[00:00:04]LEARN THE difference between we have a problem and you have a problem. The story starts in the year 2005. We see David, a 22-year-old guy who lives in Miami and works for a massage company at the same time. But David was getting bored of making money by touching old rich people. [music] David had dropped out of college after just one semester, after which he had a fight with his parents. Before this, David had already been fired from six different jobs and he had left some jobs on his own as well. That is why he did not have many options left now. David bought some bed sheets with all his life savings and went to sell them inside old age homes.

[00:00:41]But things did not work out there either because the owner of the old age home actually had no interest in giving comfort to the elderly. One evening during a party, he met his best friend from school, Ephraim. David had not even spoken to Ephraim for years. Ephraim lived in LA with his uncle and did weapons business. But then his uncle cheated him out of some money. So Ephraim left his uncle's house and decided to come to Miami and start his own business, which was named AEY.

[00:01:08][music] Driving around together in a car, they went out to buy some green stuff. But Ephraim got fooled by some thugs hanging around outside his dealer's house and they snatched [music] his money. To teach the thugs a lesson, Ephraim pulled out a machine gun from his car's trunk and started firing shots rapidly into the sky, which scared the thugs and made them run away from there. But this thing had a deep impact on David because he was tired of hearing his insults repeatedly from people's mouths and he liked people who had the guts to stand up for themselves. The next day, David went to Ephraim's office and seeing him work made David's respect for him grow even more. Ephraim was talking to someone acting like an army officer.

[00:01:49]This act was actually so that he could find out which contracts [music] the people in his competition were chasing because Ephraim does not just sell guns on the internet. He also sells them to the USA [music] government. Efraim told David that the real money is in selling to the government. [music] And because David is his friend, Efraim started showing him everything about how all this works. On the government website, Efraim explained that he does not get into these massive deals because these contracts go only to big companies. He goes after the small fish and here even the small deals are worth millions and the profit is also very high in this.

[00:02:26]Then, after having lunch with Efraim, David returned home and right then he found out that his wife Is is pregnant.

[00:02:33]Hearing this news, he got kind of panicked and started [music] thinking about how he would handle the expenses of the coming child. After this, when David met his friend Efraim again, Efraim openly asked him to work with him. David first started thinking that he should stay away from this business as he did not want anyone to lose their life because of him. But Efraim trapped him in his sweet talk, convinced him, and somehow made him believe that doing this work does not promote any war. And David agreed to his words. Then going home, David lied to Is that they were going to sell bed sheets to the army.

[00:03:08]So, Is became completely happy with David's new work. For the next 6 weeks, David started learning everything about the weapons business. David also found good deals on the government website that were ignored by others. And he started talking to the people who make weapons in Eastern Europe. These kinds of people are called war dogs who make money through war without ever stepping onto any battlefield. Efraim has a hidden partner, too, Ralph Slutsky, who is the owner of 14 laundry shops in Miami and also a local businessman.

[00:03:39]Ralph's job is to give money to Efraim for the weapons. And in return, he has a 25% share in the company. But the 25% that Ralph gets is actually not that much because they make way more money than that. Also, Ralph is a devout Jew and he thought Ephraim was just like him who would never sell guns to the enemies of Israel. But, Ephraim sold to every single person who wanted a gun as he did not care who was on whose side. Then one night in a bar after drinking a bit too much, Ephraim hit on the wrong girl and the girl's boyfriend gave Ephraim a solid punch. Then both were eating food in a restaurant and right then they got a phone call that they had secured the Beretta pistols contract in which they would have to supply several thousand Beretta pistols [music] to the Iraqi police in Baghdad. After a few days passed, David and Iz went to the doctor >> [music] >> and started looking at their baby through ultrasound for the first time.

[00:04:35]Soon they found out that Iz is carrying a baby girl, but David's moment of happiness broke in the middle when David got a phone call from Captain Philip Santos who was extremely worried about a new law. Regarding this new law, a ban was placed on all weapon supply going from Italy to Iraq. And now it had become sort of impossible for the Beretta pistols to reach Iraq. David did not know properly about this new law, but this work is necessary for him. So, he lied and told Santos that everything is under control and not to worry.

