Maintenance ECP May Improve Survival in Bronchiolitis Obliterans Syndrome After Lung Transplant

[00:00:00]most important finding is that when we looked at the uh the subjects who had received the maintenance ECP, those patients, um compared with those who didn't receive maintenance, had um better survival outcomes. And um in lung transplant, um we really don't have a lot of treatments with with proven survival uh benefit for recipients who develop uh chronic lung allograft dysfunction. And in in this case, bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome.

[00:00:36]So, anything that could improve uh long-term survival uh would really uh be a benefit to um lung transplant patients. If a patient is tolerating it without adverse side effects, um you know, I I think that in those situations, at least based on this study, you know, it probably makes sense to continue with the maintenance ECP. I know, you know, our lung transplant patients um can get pretty complicated, have a lot of other factors or other comorbidities. And you know, ultimately, I think these have to be individualized um decisions uh patient-by-patient basis. But, um you know, the results we found here did suggest that continuing maintenance treatment beyond the initial phase is beneficial.
