No matter where I ran or what I tried, I never survived past 12:47 p.m. Eventually, I stopped trying to escape. Instead, I spent my final hours with my son, pretending life was normal. We played games at the arcade, laughed together, and for once, I forgot I was doomed. But when I checked the time, it was already 12:50, 3 minutes longer than ever before. That's when I realized someone had to be tracking me.
