Your experience of reality is filtered through your belief system, meaning you don't see objective reality but rather your interpretation of it; since your brain processes millions of information pieces per second but can only consciously process a tiny fraction, it automatically filters out what doesn't align with your beliefs, which is why two people can experience the same situation completely differently and why changing your beliefs changes what you become aware of in life.

You're Not Seeing Reality... You're Seeing Your Beliefs
Added:Hi everybody. Welcome back to another video. [snorts] Before we begin, I want you to do something. I want you to just look around your room. The room that you're in right now. Just look around it. What do you notice?
Now, here is the interesting part.
Someone else could walk into that exact same room [clears throat] and notice something completely different, totally different things. [snorts] They could focus on different colors, different objects, different details, and even leave with a completely different impression of the room than you.
>> [snorts] >> So, which one of you saw the room correctly?
You both did because you do not experience reality as it is. You experience reality through the lens of your beliefs. Okay?
And that is what today's video is about.
Today I want to show you why two people can live in the same world yet have completely different lives.
Why your brain is constantly filtering reality and why changing your beliefs doesn't just change how you feel, it changes what you become aware of.
>> [snorts] >> If you have ever wondered why some people seem to find love everywhere, opportunities everywhere, kindness everywhere, whilst others only ever seem to find rejection and struggle and disappointment, [snorts] this video might completely change the way that you see your life.
So, let's have a quick drink.
The world is not what you see, it's what you believe.
Have you ever noticed that two people can live in the same town, work in the same company, have similar incomes, and [snorts] yet experience completely different worlds?
One believes that people are kind and the other believes people are selfish.
One sees opportunity.
The other sees obstacles.
One feels grateful to be alive.
The other feels like life is always against them.
So which one is seeing reality?
And that is one of the biggest questions that we can ask because [snorts] what if I told you that you do not experience an objective world.
You experience your perception of the world and your perception is filtered through your belief system. Okay, think about this.
There are over 8 billion people on the planet.
>> [snorts] >> If there was one completely objective world that everyone experienced in exactly the same way, wouldn't we all be having the exact same experiences?
Wouldn't we all agree on what people are like?
Wouldn't we all have the same relationships?
maybe the same opportunities, the same careers, the same emotional reactions, but we don't.
[snorts] Every single human being lives inside their own psychological world.
Not because the physical world does not exist, but because our experience of it is always filtered through our conditioning, through our beliefs, through our assumptions, through our memories, through our expectations and through our identity. You are not experiencing life.
You are experiencing your interpretation of life and they are two very different things.
Our brains receive an unimaginable amount of information every second.
I believe scientists estimate it's millions and millions of pieces of information per second. And your conscious mind can only process a tiny tiny fraction of that. So what happens to everything else?
Your brain filters it.
And how does your brain know what to filter?
Because of your belief system, because of your identity, the story that you have about yourself, the story you have about other people, the story that you have about the world.
It's like wearing a pair of glasses that you've forgotten that you're wearing.
After a while, the Sorry, my battery is about to run out. After a while, you think the glasses are reality, but they're not.
They are just the lens.
Let me give you an example.
Imagine that someone who believes people always leave.
Okay, that person walks into every relationship unconsciously looking for proof.
If their partner takes longer to reply to a message, [snorts] their mind says, "See, I knew it. They're pulling away."
[snorts] if their partner maybe wants a night out with their friends.
See, everyone else is more important than I am.
If their partner maybe, I don't know, seems distracted, their mind instantly says they're losing interest because the belief is constantly collecting evidence.
Now imagine another person with exactly the same partner.
Their belief is I am deeply loved. [snorts] When their partner takes longer to reply to a message, they simply think, "Oh, [snorts] they're just busy. They'll message me back when when they're free." They're not worried about it.
[snorts] When their partner goes out with friends, their mind goes to I'm glad they're enjoying themselves.
Same event, completely different experience because the belief created the meaning.
Or think about buying a new car.
The moment that you decide you want a particular model, you suddenly see it everywhere.
Did thousands of people rush out overnight and buy that car?
No, they did not.
It was always there.
Your brain simply decided that it mattered.
And the same thing happens with love.
The same thing happens with money. The same thing happens with health. The same thing happens with success. The same thing happens with friendship. The same thing happens with kindness. The same thing happens with abundance, with opportunity. Your brain is not showing you the whole truth of reality. It's showing you what it has learned over the years is important to you.
Now [snorts] I'm going to put an image on the screen and look at this image.
It's full of color.
