Time For New Tracks On The Skid Loader!Added:
Holy aggressive doggo.
It just died. Yeah. La.
Ouch. Sliver hip. Hit bone.
Is it hard?
Taking a while.
Oh my. So, today it's fun project. I think we'll be replacing these tracks and we'll show you um why when we get into the project, but the new one showed up this morning and preparations are beginning for cleaning cleaning. He's supposed to be in a truck right now, but the elevator shut him down. Is that a better job than this job?
>> Yeah.
So, here sits the uh new tracks that will be going on in substantially better shape. So, we got to finish up cleaning and then we can uh get it in here and it'll hopefully go better in here than it did the last time when it fell off in the field cuz that wasn't fun at all.
What's he doing?
Parks it right in a puddle.
>> What? You got a 80 foot shop here and you park in a mud puddle.
>> There's gravel everywhere. Mud puddles.
Where do I go?
>> We have to get Doug on this job.
I think I'm going to need a block, guys.
Way too much jacking needed. Got to get a block now. Do you remember >> how to do this? Well, I sort of to do, but do you remember when Jordan rolled this one off last fall or >> the other side?
>> Um, and then when we used the bucket to hold then the the door, it sagged and then the door. So, we should just take the door off right away.
>> Yeah. But I think we fixed that issue though, the sagging.
But we should take the door off.
>> I don't want trouble.
>> Okay, I'll go work on that. You work on this.
>> Something's not working right. This again.
Look at how stable my board is. I got it.
>> I was impatient.
>> He asked for help and then he just does it all by himself. Can I put this face down on sliding across the concrete?
Look at Doug on his headset just cleaning away, ramming stuff. Just no respect. Okay, hopefully it took us like an hour to put the track back on when it rolled off in the field, but we did not have proper equipment. Now, hopefully with the crane, nice hard ground to work with that this don't take too terribly long. But I've been lied to before on a project being easy and that ain't the right size.
It's really swinging.
>> Hey, I actually I just watched the Hannah Montana 20th year anniversary.
Your wife made you watch that, huh?
>> Uh, she watched it and she was disappointed and then I was bored, so I watched it. Yeah, I did. I did watch the Hannah Montana 20-year anniversary.
>> I feel sorry for you.
>> It wasn't too bad.
>> It's not this size either either, is it?
>> You have 916.
>> Is it metric? There's a fortune horn.
>> You got a wonderful parking spot for that.
>> Is it a 14?
>> No.
No. We should be saving that grease.
>> Okay.
Grease tension. So, you loosen that grease fitting up and it pukes out the grease, releasing some of the pressure or all of the pressure. From my experience, it releases some of the pressure.
>> I think some >> some and then the the fight can take place. So, instead of a comealong to pull that back, we're just putting tension on the uh track with the crane. And it's working.
It's making a pretty design.
>> Beautiful.
>> What? It's somewhat wasteful. Oh, it's still coming out.
>> Honestly, that worked very, very good. So, we got this pushed back farther than I've ever succeeded before.
>> Pull it off.
>> I think honestly I think if we take get in here, lower the bucket down, we should be able to peel this off.
This might go better than uh I anticipated.
>> YOU NEED HELP.
>> What are you yelling about?
A lot of bending and a lot of We really need to uh call up Proline and get that cheat sheet on how to properly service and maintain.
And I just have this feeling that there's something more than what we do that needs to be done.
>> I see you doing what I told you not to do again.
>> What?
That's what the catch pan is for. I just have to clean it.
>> Harvesting this much gravel >> just in a couple of spots.
The whole shop >> basically. I'm like don't don't do that.
No, >> don't.
>> Proceeds. He proceeds. I see you've got the whole thing done.
What >> the shot?
>> Well, yeah. That's the intent is when you start, you finish, right?
Right to the brim.
Whoa.
You really make him mad.
>> Hey guys, quick break in today's video to talk to you about aura. What a wonderful time because it's almost Mother's Day. And whether that mother is your wife, maybe it's your mother or your grandmother, they will all enjoy an Aura frame just like this one. I've got two of them. I got one at home and I got one at work. The thing I like the most about it is you can upload photos to the app anywhere. I can upload a photo to surprise the wife with something at home from at work. She also uploads photos like those. So, what an Aura frame is all about is you open it up and you can actually preload photos on this before it ships. It also has unlimited amount of uploads. So, you can actually upload videos, photos to it. And like I said before, you can do it from anywhere.
Have it pop up right on this one. So, I think this one's going to go to my mother actually. She don't know that yet. Named number one by wire cutter.
