of the Arabic and Roman influence. You can see that at the gates. I'm always so crazy about this Arabic Morse influences. Uh like you see in in Granada. Our expectations were high, wasn't it?

[01:04:20]Yes, irrigation system which the Moors were very famous of. So they could keep their uh gardens at a high level uh because of this irrigation system. It's not something recent this irrigation systems. It's existing for many centuries already. So are we getting smarter or dumber? I'm always guessing the second one because if you see the great pyramids of Gizer, these buildings in Mexico are building amazing things without any great tools.

[01:04:56]I guess they were smarter back in the days. And what is also amazing is the price. Uh so you have a combination of this Alcazaba and the castle up there.

I have a walk that starts on on the on the beginning of the Alcazaba and you can walk on the one side, then you visit the castle and then you go back on the other side. Um, but what is amazing is the combination price to enter this Alcazaba and the castle. It was €5 and a half per person to visit these two amazing things. Five and a half.

[01:12:26]You can go in one straight line. It's steep although even if it's the only original, but we wanted to add an extra walk to this day. Uh because surprise surprise, we like to walk. We like to suffer.

[01:12:46]So I'm always trying to make an extra loop uh to have a nice scenery.

[01:12:54]So in the evening we have like we suffered then it's okay. So you don't have to do this walk. Uh it's it's it's really cool to do. It's a park around the castle and you can walk all these small paths. So you don't have to do that. You can go straight to the castle.

[01:13:18]And I was uh putting uh all these uh trips and hikes on my Instagram and there was somebody that was reacting.

[01:13:30]I like your adventures, but I don't think your wife likes your adventures.

Uh and you could go straight from the Alcazaba to the castle more on top and the very important persons and the kings and the princes and everybody who was important stayed here because they are more protected because they are higher. Of course, it's always the same thing that yeah, the more important persons are more protected.

[01:19:44]Now we're going back on the other side of the hill uh to Malaga and visit Malaga a little bit more. We just realized something.

[01:19:57]You don't have to hike up to here. You can park your car here just at the front of the castle or you can take a cab.

So if you are I'm I hope that you are not that you did not clicked away for oh that's not for us but you can visit the castle with a cab or or with uh with just your own car and you can park here. Uh and the Alcazaba is really on the ground on the level of of the uh ancient city on the city center.

[01:20:38]Uh so you can do this without this hike. Oh this is really funny. But in the castle there are a lot of stairs.

[01:20:49]That's something you cannot do that with car or with a gap or with an elevator.

[01:21:05]But before we go inside the uh city, we're going to visit the Roman theater.
