Orlando PM Weather Forecast: Wind brings low 90-degree temps; incoming storms

[00:00:02]Say hello to the heat. The Storm Team is tracking 5 days straight of temperatures in the 90s. And Fox 35 Storm Team meteorologist Noah Bergen joins us now.

[00:00:15]>> We're actually going to get rain if you can believe it. All right.

[00:00:17]>> Yeah, I know. Like actual rain. Might even first time in like months.

[00:00:20]>> That's good.

[00:00:20]>> You know, it has barely rained here.

[00:00:22]Yeah. But it's going to be a little summer preview over the next couple of days. Beautiful day today though. If you're on the beaches, there's not a cloud in the sky. That's cuz the seab breeze has worked its way inland. Notice the top left, Daytona. It's completely blue. You look in the top right, Orlando. The bottom left Lake Fairview.

[00:00:37]There's a couple of puffy cumulus clouds. So, it just depends on where you are. But if you're stepping out this evening, it's warmer than typical.

[00:00:44]Temperatures staying in the 70s all the way through 11:00. Partly cloudy. Don't expect any showers. Just a little bit of a light northeast breeze this evening.

[00:00:54]All right, so here's the big stories. We are heating up. We're 90 plus through Saturday. Speaking of Saturday, it's going to be quite a windy day with gusts 30 plus miles an hour. And then Saturday night into Sunday, what I can tell you for certain is there will be some rain and storms. What I can't tell you for certain yet because it's just too tricky to know. We're too far away is the specific timing. And will there be any severe storms? If the front comes through that's going to cause this overnight, Saturday night to Sunday, severe chances are going to probably be pretty low because it's coming through at night, sun is down, the air is cooler. If it comes through later midday Sunday, Sunday early afternoon or maybe even Saturday evening, then there might be some severe storms mixed in. But for right now, certain it will rain at some point and there will be a big drop in temperature by Sunday. Still pretty warm out right now though. 84 in Orlando, 83 in Tampa, 89 in Ocala, 80 in Melbourne.

[00:01:45]Locally, we're close to 90. It's almost 90 in Ocala, 89, 83 in Sanford right now, 84 in Orlando. 70s at the beaches.

[00:01:53]The reason why the beaches are cooler, winds are from the northeast. Tomorrow, pretty rapid and abrupt change. We're going to flip the wind direction completely. Today, it's from the northeast. Tomorrow, it's a southwest wind. Everybody gets notably hotter tomorrow. Most of the state is pretty sunny. You notice a couple of these puffy cumulus clouds moving from northeast to southwest. And look where the seab breeze is on the east coast.

[00:02:13]Not a cloud in the sky. These clouds are heading down towards Tampa Bay for the evening. Storm Tracker radar clear tonight. Again, no rain expected. A lot of rain to our north, a lot of severe weather. Light red is tornado watches.

[00:02:26]The light yellow is a severe thunderstorm watch. And there's plenty of them. On the colorized satellite, you can see there are some really big thunderstorms to our north. In part, we're going to get impacted by that later this week. Through the rest of tonight, there will be some pretty significant severe weather, notably around the Dallas area. Some very large hail and tornadoes. Tomorrow, a marginal risk for severe weather in the Florida panhandle back through southern Texas, but not for our area. At least the way it looks right now. All right, so overnight it's very mild, mid to high 60s. There will be some fog late in the overnight. I don't think it's extreme, but there will be some fog. Now tomorrow with that southwest wind, even the beaches get close to 90. 88 tomorrow, Daytona, 90 in Palm Coast, low 90s inland. Notably hotter tomorrow. Now, the next thing to talk about is on Thursday, there will be some thunderstorms in our northeastern quadrants of our area. meaning where I've shaded in yellow here, probably a couple of storms late in the afternoon, in the evening. And given it's going to be a lot hotter and there'll be some wind energy in the atmosphere, a couple of those storms that move from northwest to southeast, one or two of them could be on the severe side Thursday afternoon evening. Places like New Smyrna, Palm Coast, Daytona, Sanford, Ocala, Gainesville, I'll be here watching that for you Thursday afternoon. Beyond that, we're looking at a better chance of rain late Saturday into Sunday. Notice that huge temperature trend. We don't really get a lot of that in May. 93 Saturday to just 78 on Sunday.
