A new name for Cesar Chavez Park

[00:00:01]I'm here at Clark County's Cesar Chavez Park, which is being rebranded after some stunning allegations [music] against its namesake. The Clark County Commission voted Tuesday to rename it to Madiachi Park. Chavis was a civil rights activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers of America, [music] but a New York Times investigation published this spring indicates he sexually abused a young [music] woman, including labor icon Dolores Werta. County Commissioners said that the new name reflects the [music] history shared between Mexico and Las Vegas. Clark County Commissioner Tick Seager Blum called it a very [music] positive thing during the Tuesday meeting and highlighted a celebration happening at the park this Saturday.
