[00:00:39]From 2015 [music] to 2020, Ott secretly pulled classified information from police databases and handed it straight over to Russian intelligence.

[00:00:49]He smuggled out an EU secret [music] security laptop. The same laptop used by European nations for confidential communications.

[00:00:59]And delivered it directly to Russia. And here's the wildest part.

[00:01:04]Senior officials from Austria's Interior Ministry were on a boat trip when their phones accidentally fell into the Danube River.

[00:01:12]Ott grabbed those phones, copied every single piece of data off them, and shipped it straight to Moscow. So, who was pulling his strings?

[00:01:22]Jan Marsalek. The fugitive executive of the collapsed German company Wirecard, believed to be a Russian intelligence asset, who's been hiding out in Moscow since 2020.

[00:01:35]And what did Ott get paid for all of this?

[00:01:39]Over 80,000 euros. Here's the twist, though.

[00:01:43]Egisto Ott claimed he was completely innocent. He insisted he wasn't working for Russia at all, but was actually running a covert operation alongside a Western intelligence agency.

[00:01:56]The court didn't buy it. Austria's Chancellor had called this case a threat to democracy and our national security.

[00:02:05]And today that was proven right, exposing just how deep Russia's spy network has penetrated inside Europe.
