In Bhagavad Gita Chapter 9, Verse 22, Lord Krishna promises that those who worship Him with unwavering devotion will receive 'Yogakshema' - meaning He will provide what they need (Yoga) and protect what they already have (Kshema). This divine promise transforms all actions, whether secular duties or spiritual practices, into offerings to the Divine, freeing the mind from anxiety and bringing lasting inner peace. The speaker illustrates this through personal experiences, including a story about a 12th-century commentator who accidentally scratched out this verse while writing commentary, and his own experience where a child named Gopal brought him chocolate that miraculously cured his hay fever, demonstrating divine provision working through unexpected channels.

Talk 16 | Krishna's Boldest Promise | Gita Panchamrit | Swami Swaroopananda
Added:[music] There is only one giver of life and the one who keeps nourishing our life, keeps on giving.
May I never forget that. So whether your secular activities or duties or whether your spiritual practices, religious practices, they must be for Bhagwan. So what you need in life, Bhagwan says I will bring it to you.
Oh.
[singing] Oh.
Gur Brahma, Gur Vishnu, Guro Mahara, Gurma That's my gura.
Oh shanty shanty shanty.
Krishna Krishnam.
One of the beautiful messages of Guru Nanak Sab is he says He says the mind will be filled with such precious jewels that is the real wealth they call as shati in vidanta by which the whole world's wealth is at your feet.
He says If I were to listen to just one instruction of the guru, you know nowadays parents tell their children know what is your takeaway take away from the whole camp. You heard a camp there was so many good things. They ask you no when somebody asks you a went to the camp. Okay. What what did what did [clears throat] what did what did you learn? No. No. Very very nice things. What? Very nice things. No. What do you learn? Plenty of things. But what plenty of the things?
What is that one thing that you must keep dear to your heart?
that even if I were to listen, obey, live one teaching of my guru.
And here Gurun Nanak says may I never forget this teaching that there is only one giver of life and the one who keeps nourishing our life keeps on giving.
May I never forget that.
Then all my actions will be dedicated to him. In all my giving, I will never be in shortage of or poor in giving. And in my giving I will never become proud because so dasiat and that also know that whom you're giving is also me by which you give is also me.
No other person than everyone's mother is a tapasi.
What austerities they have to go through every day of their life. And austerity is not just pain.
Tapus. The word tapa means to burn.
Tapa also means to shine. And that which burns shines.
Tapa.
If you take the opposite of tapa is they said atman from your fallen condition that by which you raise yourself tapa.
So all those willful self mastery of your senses even denial of your senses to raise say the bar of your life raise your thoughts to the higher to achieve achieve greater things in life whether it is material or spiritual. Those who are not ready to sweat it out in the fire of tapa, they're not great achievers or they cannot be great achievers.
And tapa you do as I told you yesterday also know you want to go sightseeing also tapa only.
Have you seen people especially from Andra so hot there but they love spicy food you eat it and [clears throat] until unless you feel you don't enjoy taper and if you're not ready to do tapa how can you progress in anything in your life what about brahma vidya that doesn't mean you have to unnecessary torture yourself that is not tapa in fact in bhagat gita To perform your duty uncompromisingly is satic taper.
Giving in charity thinking that I have been given in abundance by the lord and I offer it to the lord only.
That is called as satic charity.
Tamasik tapas torturing your body.
Rajasik tamas torturing your body for pleasures or even to get name and fame. Have you gone to some of these places where this jatari is putting his hand up for 20 years so that you put coins there.
These are not considered as tapas means they tapas you have to austerity marriage itself is a tapas.
So austerities you conserve your energy but the most important thing is not that you just fast that fast is a mere farce.
But you fast so that the agitation of your minds are calmed and you can use it for worship, higher meditation etc. Otherwise it is dieting but even to keep good health you have to do tapas.
Tapas only know pizza in front of you, tapas, but giving up those you know dry gulab jamus.
Tapus that is not tapas.
Do your austerities for me.
The highest tapas being able to withdraw your mind from all sense preoccupation and with singlepointedness raishna Krishna Krishna Krishna and that everybody has got money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money money and what will they not do for money?
They'll give up their family also for money.
They will go far and wide for money. You will send your children spending money far away to learn money. No, like those old parents I was talking to you about.
Then for money when they take you out of the house, congratulate yourself because they have done exactly what you wanted them to do.
Whatever tapas you do, austerities you do that five things Krishna has mentioned here.
Later on in the Bhagat Gita he says that every other activity can be given up when you have got no desire.