Absolutely full of color, full of travel, full of love, full of adventure, full of nature, full of animals, full of celebration, of friendship, of abundance, of beauty, of freedom, of opportunity, of wonder.
It's all there.
Everything is there. But the person walking through it only sees the gray path even though everything else is there. And that's not because the colorful world disappeared. It's always been there, but because that is the only part that their filter allows them to notice.
And honestly, most of us have lived our entire life like that. I know I did years ago. All I noticed was what was wrong.
All I noticed was rejection. All I noticed was problems, anxiety, fear.
Everything that confirmed the beliefs that I had about myself.
And I genuinely genuinely thought that that was reality.
I did not realize that I was looking through a filter through a lens. I had no idea.
And here is something worth thinking about. If I asked you to spend the next week, two weeks, looking for evidence that people are selfish, you would find the evidence.
If I asked you to spend the next week looking for evidence that people are generous, you would find that, too.
If I asked you to spend the next week or two looking for signs that life is really unfair, you will collect hundreds of signs.
Hundreds.
If I asked you to look for moments of beauty, the sunset, someone holding a door open for you, a stranger smiling, a child laughing, a dog excited to see its owner.
You would find all of those two because the evidence is everywhere.
>> [snorts] >> The question isn't whether it exists.
The question is what have you trained yourself to notice and this is why I say that the world is not happening to you. [snorts] You are participating in the experience through the meaning you continually give it.
That doesn't mean that difficult things don't happen and it doesn't mean that suffering isn't real and it doesn't mean that injustice doesn't exist. Of course they all do.
But they are not the totality of existence.
There is beauty alongside pain.
There is love alongside loss.
There is hope alongside despair.
There is abundance alongside scarcity.
And the filter determines which dominates your experience. It's as simple as that. [snorts] And this is also why changing your life isn't just about changing circumstances.
People [snorts] spend years and years and years trying to rearrange the outside world, but they still keep the same beliefs.
They might get a new job, but they have the same identity. They may get into new relationship, but they have the same insecurities.
They may experience more money, but they have the same scarcity mindset and they wonder why their life still feels the same. Because they didn't change because wherever you go, your beliefs go with you.
So the real work is not asking how do I change my world.
The real work is asking what beliefs am I looking through? What lens am I looking through? Because once that lens changes, the world begins to look different.
Not because reality suddenly changed because it was always there, okay? But because you are finally noticing parts of reality that your old beliefs filtered out.
And this is where awareness becomes really, really important because once you become aware of something, you can change it. [snorts] You are not your beliefs. You are the one aware of your beliefs.
You are not your thoughts.
You are what is aware of your thoughts.
You are not your emotions.
You are what is aware of your emotions.
And that awareness existed way before any belief that you ever learned.
As children, we were not born believing that we weren't good enough. We learned it. We assigned a meaning to things.
We weren't born believing that money was hard to come by. We learned it or we assigned meaning with our childlike mind. We were not born believing that we had to earn love, that love was conditional. We learned that if I do this then I will be loved. If I do this then I will be accepted. And the good thing is anything that's been learned can be unlearned. It can be questioned.
It can be released. It can be replaced.
[snorts] So today I want to leave you with one question.
Instead of asking why does my life keep happening this way, ask yourself what am I believing that is causing me to see life this way?
Because that single question has the power to change your life.
Not because you are changing the world but because you are changing the lens through which the world is experienced.
And when the lens changes, you begin to notice that love was always here, [snorts] that opportunity was always here, that beauty was always here, that abundance was always here.
You simply changed the lens that you were looking at life through and then it became available for you to see.
If there is one thing I hope you take away from this video, it is this.
The world is not simply something that is happening to you.
Your experience of the world is being filtered through what you believe.
So before you try to change your circumstances, ask yourself, what lens am I looking through?
Because when the lens changes, your experience changes.
Not because you have forced reality to become different because everything already exists, but because you have become aware of possibilities, of beauty, of love and opportunities that were there all along.
[snorts] If this video resonated with you, let me know in the comments.
Let me know in the comments what is one belief that you are now ready to let go of and what new belief would you like to start living from?
I genuinely would love to hear your thoughts. [snorts] And if you enjoyed this conversation, don't forget to like the video, subscribe to the channel, and share the video with someone who needs to hear this reminder.
Thank you so much for being here and until next time, remember this.
You are not your stories that you have been told.
You are not the beliefs that you have inherited.
They never belong to you in the first place. You are the awareness in which they appear.
Take care and I will see you in the next one.
