RI Federal Judge quashes DOJ youth medical treatment subpoena

[00:00:00]Well, we're hearing more today from civil rights advocates after a Rhode Island US District Court judge quashed a subpoena from the US Department of Justice last night that was demanding details of transgender youth medical treatments. The DOJ was trying to get information and medical records for young patients treated for gender dysphoria at Rhode Island Hospital. A judge in Texas had previously ruled that Rhode Island Hospital should have to release the records, but judge Mary McElroy quashed the subpoena slamming the Department of Justice federal prosecutors saying in part they'd been proven unworthy point in the case. The office of Rhode Island's child advocate said today in a statement quote, "No child or family should ever have to fear that the most intimate details of their lives are subject to unnecessary exposure by the federal government when seeking medical care."
