[00:00:05]For millions of years, sea turtles crossed the oceans of Southeast Asia, returning to the same shores to lay their eggs.

[00:00:19]Between the Philippines and Malaysia lies a critical nesting ground known as the Turtle Islands. Scientists and conservationists realized that [music] protecting the turtles would require cooperation beyond borders. Then, on May 31st, 1996, the Philippines and Malaysia signed a landmark agreement [music] creating the Turtle Islands Heritage Protected Area, or TIHPA.
