[00:00:02]The Philippine National Police says it is on alert for the possible issuance of future International Criminal Court arrest warrants involving local public officials. In a statement on Monday, May 25, PNP Chief General Jose Melancholic Junior says the PNP remains on alert and fully aligned with law enforcement partners. This comes amid reports that additional arrest warrants from the ICC may be issued soon. Retaliates adds that law enforcement groups have been involved in background discussions on the enforcement of existing and possible ICC warrants against local officials including Senator Bato Dela Rosa. Dela Rosa is wanted by the ICC over alleged involvement in former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs. Last Thursday, the Department of Justice ordered the PNP and the National Bureau of Investigation to implement the ICC warrant against Dela Rosa after the Supreme Court denied his request to block its enforcement. Over the weekend, Palace press officer Claire Castro said Malacañang will enforce future ICC warrants immediately.
