Does ABS Increase Braking Distance?

[00:00:06]ABS is a very smart and superior technology.

[00:00:10]When you brake hard with ABS, the brakes works very similar to your normal brakes until the wheel locks, tire starts sliding, or the wheel loses traction instead of gripping. ABS prevents that by rapidly releasing and reapplying the brakes at much faster than a human can manually modulate brakes. Typically 10 to 20 times per second. That means better control, better stability, and usually shorter stopping distance on normal roads. So, if your tires are in good traction, the stopping distance never reduces. But yes, in slippery roads, ABS can sometimes increase the stopping distance slightly. But in real emergency situation, control matters more than just stopping distance.