[00:05:06]Luckily, Ephraim found a way to deal with this problem and said that [music] they will first send the pistols from Italy to Jordan because that is a country with which they have no conflict. So, it will be easier to send the pistols from Jordan to Iraq. That very night, David and Iz hosted a dinner party at their house where some of Iz's friends started explaining to David about Ephraim. They told him that the money was not stolen by the uncle, but Ephraim had stolen it from the uncle.

[00:05:33]Their conversation was just going on when Ephraim reached there without telling. As soon as he saw that a party is going on here, he felt very bad because he was not invited to the party.

[00:05:43]Then David took him aside and started talking explaining that this is Iz's party with her friends, and he did not invite anyone. Then Ephraim told him that a very big problem has happened as the Customs Department of Jordan has seized their [music] guns. On the other hand, Captain Santos had also found out about this thing, and he started calling them to demand answers on this incident, while also threatening that if the delivery is not made, he will get them banned by the government, making them blacklisted so they will never get work again. Now, a sword was hanging over both of their heads, so they would have to find a solution as soon as possible.

[00:06:20]Izza overheard this conversation of theirs, and she got panicked when she finally found out that her husband is a weapons dealer. In anger, she told David that she does not trust him, and that he lied to her. But unfortunately, David did not have time to explain anything more to Izza because he and Ephraim would have to leave for Jordan immediately. But upon reaching there, they did not get any help from the embassy because the plane that had the weapons is expired according to official rules. That is why, after getting their goods released by giving bribes to the locals, they made a deal with a driver named Marboro, whom people consider the best smuggler in the country. Now, Marboro will have to take them to Iraq so that they can go and make the delivery of the guns themselves. But David started getting worried about the safety of this journey. However, Ephraim explained to him that this [clears throat] work will finish quickly, and they will reach there by morning. And honestly, there is nothing to worry about at all. In the middle of the night, they reached the Iraqi border where some soldiers stopped them. But Marboro very easily handed them cigarettes as a bribe and said that there is some necessary stuff in the truck, that he is a small delivery guy, and to please let them go. As soon as the truck left from there, David and Ephraim slept peacefully. And when their eyes opened in the morning, they saw that the truck is stopped in front of a deserted gas station. While Marboro was filling diesel in the truck, Ephraim went to relieve himself. Right then, David got a call from Iz, and she started telling him that she understands how worried he is about their family, and that is why he started this risky work, saying they can earn a little less money, that he should not worry so much, and never to lie to her again after today. David agreed to her words, and at the same time, he told another new lie that he is currently in a hotel. Then suddenly he had to cut the call because he saw a group of armed insurgents coming toward them. So David told Ephraim to get into the truck quickly, started the truck fast, but due to low diesel, the truck will not be able to go very far. They did not even have time to wait for Marlborough, so they told him to come quickly by running. Somehow Marlborough also got into the truck, [music] and he filled the gas into the truck again. Then one night David found out that the army has posted a new deal, which later became famous by the name of the Afghan deal. A very big order that included crazy figures like 100 million AK-47 bullets, 2 million guns, and so on. This deal could be a tremendous opportunity for them, so they decided to go to Nevada where a kind of weapons expo takes place and people come to show their weapons made with new methods. But unfortunately, their plan failed. They calculated that no matter how big a deal they want to make, they still will not be able to handle such a quantity because their company is small, questioning how they would manage to contract with so many different weapons makers around the world. Later, when David was trying to forget the sorrow of his loss by playing cards in a casino, Henry Girard came up to him, whom people consider the king of the weapons business. Then David went to get Ephraim, and both met Henry for dinner at a restaurant to have a conversation regarding this excellent deal. Henry said that he can fulfill this order because he has some special links in Albania, a country that kept preparing to attack Western countries for years but could never actually do it. That is why they now have millions of such weapons that were never even used, and so they want to get rid of those weapons by selling them. Henry said that he can get those weapons at a cheap price because otherwise, if these are not sold, they will go to scrap. The completion of this deal will be like a dream come true. So Ephraim thought about why Henry is not coming forward for this deal himself. Then Henry revealed that the US government has placed many sanctions on him as the government thinks he is involved with terrorists. This thing scared David a bit because he does not want to work with such a person, but Ephraim, who could only see money, started explaining to David that people can get wrong suspicions and it is not necessary that he is involved with terrorists. Falling for his words, David finally said yes to the deal, too. Then a few days later, both flew to Albania so that they could inspect the weapons properly. There, a man named Bashkim was given to them as a driver. When they reached the warehouse, they started testing the capability of the bullets. Despite being so old, the bullets were showing their effect well, [music] so both flew back to Miami and placed a bid on the website to buy the bullets. It took 5 months for the response to come, but luckily, they got the deal. [music] That is why David and Ephraim started getting all the paperwork and accounting of the company up to today, which they had never done, prepared in a fake way. 2 weeks later, they went to Rock Island to meet those US military officers under whose supervision the purchase of all army goods takes place. But both were so nervous that before entering the building, they smoked weed just to keep themselves calm. But the meeting went great and their prepared fake papers also got a green signal. But Ephraim still got filled with anger because he found out that they were chosen for this deal because they put a very low price compared to others, meaning they could have asked for $50 million more. When David returned home and told Iz that he is going to Albania for a month, Iz gave a better response than his expectation because she herself was going to her mother's house with their daughter.

