A cold front passing through an area typically brings thunderstorms and hail initially, followed by more stable conditions with cloud cover and potential light precipitation; meteorologists forecast weather by analyzing surface winds, upper-level systems, moisture availability, and atmospheric energy to predict temperature changes, precipitation chances, and severe weather risks over the coming days.

Cold front brings cooler temps to San Antonio | KENS 5 Weather Impact ForecastAdded:
For us, it was the same same frontal boundary that came through yesterday.
For us, we had some big thunderstorms in the morning, like around Enchanted Rock, up around Gillespie County, up around Lano. Had some really like tennis ballsiz hail up there uh yesterday morning if you missed that. Okay, in the wake of that cold front, things are more stable out there this morning. We've got cloud cover and it's going to be a cloudy morning. It's going to be a cloudy day for us. We may have a few sprinkles, maybe a few showers out there. Hey, let's fast forward. So maybe a few sprinkles today. I think Friday, yeah, a little bit better chance of seeing maybe a shower or thunderstorm.
And then as the upper level system approaches Friday night into Saturday morning, we've got a marginal risk for some flooding. I think there is a chance for some heavy thunderstorm activity Friday night into Saturday morning. And again, with some of the rains we've had lately, if with if you get a pick up a real heavy downpour, you could have a little localized flooding. All right, today high temperature right around 73, average high 84. So below average, our low temperature this morning, right around 62, 63, which is close to average for this time of the year, 101. That was a record high set back in 2022. And so far this year, we picked up over 11 inches of rain. We're doing okay. All right. Uh this morning, cloudy skies, maybe a few sprinkles out there. I'll give it a about a 20% chance of picking up a shower. High temperature 73. If you're doing anything this evening, temperatures in the 60s with cloud cover out there this evening. All right, here's what's happening. We've got northerly winds at the surface, northeasterly winds, relatively cool, upper level system out to the west. That gives us a southwest flow above that.
Every once in a while, you'll see some sprinkles. I think a lot of this is false return, but I haven't seen a whole lot on the radar, but a few sprinkles possible. Maybe a 20% chance picking up a shower. Temperature 63, Valley 67, Howitzville coming in at 66. All right, here's what's going to happen as we head through the day today. High temperature about 73. Dallas Fort Worth in the mid70s. 70s in the plain states. You know, that frontal boundary that came through yesterday did uh cause those temperatures to drop in the deep south.
Mississippi not nearly as warm as it was yesterday. Highs around New Orleans at about 77. Upper level system out to the west. We've got overrunning today, just enough mainly for cloud cover. Again, maybe a few sprinkles here or there.
Tomorrow, as that system gets closer, a little bit better chance. And then Friday night into Saturday morning, we could have some strong thunderstorms just depending on if we have enough moisture in the atmosphere coming back.
If the available potential energy comes up, maybe a chance for some severe storms Friday night into Saturday morning. Definitely a chance for some heavy rain. And then with this system here, watch Sunday night could have a few thunderstorms coming in. That is a long shot, but I'll show you that in the 14-day today. Lots of clouds, temperatures in the 70s for a high, 73, 74. Uh tomorrow morning, some sprinkles, some showers around. Chance for a shower tomorrow. Highs anywhere from the mid to upper 70s near 80. And then here's Friday night into Saturday morning.
Could have some locally heavy downpours at that time. All right, mold is moderate. Grass is light. Forecast for tomorrow near 80 for a high. Chance for a shower or storm. 40% chance Friday night into Saturday morning. 50/50 shot in the morning. Mainly 86. Mother's Day, upper 80s. and then a chance for a thunderstorm Sunday night into Monday morning. It's a slim shot though. And then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, highs mid to upper 80s. And then a better chance for some scattered showers and storms 14th through the 19th. Okay, let's take a look at what
