People tend to rationalize their preferences after forming them, rather than reasoning first and then deciding; this cognitive pattern, observed in moral reasoning (Moral Foundations Theory), applies equally to video game preferences where fans find reasons to defend games they like even when those reasons lack logical consistency.

Post Hoc Rationalization #legendofzelda #twilightprincess追加:
They don't call them Nintendroids and Nintendrones for no reason. Uh but what's funny about that is you know, it's the whole like take the take the plank out of your own eye before you criticize someone else cuz every fanbase has that. We we all we all have that. We we like the thing so therefore we will find reasons to defend it. It's basically sorry, I'm I'm actually reading The Righteous Mind right now by Jonathan Haidt and I brought it up before like Moral Foundations Theory, but what he's he found in his research that basically people have these moral intuitions and then they reason after that to justify those moral intuitions.
And we do the same thing with the the things that we like in video games. We naturally Hey, I like this. Therefore, I'm going to defend it after the fact.
>> [laughter] >> Like I'm not going to say I like this and then because of these reasons I'm going to say this I appreciate this and then I will I will defend it to my dying breath even if it doesn't make any logical sense.
