According to Bhagavad Gita, all living entities derive pleasure from only four activities: eating (ahara), sleeping (nidra), defending (baya), and sex life (maitra). However, human beings possess a unique spiritual quality that animals lack—the ability to inquire about life's deeper purpose and establish a relationship with God. The four universal problems that affect every human being are birth, death, old age, and disease. These problems are considered real because they meet three criteria: they are everyone's problem, no one wants them, and no one can avoid them. The root cause of all suffering is birth, which creates the cycle of existence. Human birth is rare and precious because it provides the opportunity for self-realization and permanent relief from these miseries.