But the wise also should not give up yagya tana tapa.
I explained about this also earlier.
They should not be given up. So whether your secular activities or duties or whether your spiritual practices, religious practices, they must be for Bhagwan only dedicated to Bhagwan Madar do it for my sake. Now the question comes okay so before night I have to answer it question comes oh sure but if I do everything even my duties I do for bhagan only that doesn't mean that duty for bhagan is only you go and sit in the temple and sweep the temple that whatever that's why he said yatkar roshi whatever is your daily duties you know but do it for my sake thinking half beard now.
Yeah. But if I do everything for your sake, who's going to look after me? Who's going to look after my family? No.
So now comes the fourth verse which is literally you know in a you can say it is there in the very heart of the Bhagat Gita. Now people calculate exact and mind you heart is not middle your heart is also a little bit you know slip disc kind of it's to the left side isn't it there some people's heart is also sometimes to the right side but it it is in the center chapter in the center of that chapter not literally center center is this verse and if If you remember this verse, there's never a time you have to worry.
Now people say, "Oh, when you bring God into the picture, it becomes religious."
So far, you know, it was so practical.
You know, you mean say God is not practical.
that day also I gave one you know podcast for LinkedIn and um no it was uh you know to someone who's a corporate mentor and was asking me and saying you know speak on gap and cham saying but when it comes to this portion swami g you know let's not get religious oh if if religion helps you why not religion helps the society why not what you make out of the religion is something that is not even religion.
No.
And just because the word God comes in, it becomes religion. Is it? Therefore, now people want religion without God.
So we are not religious. We are spiritual.
Spiritual that is spiritual for them go to do yoga not yoga yoga to become slim.
Go take those diabetic medicines.
Now the yoga is not working.
So take those diabetic medicines. That's the latest. No, not recommending. Please even in the corporate magazines I have read especially when the 2008 crisis happened where the whole banking system collapsed.
where the world was going through a bigger crisis than now which was not just price hike of fuels it's completely collapse of the banking and monetary system yet India just continued unaware You do your best.
Are you going to stand with a gun there and say country may have to do it? You go and said my my ship.
It's clearly written in the books and magazines of these companies that during crisis it is only people with something higher to hold on to with faith in something higher. They would not me mention God or any such thing but in some higher goal, ideal, principle, higher wisdom, higher grace, blessings that are able to go through the crisis without collapsing.
There might be delays but never darkness.
So this one beautiful words of the Bhagat Gita and these are not just if you want to go into the explanations of it.
Bhagan says Oh, Bhagwan says, One who continuously consistently thinks about me at all places turns his or her mind to me only who passes Such steadfast selfmastered people.
I bring to them yoga and shame.
These are two technical words.
Yoga unite them with what they don't have or what they need and shame protect and save what they need to have in the highest context.
I they don't have to worry. I look after their yoga, the union with the highest peace, bliss.
And I only see that they no longer fall down from that heights of bliss, meditative voice, the highest sense.
Yogak sha also is a technical word that what you need to acquire and what you need to preserve.
So what you need in life bhagan says I will bring it to you.
Wahamya in the 12th century there was a commentator on the Mahabharat.
Mahabharat has got a 100,000 verses in which Bhagat Gita is about 700 verses embedded in the Mahabharat.
So he was commenting on the Mahabharat and when he came to the portion of the Bhagwat Gita those days as you know they would have their feather [clears throat] sharp feather and you know dip it in some dye right on palm leaves or you know barks of trees etc. So when he wrote down the original verse and was to write the commentary somehow you know and in poetry a certain license is there that sometimes you don't get the right word so you take the closest word but that's not the case in scriptures which have to be very precise like you write poetry you will add some word you'll even distort certain words but not in a scripture a book of knowledge but when he came to this portion sometimes the commentator sometimes even the disciple thinks he knows better than the guru happens so he said that maybe viasa is he's reporting Krishna's words to Arjuna but he is writing in a poetical form.
Why will Bhagan say I carry it for you?
Bhagwan is data. Bhagwan can just bless.
So he cut off this word, scratched it with his red ink and corrected it as damag.
Next day after he's had his early morning bath in the river, when he comes Normally his [clears throat] devoted wife and you're doing such a great work of such concentration he's not even noticed her but that day when she wants to be noticed.
He walked inside. All the signs were to be noticed like he couldn't miss it.
Now if he does not ask what happened, he is in trouble. If he asks what happened, he's in greater trouble.
