This analysis expertly deconstructs the harmonic machinery of 80s rock, proving that universal emotional resonance is often the product of a highly predictable structural formula. It’s a sharp look at how a simple four-chord loop became the definitive language of an entire era’s nostalgia.

Missioned Souls Revive Classic 80s Hair Metal?! | I Still Think About You ReactionAjouté :
Hey everyone, I'm Mike and thanks for checking out the channel. Today is Monday, so it is Mission Souls Monday and this one's really kind of cool to me. I was so excited about this one and filming this one and it was hard for me to wait on this one cuz I seen a friend post it. But, you know, me personally, I'm a child of the 80s. And, uh, this song was really a song that came out right after the 80s, about 91, but from a band that I was a fan of on an album that didn't do that well, but it was a hidden track to me that I always thought was a great track. So, we'll play my intro. I'm going to talk a little bit more about it, and then we're going to check out the song. So, let's do my intro.
Here comes Mike. It's time for the show.
He's always here wheal rehab.
>> All right. Usually I come back with the reaction, but I wanted to talk a little bit about this one beforehand. And Mission Souls did a cover of a song from a band called Danger Danger. The song's called I Still Think About You. I'm, as I said, I'm a child of the 80s. I was a fan of Danger Danger. They came out with their first album that had uh had a song called uh Bang Bang, which was really popular. Then they had One Step from Paradise that was like a really cool ballad that was really popular. And then in ' 91, as music started changing and it started leaning more towards Nirvana and grunge, Danger Danger released an album called Screw It. And the album cover was like of like a monkey holding this woman and like she's in a bikini and kind of at the time where you know Nirvana and Pearl Jam and more like kind of like an emo rock kind of moody thing was coming out it didn't fall into that category. you know, people were talking about this album and saying, you know, seemed kind of misogynist and had this whole type of feel and there's songs on there like one titled like Slipper the Big One and was like it it kind of felt out of touch to some people, but there was a great great great song on that album called I Still Think About You.
And the fact that Mission Souls found this song like shows their deep dive into all music cuz I thought this was a beautiful ballad and I'm really excited to hear the way that they covered this song. It was actually a really good album I thought from that point but just wrong time. You know, there was a different change in music at that point from 80s hair style rock music to more grunge and stuff like that. And that's one of the things that happened with a favorite album of mine from the band Warren called Doggy Dog that if anyone ever gets a chance, absolutely incredible, heavier album from Warrant just they had fallen out of favor at that point in the '9s. So, uh, everything went from hairspray to flannels and it was a change. So, what we're going to do is check out Mission Souls here with I Still Think About You.
Lying all alone in bed. Crazy thoughts running through my head.
Thinking about you.
Trying hard to let it go. My head says yes, but my heart says no.
I wish I never had to choose.
I've been walking down the same old road.
Trying hard to forget you, but I just can't let you go.
I still think about you.
Do you think about me?
I still think about you.
No matter where you go, just as sure as the cold.
I still think about you.
Do you think about me? Baby, I remember when you and me were best friends.
cross our hearts as war and was forever.
But I guess that loving me was just a temporary thing. And wishing God that we were still together.
I hope you found what you were looking for.
Do you think about me?
I still think about you.
You do you think about me when you're all when you need a friend?
I guess it doesn't matter again.
Lying all alone in bed.
Crazy thoughts running through my head.
Thinking about you.
I still think about you.
Do you think about me? I still think about you.
Heat.
Heat.
Do you think about me? I still think about you.
No matter where you go, just as a cold, I still think about you.
Do you think about me?
I had to I had to let that play all the way through because a couple people have commented were like they they kind of do funny stuff at the end and you cut it off right before the end. And as I said now kind of I've been going more with playing the whole song and then giving my opinion after. But I want to go back to something in that song. It's a part that she really nailed. If you know the original song, there's a part that he does after the first chorus and Stacy did such a good job with it. I always love this part in the song. That's why I was checking what the time stamp was, but here it is.
>> Right here.
>> Here's the part. I love how she hit this note exactly right.
All right. So, that was absolutely incredible. I love that song. I've always loved that song. I thought it was a really underrated at the time of like all the ballads that had come out. And while I was smiling at a point as a guitar player and being from the 80s, that chord progression that she's using of G D C E minor in some form was like the formula for the 80s like 80s ballads. Tesla's love song is G D E minor C and then like uh Skid Rose I remember you is G D E minor C. It all kind of fell around those four chords in whatever progression you were playing them. Uh the poison song uh is GNC the one I I can't believe I can't remember the name of the song since it was like their most popular ballad song, but that was just uh that was GNC. Everything fell on those chords that were right there. So absolutely incredible. I love what they did with this song. It was fantastic. Such a great band. Danger, Danger. If you get a chance, check out some of their stuff. Really, really cool band in the 80s that didn't get the notoriety of a Poison Warren, uh, DACA and all them. Didn't like Skidro. Didn't get that kind of notoriety, but uh, definitely did an amazing job with this.
Love the song. I played all the way through the ending for everyone. And, uh, as I always say, music makes life better. Love these Mondays with Mission Souls. I'm gonna start having like I had a little break with this point where I had a lot of vacation stuff and some family stuff with my dad and like health issues where I wasn't able to do as many videos, but there's going to be a lot more videos starting to come out during the week and different things from reaction videos to I got a whole ton of brand new guitars and built new guitars and stuff like that that I'm going to be reviewing on the channel. So, thank you everyone for checking this out. Music makes life better. climbing up, reach down, pull somebody up with you because the world needs a whole lot more people being lifted up, a whole lot less people being torn down. And all of you have an amazing, amazing, amazing night. Bye.
