Last week of April seeing steady warm up in IdahoAdded:
Isaiah Sharp with the Idaho News 6 forecast.
A beautiful way to close out the month of April. Current temperature sitting into those 60s and even warmer temperatures are on the way, but the remnants of all those showers that we saw still hanging on. You can see a little bit of snow up into those foothills right there after we saw a very impressive April, a historic April after we saw historic winter temperatures. This was the wettest April ever recorded. Now, that record goes back to about 1878 is when that recording started. So, in about 149 years we are seeing some of the most rainfall ever in the month of April, triple the average. 3.87 value inches fell and 1.23 the normal that we see.
Back to the question, are we going to get any more April showers? Well, some scattered showers surrounding us, but not really impacting the Boise or Twin Falls region. We're seeing a couple of stray storms maybe making their way in, but I'm not expecting too much activity over the top of the valley floors.
Mountain ranges will certainly see a bit of activity, but the main focus is going to be the warm up in temperature. So, you see this arch that's happening on your screen right here, indication of a high pressure ridge just a little bit, and we're going to see some nice temperatures heading into the month of May. This Friday we'll be switching over months. We might see a slight cool down very soon after that. You see this dark blue that's on your screen, a low pressure system right be might be bringing in some cooler temperatures, but hanging right off of the coastline.
You see the yellow that's right over here? That most likely will be making its way in and is probably what's causing this. This is our 6 to 10-day outlook and warmer than normal conditions taking over the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver and Seattle seeing some of the warmer conditions May 4th through the 8th, but Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, Southern Idaho is going to be sitting in that warmer band when it comes to temperatures heading into the next month. When it comes to precipitation outlook, that's kind of story of two tales. Take a look. We've got slightly wetter than normal conditions making its way fairly into the Owyhees, might impact Twin Falls.
We're sitting right in this average line right here, and then drier than normal conditions taking over the northern United States. So, it's almost going to be a battle. I'm wondering heading into this month which is going to be taking over. If wetter than normal conditions are going to move up or drier than normal conditions going to move down.
When it comes to the rest of this week, drier than normal conditions they are taking over. Scattered clouds, scattered showers, but as you can see no percentages next to any of our cities as I'm not expecting too many showers to pop on up. The warmest over in Emmett, but we're getting pretty close to the 70° in Boise, Meridian. Honestly, everywhere is in those higher 60s, so there's a very good chance these all could be into the 70s depending on the forecast for tomorrow. It is definitely going to be into the 70s Thursday and Friday, and we're going to surpass that going into Saturday and Sunday. 80s returning to Idaho over the weekend and nice and clear skies across the board.
We've got those scattered showers just surrounding the Treasure Valley region, but none really impacting the main core.
I am expecting temperatures to take that climb though going from 60s to 70s into the 80s we soar by our weekend, and it looks like we're sticking that way for the month of May. So, get ready.
T-shirts and shorts are going to be needed for this forecast as warmer temperatures move in.