And if he delays asking then there is Mahim.
So he asked her what happened. Normally she's so quiet he doesn't even notice that she exists.
She was furious. She was angry.
And she says I never knew that I married a brute like you.
common these days maybe but I married a brute like you he said what did I do what did you do and she was not mincing words she called him cruel abuser I don't know what not she called him he said but what did I do that bad that you're calling me such names She said that you are such a brute that you did such a cruel thing on a child and that to also a child who brings us food milk every day.
What did he do wrong that? And even if he did anything wrong, why did you have to injure him so brutally? He said, "What did I do?"
He said, "That child was bleeding, bruised."
He said, "But who is this child? I have not met any child.
This young boy I have not met.
Not even in my dream.
What are you talking about? Who do you think you are sitting and doing all your writing work? No. Wanting to become a big author?
You doing all your writing work?
Who do you think you are you bringing the food?
Have you left any savings for bringing the food? Who do you think is feeding us daily?
He said who? I never thought about it.
Since last few years you have been writing this commentary. Who do you think has been getting us food that you are nicely eating in between your work?
So he said okay please show me the boy when he said he'll she'll come back in the evening to bring the evening provisions there. No refrigerator that time.
So he waited and evening comes this absolutely cute dark complexion boy with curly curly hair in his hands. No. Carrying some vegetables, carrying a pot of milk and sees that there's a big gash on his chest which is still bleeding with [clears throat] still bleeding.
He asked him he said who are you?
He says, "I'm Gopal.
I bring your milk and your food every day."
Is it better? Who did this to you?
He said, "You.
You did it."
He said, "When?"
He said, "Last evening.
late evening last night.
He said last night I was sitting and working on my desk. I didn't see any child. Suddenly he remembered that he had with his red ink scratched up the very heart.
The Gita is the heart of Krishna.
And this verse is the heart of the Gita.
You scratch it out that literally Bhagwan was bringing Bhagwan says I carry it and bring it to you. Now you say these stories do they make of know when some other saint and say they make and all that how can it be possible and all that and no I what I can give you 100 stories from my life and probably each one of you can think also in your life and maybe now you might think and Remember those of you who saw me 2 days before the camp, you know, here with this we thrashing and all that that hay fever that I had, you know, the cold and everything. Now this was my normal feature.
Whenever I went to Singapore, whenever I went to London, my eyes used to water. I had given all my discourses with my eyes watering with hay fever. Brahmacharis of course I had to experience that I used to get these allergies continuously non-stop cold it's flu will go away in few days but this as long as you are in there the best part of my this was that after 10 days I would travel and the allergy would go away but otherwise in Singapore I remember it was continuously there I was giving my discourses and it was one of those days at that And there were no mobile phones in your room etc. So itinaries to go around the world people anytime would call and the call mean the phone would be down. It was a duplex flat.
We used to have at that time you know five five sessions a day because we had that this of guruv it should be three talks two bigshas there were also question answer sessions then these phone calls would comes then of course people want private interview that house I've done so many marriage counseling That day I was so tired, so exhausted and you know when you have a fever your nose blocked your eyes. So I just you know gone into bed just laid down and this lady of the house who loves talking with me and every time with her questions about gurudev about this and that and that that day was so tired all her phone call would have come she was knocking at my door knocking at my door knocking at my door I didn't even reply that day they said if I reply and they said oh so and so has called again I'll have to wear my ka get down so I just didn't want to go that evening I had my biksha with a group of Chinese no people they were attending my morning talks on atma evening talks on the Bhagat Gita afternoon talks or before talks on the Ramayan they were attending all these talks And they were so enthusiastic they said we also want to offer bsha to swami g but for them you know can swami g come to our house but in our house we cook meat we can't call swami g to the house no can we take swami g to a buddhist vegetarian restaurant some Buddhist monks had started at that time vegetarian restaurants to promote vegetarianism No otherwise our vessels otherwise we'll go and buy fresh vessels. They were making such a big thing about it that finally I said don't worry don't go through all the hassles I will go to if it's a pure vegetarian place. Yes I will go there and made by Buddhist monks only. So I will go there.
So they took me there for dinner.
They're also the last can Swami G eat tofu? No. Can Swami G eat pak choy? I said whatever it is as long as it doesn't fly crawl you know that anyway I ate they were seeing all these days and amongst them there was some people who were running meditation courses there were some who were healers also you know because they get into so-called you know new age spirituality so they have that you know some into homeopathy also some into naturopathy so they had all that so of course they were telling swami g you drink this colate this will you know stop your cold and all but the cold was not going then you sit in the car and suddenly they say but Swami G you forgot dessert in that place probably they didn't have dessert you know Chinese food really dessert is not they live very healthy so so if we forgot dessert and you know Indian bsha without sweets And now ridiculous. They make sweets which are not sweet.