You can save on gifts mom loved by visiting oruraframes.com. For a limited time, listeners can save $25 off their bestselling Carver Matt frame with code laren. That's a rafra.com, promo code lararsson. Support the channel by mentioning us at checkout cuz terms and conditions apply. Once again, thank you for sponsoring today's video.
And let's get back to it. Okay, front's got to come off first. Doug.
Yeah, he's going to run the boom or the bucket. Cody's going to back up. I will man the crane if needed.
I think you can. Yeah, back on, Brody.
Hang on.
Uh, pull ahead, Brody.
Yeah.
Then go down.
Little more.
Yeah.
Okay. Up.
Keep going.
Yep.
Try pulling Brody.
Looking good.
Okay, hang on. Stop.
There we go.
It's just that easy. So, as you can tell, tread's like unbelievable because we're typically not on cement. cement or asphalt is typically what wears the face off. Where skid loader tracks fail from our experience is these cracks right here eventually rip to the outside. How many hours are on this, Dad?
Oh, I think it was like,400 hours. No, it's getting less. The odome the tachometer is going down instead of up,70 now today.
>> That's impossible.
>> Well, that's what I would say too, but I could have swore there was like 1350 on them.
>> You must have been looking at it wrong.
>> 1170.
Put them back on. They're still 400 hours of live.
>> So, around that 13 to,500 hours is when our last set failed. And like this one is ripping out. And where it really gets concerning is this one. It's starting from the outside and working its way in.
And as many miles as we put it on. It's not really the the load we put on rock picking, but it's the miles we put on. I don't want track down in the uh field.
So we will have these for sale. I don't know if they have 50 hours in them or 500 hours left in them. But you selling them, Doug? How much you want?
>> Sitting on one spot twisting the machine is taken and lessen the hours on these sets by 400 hours cuz we got 1500 hours out of the other set.
>> I really think that you're looking at the wrong hour meter.
>> Well, how many hour meters are in this thing? So, long story short, they're getting replaced before we have a machine in the field. It's not fun.
What?
>> Three-point turns.
You heard it here first.
>> Oo, that rip is really bad.
>> No, they're like do for sale. Never used on a Sunday. Grandma driven.
>> Fun fact, when we traded the last one, it was somewhere in the 1400 $1,500 range.
>> 15 >> 15. We drove it on the trailer with the track ripped in half. Like it was ripped from here to there, just barely hanging on, which they knew that the tracks were shot. But we tried one more job with her and that was it. And if you don't catch it and know that they're getting weak, you can roll them off then really easily. They would be perfect for a a spare.
But I don't know what a spare track is worth. 400. Is that too much? I know what we paid for these. There. There.
You heard it. 400 bucks a set. Per side.
>> Per side.
>> 800 going once.
>> 600 for both.
>> Wow. That's a heck of a discount. That's not how that works.
>> I don't know. I just know you always start high because everybody's like me.
They start low and then somewhere somewhere you'll find each other.
>> What are you doing right now?
>> Looking for love.
>> No, you're looking for internet love.
No, that that's Don't even go there.
>> And this is what new ones look like. So, how are we doing for actual tread wear?
There's a groove.
So, we've wore off/4 to 38 of an inch. This whole lug is pretty much gone off them other tracks.
There is more wear on them than I thought they would. Think of the traction we'll have to dig holes and bend your rock bucket this spring. Doug, >> you know how that traction gets lost?
>> By not taking four point turns, Dougle.
>> Finally, you got it.
>> Oh, that's right. You're going to inspect those.
>> They are very stiff. They're all like that. So, it must be fine. Man, no wonder they take so much power to turn fast.
>> Unbelievable.
What's your thinking here? We're going to get the grain back in that side.
>> We need more >> lubricant.
>> You're taking off already, right? When everything's getting sketchy.
>> No, I don't want to see it correct.
Oh, >> got too much slack there.
>> Yeah, I think you might have to come around.
>> He sold these to you. Where's the guy that sold them to us?
>> Billy?
>> Yeah, I've seen him out here this morning.
>> Yeah, he didn't offer up the service for free.
>> Drop them off and see you later. He'll >> Oh, here's the receipt.
>> He'll come help put them on, but he won't like the bail that comes with it.
It's appearing like it's doing okay.
Hold up. I think we're going to have to have dad drive that back wheel so it snaps down in. And also your bucket sagging. So you need to go up some. I was just envisioning in my mind on which way do you steer the skid loader? You need to drive just this motor one way or the other cuz the cogs are on the >> turn to the right.
>> Envisioning turn here. You look >> I think left. You need to go left, I would say. Okay, it's turning.
It's not dropping in.
Oh, go the other way.
Yeah, it's just binding.
Everything's binding.
