After a cool front passes, temperatures may not cool significantly even though winds become calmer, as the front may only bring a temporary break in heat rather than a substantial temperature drop.

Winds calmer but temperatures not much cooler after cool frontAdded:
You'll notice there is not a single cloud in the sky to start off your Monday and this is all due to that high pressure system that's hiding on the eastern side of the state, but it's not just that one. There's also another high pressure system that we are going to keep our eye on for the next couple of days. But as you step out the door 53 right now for us here in the Duke City.
So if that's quite a bit chilly for you, you may want to add on a little bit of some extra layering, but if you find that to be pretty comfortable, then maybe just a t-shirt or a long sleeve shirt if if that's more of your style.
Now, again, high pressure is going to be the main topic of conversation both today and especially for the day tomorrow. That ridge that we've been dealing with for the last couple of days giving us that very warm Mother's Day weekend sticks around for the next couple of days. Now we do have at least another weak cool front on the way Tuesday into Wednesday, but we're going to put the quotes of cool front on this because as you'll see from those Tuesday highs to the Wednesday highs, it's just really going to feel more like a less hot front. Pretty much what we saw going through that Saturday to Sunday time frame with the last frontal system that we had. Now tomorrow, it's going to be quite warm out there. Most of us are going to see those highs getting up into the 90s by tomorrow, 92 for us here in the metro, 96 in Roswell, 94 for our friends down in the Hobbs area. So we are going to watch for a little bit more of that building of a moderate heat risk where heat related illnesses will start coming into play a little bit more for individuals that are quite a bit more sensitive to that extreme heat. Now Wednesday is likely to see a more spread or we'll see more spread especially around some of those city centers of Roswell, Carlsbad, Hobbs, Tucumcari, Santa Rosa, here in the Duke City as well, where that may impact you just a little bit more because even with that cool front on the way again, we're going to put the quotes around the cool front because notice it's still going to be pretty hot out there as we get into Wednesday afternoon. 80s and 90s, but a lot of us are going to see once again highs getting into the 90s versus the 80s. Now with this cold front on the way, there are modeled guidance data that is trying to spit out maybe some spotty showers out there for some. Uh but I do think that it's going to be pretty low for the chance, maybe a 10% chance for central and northwestern areas. Again, very, very low, but if we do get to see something, then any one of those storms or showers could even be more on the dry thunderstorm type of activity where it'll produce some lightning, some gustier winds, and unfortunately, rainfall amounts are going to be very, very, very, very minimal. And again, there's really not a lot of confidence with this type of situation happening with some showery activity. I think most areas are likely to remain dry, especially for Roswell.
Silver City might at least get a little bit of some pops of clouds out there for Silver City.
But it's going to be quite warm out there again for the next couple of days, and then we finally get a little bit of a break once we close out the back half of the week. It's still going to be warm, don't get me wrong, but we'll take the lower 80s for some versus the lower 90s for others. Santa Fe, again, getting up into the upper 80s tomorrow and Wednesday, and then by Friday, lower 80s are expected. So again, little bit of cooler air, but it's still going to feel very much on the warm side. Mid 80s for us here across the Duke City as we go into mid-afternoon today. Again, warmer tomorrow and Wednesday, could still be in the low 90s by Thursday for Rio Rancho. By Friday, we'll be at least a few degrees cooler.
