Public transport systems should be designed with accessibility in mind for all users, including those with non-visible disabilities like lymphedema, which causes widespread body swelling and extra physical burden; small acts of kindness such as offering priority seats can significantly improve the daily experience for individuals who may not be able to advocate for themselves.

What’s it like travelling on public transport with a non-visible disability?Added:
The world isn't always built with disabled people [music] in mind. I have lymphedema and this is how it affects me when I'm traveling. Let's get cracking.
My condition causes widespread swelling [music] throughout my body. Most of my limbs are filled with fluid, which means I'm carrying a lot of extra weight. So, physically, [music] things are a lot more difficult for me. When you look at me, you might not notice anything, but underneath my clothes, I wear tight full body compression to help manage my condition. [music] When I'm traveling to a job in filming TV, I rely on the tube to get around. And standing for long periods of time can be really uncomfortable, but I sometimes feel really awkward about asking for a seat.
This is why this little badge helps so much. Oops, wrong one. Not yet, guys.
The TfL Priority Seat Badge lets people know I might need a seat without having to explain my condition. Because not all disabilities are visible, but kindness always is. Keeping an eye out for others like me who may need a priority seat can really make a big difference to someone's day. Thanks for helping make travel easier for everyone. All the best, guys. [music]