We're lin We're lined up. No more driving. Uh, put your bucket down to raise it up.
Holy aggressive doggo.
What's >> that noise? It's >> the It's the bucket makes a weird noise.
It just died. Push some.
Raise up some. Brody.
>> Yeah. La.
We're nowhere near our pipes being able to insert.
I think we might have to lower the heel down some.
How hard are you pulling back?
Yeah, it's not not enough to give her more power.
>> Hang on, hang on, hang on.
Is >> it working?
>> No, it won't slide. I It's like it's glued to the cement.
>> Does he need to go up?
>> I don't think so.
I just don't understand why it won't slide. Keep going.
Stop. Stop.
Stop.
Okay. Can go again.
Hang on. Drive forward again.
Oh, stop.
Yep.
I I think we're on.
Drive forward again.
Okay. Lower it to the ground.
Okay, shutter down.
It's just that simple.
Really ain't too bad. It's just to If you did this every day, I'm sure the Bobcat guys were like, first off, they make actual nice tools instead of just random pipe.
But we're doing her. We're making her work. Was that nerve-wracking?
>> No, but I'm pretty stiff.
>> Why? I don't know how I'm going to survive planting. Holy moly.
>> You haven't been doing your workout sessions?
>> No. I should climb the grain band a few times. And don't poke that. That got >> Easter yesterday. You should have seen how this guy can eat.
>> Are you bloated yesterday?
>> Bloated?
That's just the size of it.
We'll just let this pump for 10 minutes.
Takes a while. Okay. So, we got it tensioned. Obviously, when it's jacked up in the air, needed 3/4 to 7/8, says the book of gapage between this one or that one. Middle one. Well, they both were about the same. So, we went to the tighter side cuz likely they're probably going to wear in some without a doubt.
One side done. I should have really recorded that cuz that was like I don't know 2 minutes. That went a lot smoother. You ready to flip one? You want me to get that over here?
>> Yeah. I wish I could drive it over there.
>> Oh, my gut just really went wle there.
>> A bubble gut.
>> Did you hear that?
>> No.
>> Oh, man.
>> Which way you got to flip this? Have to go the other way.
>> Hey, just watch us struggle.
>> One, two, three.
>> Yeah, that's right. That's got to go forward.
I wonder if this is We're getting some hooking.
I wonder when that gets replaced. It's made so you can only run it on one side, too. It looks like made in China. They're made in China.
They're China. Dougle, what's not from China?
>> I have to go to the bathroom.
It's hitting Come on, man.
>> You off the phone yet?
>> Yes.
>> Town board troubles, huh?
>> Well, nothing is easy.
That's all I'll say.
>> Okay, we're ready now. Brody's on the phone, but I think I can manage >> you. I need you to now do the opposite thing that you were doing on that side on this side.
>> And we need to go forward.
>> That seemed to work a lot better.
>> So, I'll go to the left on the joystick >> opposite of whatever you were doing.
>> Yep. Forward.
>> Forward.
>> Do it.
>> Yeah.
Oh. Oh. Back up a little bit.
Yep. Yep. Forward. Yeah. A little more.
Yeah. Yeah. Oh, forklift time. I got to get the forklift. Just riding on her with the park brake on. Down a little. Pull ahead.
Oh. Oh. Oh.
Stop.
Nice try.
>> It's not a trimmer, Dougle.
>> Good one.
>> God, dang it.
>> I didn't put the fourth one in. We're going to have You're going to have to get back in the skitty. Keep going.
>> You got it.
up.
>> Ouch.
I always wear gloves.
>> Maybe you go up and down with it from top to bottom. There we go.
>> Uh, go up higher.
I'm scared.
I don't know more there.
>> I don't know. I can't see a thing.
>> Man, they smell like cattleman.
They're coming.
Oh.
Uh, back up.
Yep.
Okay, it's on.
>> Oh, no. Raise it up. We need it in the air. Yep.
Tensioning time. Sliver. Hit. Hit bone.
That should have never hit the bone.
>> Hit the bone.
>> Whatever. I got to go home. I've been hurt, >> right?
>> Yeah. So, Doug has a thing about driving stuff with a park brake on. You want to tell them about what you did to my pickup very shortly after I got it.
>> Well, it's an inferior product.
>> It was one of the first vehicles that came around the farm that you can't drive with the door open, which is super annoying like when hooking up to a trailer. It puts the emergency park brake on, which is electric nowadays, not the the foot lever deal, but it's the same thing. And he calls, >> and where was that where was that button located?
