Exploring Norman’s Inlet for Future Estuary Research

[00:00:03]So we're at Norman's Inlet. It's quite a nice channel. It's various you can see there's lots of vegetation around.

[00:00:09]We checked the salinity level.

[00:00:11]It's quite fresh. 4.72 salinity. Saw some fish jumping around so that was always a good sign that we might be able to catch a few different things in there.

[00:00:22]So the point of this [music] trip is come down as a wreck you can try and find if you've got access to these estuaries specifically for the boat. So the important thing about doing this is to one refine our methodologies and see if we can actually be able to go into systems like this. The boat ramp is quite interesting. It's I wouldn't say the greatest boat ramp but we're going to this is the only access we've got for Norman's Inlet.

[00:00:49]So we're going to potentially launch our boat through this little area here. So it's going to be a fun exercise.

[00:00:56]But what we found so far is that as walking out that it's really shallow.

[00:01:01]Possibly knee deep for about I don't know three quarters of the way across the inlet.

[00:01:06]Um that's going to that's going to mean boat access could be very difficult especially in summer when the water drops.