[00:13:08]David asked why she is going to her mother, at which Iz showed David his pictures from Iraq. Iz was extremely angry because David had lied to her. In an attempt to calm her down, David started swearing that this is the last time and he will never lie after this.

[00:13:24]But at this, Iz told him that she has found out about one more thing as she found some bundles of cash that he had hidden under the sink without telling her. Now the water had gone over Iz's head and according to her, David had crossed all limits of lying. So now Iz left from there taking their daughter.

[00:13:40]Before going to Albania, Ephraim thanked David for sacrificing so much for the company and in return gave him a gold grenade bomb. Then David showed him the partnership agreement which David had written himself so that both could sign it and everything remains in the hands of both. After being signed, David put the agreement inside the table. However, Ephraim did not look very happy. Upon reaching Albania, David met Bashkim again as their driver. He kept trying to call Iz repeatedly but Iz was not answering his phone. When preparations were being made to load the goods into the truck and take them, right at that time David found out that a fraud has happened with them as all these bullets are actually Chinese and the US government has placed a ban on these bullets. After telling Ephraim about this issue, both called Henry directly but Henry started saying that now this is your headache that they should have checked all the bullets before buying.

[00:14:36]Now David was badly trapped in Albania.

[00:14:39]Now he started trying to find different dealers in Eastern Europe. A few days later Ephraim reached their hotel and started saying that he has an idea that they will repack the bullets but inside some other box so the US government will never find out which country these bullets belong to and by using boxes made of cardboard, they can save a lot of money. This will be illegal but there is so much money in this deal that they cannot leave it. After this, Bashkim introduced them to a friend of his named Enver who is also the owner of a packaging company. They did not tell Enver about the Chinese problem. They only said that they want to reduce the weight of their goods. Enver demanded $100,000 for this work which was a very small amount in front of saving the deal and earning extra money. Then on December 8th, 2007, they delivered the first 5 million bullets to the army in Afghanistan >> [music] >> without any trouble. A few days later on Christmas day, Efraim let David see his baby girl on a video call, but this became the last good thing to happen with him because now a tremendous [music] twist was about to come into their life. That very night, Efraim called the US officials and told them that Henry has sold the bullets forward at four times higher price and now he wants to exclude him from this deal because his intention was to cheat them.

[00:15:58]David immediately started trying to stop him because Henry is not a man to mess with. David thought that anyway they are making a lot of money, so Efraim is putting the entire operation in danger.

[00:16:09]David said that he is working hard here in Albania staying away from his whole family while Efraim is enjoying comfort in the USA, adding that sometimes he feels they are not partners at all, that Efraim is the boss and he is his servant. Hearing this, Efraim started saying that he understands his point and promises he will not do anything. Right then, he stole that signed agreement from David's table. Also, he did not keep the promise made to David because a few days later, as the new year 2008 started, David was kidnapped from his room and taken to a deserted place where two thugs started beating him brutally.