>> Down by your left knee. And uh he calls me up, I don't know if you're going to get this out of the field. The truck is pulling for all it has. And I'm like, it's I was >> 700 horsepower. There's no way that it can't pull that head trailer. So, I was pulling I I had the door open and I was backing up to the head trailer, I believe, and I wanted to hear cuz I had the extended hitch out and I wanted to hear the hitch click together. Didn't know that the automatic emergency brake gets applied. So, I hear it click together after forcefully backing up because it was already on. Put her in the drive and just It moved. I got it to move.
But she was >> You are so lucky you didn't pretzel my drive shaft.
>> It's just not I don't know. It just is all set up as >> you can drive a TRX pulling a head trailer for about 50 yards with >> it. Just takes 3/4 of the throttle to get her to go.
>> Oh yeah. So, I wasn't too happy about that, actually.
>> I wasn't happy about the whole situation either.
>> Booby tracks.
>> Yeah. So, I get there and show them.
Yeah. Here's the park break that you got to turn this on because I had also had this problem with the door opening trying to hook up to stuff. Very poor. I understand the safety feature, but >> No, I don't understand the safety feature.
>> Why? What do you think should happen?
It's there to keep you from falling out.
>> Yeah, you're going to fall out. You You choose to open the door for a reason and drive a little bit. You should be able to do that. You don't need those people that fall out of the door because it's open and they're trying to drive. Let them fall out.
It'll wean out the gene pool a little bit. Now, I know that's going to get me some hate because there are some terrible stories out there. So, maybe I'm wrong. It could be I'm wrong, Brody.
Am I wrong?
>> What?
>> I'm wrong. I bet >> you're wrong.
>> But you know what I mean. It It's just the principle of >> You don't want anyone to get killed. But >> no, but I would like myself not to have high blood pressure when stuff like that happen. I could have died of >> heart attack. Anger. Anger stroked them out.
>> What is going on? And this 4minute segment has turned into him rotting on this with the park brake on. Why won't it?
>> It just was laboring so bad.
>> We're ready for you to tension her up here again, Brody.
>> Okay, I got to go take a picture of what I found in the >> bathroom.
>> No, in the window of the old shop I'm cleaning. And it's a specimen.
>> We have to show you guys what that looks like here shortly.
>> Should I Snapchat it or do we put it on camera? What I found? I'll do both Instagram also for the grand.
>> So Brody, myself, Doug spent a good amount of time in here the other day. A large amount of time cleaning this workbench. There wasn't anything in this area. Doug has now just created another mess. So I imagine it's time for you to lose interest and walk away.
>> Well, yeah. I thought I'd let you guys find a place for all this stuff. Look at all them connectors down there that I saved from my years of uh working. Yep. Those are for the lights that were in here.
>> So, what do you got here?
>> Well, I was vacuuming here and I think I found >> That's filthy.
>> I got to wash it now. I found up in this corner a perfect specimen that might have eaten all the flies. And he actually died of a of a bloated stomach.
Yeah, >> it is a big one. He gorged himself so much. What are those? Dragonflies.
>> Dragonfly. Don't now. He's kind of crunchy. He'll break.
>> He'll break.
>> Put him on your office desk. I'm going to take a Snapchat.
Things you find when you're cleaning.
He's crunchy.
You okay? You okay?
>> He's not okay.
>> This is how he does it. Behind the scenes look of Doug's Instagram. Thing I'll never understand is why you take pictures of signs anywhere you go.
>> Signs.
>> Here we are.
>> Oh, I South Dakota signs.
I'm proud to go to that state.
It's not going to be enough. We're close. Well, we're very close.
Are we there?
Ouch. That's 3/4.
Man, that looks tight. Well, there it is. There's a track job on a Skiddy. Did we make it look really hard or really easy? Cuz I thought that went pretty good. All right, he's going to bring the planter back in here. We did do more than what uh this video shows we did today. Uh we worked on a the 58T digger pump tires. You guys have seen us do that twice already. I didn't think I needed to share. I had no creative ideas on that project. So it drives. They didn't fall off.
Luckily on these there's no alignment.
So it is what it is cuz they're actually steel instead of rubber. Those things have rubber on them right now, but that's gone in like probably the first day. So, yeah, looks good. New rubbers.
She is ready for spring rock picking season, which if the weather would ever shape up, we could go and do. We're all getting kind of sick of the shop. Be totally honest with you. It's time to get out and do something. Even if it's rock picking, but it's all mud still.
With that being said, guys, uh yeah, we're done. We're out of here. It's the end of the day. We're parking stuff away. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed it. We'd love to see you hit subscribe if you have not. It's free.
Helps us out. Helps boost the channel to more viewers. Also, liking it. Drop a comment. Tell us how we did that all wrong. We'll see you guys next time.