So sweets.
So I said to her, it's okay. No, no, no.
Swami G, we must get you dessert. Can we just stop here and get you ice cream?
Can then she'll ask, can brahmachis or swamies eat ice cream? I said they can eat ice cream but if you give me ice cream I'll scream now because of this cold.
Then suddenly she said should we get at least some chocolate?
Then it occurred to me, it had happened that I had hit upon this you know like accidentally that whenever in Hong Kong I used to get this cold and you know especially while giving out prasad and all that there they have all these prasad and whatever the so there was the latest brand of chocolate simple brand of chocolate nothing fancy but it was the latest brand of chocolate that had become very popular so it was not that ordinary chocolates also and I hardly ate chocolates. But during that time, I noticed the number of times I ate that particular chocolate, my hay fever would reduce.
So I had noticed it.
But our habit we never ask anything. If I if I was there in about to say Hong Kong in the house that was lying around, I would have number of times like eaten it so that the cold reduces etc. Here it did not even occur to me to ask someone that you know here this lady is saying can I bring some chocolate for you. So I said yes.
Then she asked any type of chocolate.
That time this dark and light was not there. There was only chocolate. No. So any so I said I do not know whether any other chocolate work. So I told her bring this.
She said any particular type of chocolate sir you're asking. So I said this particular chocolate. Yes.
We all giggling away. Know these ladies.
So brahmacharay be very careful of these. Is he eat this? Would you like to eat this? Should we take you there? And then they will tell you aa ramachari also has got taste.
So they started teasing me you know all the times aa zami really trendy the latest trending chocolate you know so trendy. So I told I told I said listen I'm telling you no that this chocolate stops my cold they said no swami it's okay it's okay no we won't tell anybody you can eat the chocolate no [laughter] I said now what it is but whenever they brought the chocolate I said oh god placebo anything no so I ate two pieces of that chocolate And they have seen me sneezing whole day. Eyes red. By the time we got down from the car, my sneezing stopped.
Everything stopped. I don't recommend it for everybody. So please, it works for me.
My sneezing stopped. My everything stopped.
Even when nothing was working for CO, CO also stopped.
So it stopped.
And they saw and amongst them one was a healer also you know.
So she said this is unbelievable and I know that you know there were certain testings that you do with muscle. I said okay test out.
I knew she used to do those testing and all that. I said test out. And she test out. It really worked.
Now see I was not even thinking I need a chocolate. I didn't even ask for a chocolate. They asked for a chocolate.
They also asked what kind of chocolate.
But even better thing, should I tell you now?
They gave me the box and it was a heart-shaped box.
Now don't try to figure out what chocolates they don't work. Now there are better chocolates, you know. So heart-shaped box it was.
So they gave it to me. I said no cold is gone. I don't need it anymore. She said no no no Swami G take it. You never know. No like Hanumani brought drone parv take.
I also thought there were children in the house. Okay. I'll share with them because I don't carry anything with me.
So I'll take the chocolate for the children. So it was quite late in the evening around 10:30 or so. So rang the bell. The lady of the house opened the door and she has this habit, you know, anything she says it's dramatic. She almost screams.
So you don't know she's screaming at you or she's screaming with joy, whatever it is. But she screams at her husband all the time. And they got a best marriage.
They just celebrated their 60th wedding in Serena.
giving a bit of the dramas because I immediately opened the door no and she takes me as a younger brother. So I said here are the chocolates plus it was heart-shaped. So I said here is the I said I brought it for you.
She almost screamed like I did some where did you get it from?
Where did you get these chocolates from?
Now I said it was given to me I don't have money to buy it in case you're asking you know where did you spend the money and how did you get the money or whatever you know you don't know how these people treat young brahmacharies you know so I said they gave it to me and I brought it for you and the children she said no I'm not and she looks inside she said but I brought you this box of chocolate in the afternoon when I was knocking at your door.
I didn't open the door.
He in the form of she was knocking at my door to give me this box of chocolate when I wanted relief from my cold that afternoon.
I didn't open the door.
But he was knocking at my door, bringing the chocolate to my hand. And if not opening my door, he made the Chinese ladies do it for me.
Om shant shant shant homur hom.