[00:16:45]Then Henry threatened him by showing a gun and said that both of you want to exclude me from my own deal. Then a scared David decided that he will go back to Miami. Therefore, he went to the warehouse to get his belongings. There Enver told him that he has not received the payment yet and he also knows the real reason why they want to get the bullets repacked. Enver was very angry because Efraim was not picking up a single call of his, but David promised that to let him go to the US and that he will send his money as soon as he goes there, coming back within a week to get the remaining work done. But as soon as David started sitting in the taxi, Bashkim's wife stopped him and told him that her husband has disappeared and no one has heard anything about Bashkim and his body has not been found till date either. Seeing all this, David decided that he just wants to get out of here once and is never coming back. Upon reaching Miami, he first met Iz and confessed before her every illegal work done for the company. And when David said that he will leave the weapons work and become a massage guy again, Iz accepted him. After this, David went to meet Ephraim to tell him that he has decided to leave this work. Ephraim felt as if David is betraying him and he refused to give the money. Then David threatened him that if he did not get the money in two weeks, he will send the lawyer to him. But Ephraim did not care about this thing at all because he had burned the only copy of the signed agreement. When David found out about this thing, he threw the gold bomb given by Ephraim onto the glass between his and Ephraim's office, which caused a lot of commotion. And then David left from there. Three months later, David returned to his massage therapist life again. One afternoon, Ralph came to him, who told him that he feels extremely sorry for whatever happened to Ephraim and he wants to meet you to make [music] peace. After this, all three met in a restaurant. There Ephraim apologized and said that he will give him 20 million.

[00:18:41]Hearing this, it felt like a joke to David. He felt it as his insult. He got very angry and now he started telling Ralph about all those illegal works that they had done with the money given by him and how they used [music] to give him much less money than whatever they earned. David said that he has all the evidence in his laptop. So if he wants, he can easily bring Ephraim to the street. But Ephraim still did not care much because if his name came forward, David's name would also come since his [clears throat] name is also on all the papers of the company, and then this meeting ended without any agreement. A little while later, David got a call from the New York Times as they wanted to do an interview with him about the Chinese bullets that were repacked. But, David said that he knows nothing about this and hung up the phone. But, now David started getting worried because this meant that the information has come out and now he too will get into trouble. After promising Is that he will call the lawyer, David met Ephraim in the elevator because he had also received the call. Ephraim now again became that same old friend from school trying to make David emotional. But, David did not trust him and gave him a powerful punch because David understood that they were never true friends and he was always just a means for Ephraim to make money. Then, as soon as the elevator reached down, at that very time FBI officers surrounded both of them.

[00:20:04]Immediately, both were arrested. Despite so many illegal works and lies spoken to the government, the mistake that trapped them was the mistake of not paying money to Enver.

[00:20:14]Due to not receiving the money, Enver had called the defense headquarters of America and made a complaint against them. At that very time, the FBI started a full investigation. And during that time, Ralph was also [music] caught in one of his many shops. He got so scared that without any hesitation, he made a deal with the FBI. The restaurant meeting was his plan only and he was wearing a microphone to record the entire conversation.

[00:20:39]>> [music] >> In that recording, all their crimes were confessed. A case for committing more than 70 illegal crimes was run against Ephraim. Inside the recording, it was being revealed that Ephraim is the real mastermind, so he [music] was sentenced to four years. While David had confessed all his crimes, that is why he was kept on house arrest for seven months. They were told that their company cannot take any contract until 2022. After keeping himself locked for seven months, David started the massage therapist [music] work again and he was shocked when his next client turned out to be Henry. He was a bit scared, but Henry assured him that he will not do anything to him because if he really wanted to kill him, he would have killed him before. Henry apologized for whatever happened in Albania saying that he had received wrong information and expressed gratitude for the fact that David did not give his name during the FBI interrogation. David also had some questions for Henry asking whether their meeting at the casino table was just a coincidence and what happened with [music] Bashkim. But instead of giving an answer, Henry told him to take a suitcase filled with money but on only one condition, that you will not ask any question again. And with that, our movie ends.
