Systemic failures in public institutions often stem from leadership and oversight problems rather than structural issues, as demonstrated by the Fulton County Jail case where multiple deaths and injuries occurred due to inadequate supervision, delayed emergency response, and insufficient staffing, highlighting the critical importance of holding leadership accountable for institutional failures.

Another Tragic Fulton County Jail Victim DEMANDS Justice From The Sheriff!Added:
do it. So, now that the sheriff is under fire, we're actually going to hear from people who were directly involved with what's going on with Fulton County and the Fulton County Jail. This woman we'll hear from next actually has a lengthy experience with working in Fulton County. And we're going to hear specifically about a case that took place within the jail. And we're going to talk about what's going on with that situation, how Fulton County has completely mishandled what's going on with the Fulton County Jail. Check this out.
Good morning, Chairman Pittson, fellow commissioners. I am Kurt Beasley, a lieutenant colonel deputy sheriff, retirey, 2017 from the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
I saw that press conference that was led by the attorney who was just here on behalf of Rashad Muhammad. Some words used were very very deep, egregious, horrendous, deplorable, malfcence, deliberate indifference to name a few.
>> When I saw those words, I thought about Lehan Thompson, who was found dead, body emaciated, covered in bed bugs. I thought about Noni Baptiste Conso, an 18-year-old child who drew on a school building, was arrested for a misdemeanor, and dead within 52 days of being in the sheriff's custody. Tyiana led better, beaten almost to death, left on life support.
>> We're going to talk about >> these two ladies were not housed at the Rice Street facility. So, how can someone have the audacity to ask how much more does the sheriff have to do to advocate for a new jail?
>> That building could not have done anything to save the limbs of Mr. Muhammad or the lives of those other three people that I named and many others.
>> Yep.
>> Let's be honest and real about the real truth.
>> It's the overseer. It's the leadership.
Footing County taxpayers, I implore you all to hold those accountable for the continued deaths, assaults, waste of spending of tax dollars, negligence that continue to lead to lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit.
>> The problem is not the structure of the building. The problem is the overseer, the leader, and until we address that, nothing else will change.
>> There it is. Kurt Beasley saying what we've been saying over and over and over and over and over on this channel and what we've heard from multiple people.
Quentyn Coleman, Charles Rambo, we've heard from LA Pink, we've heard from people who are in elected office right now. This is a leadership problem all across the board. Even on the board of commissioners, it's a leadership problem.
And we have to get this right or more money is going to be spent. More lives are going to be lost and impacted. Guys, you never know. You never know. You could be a law-abiding citizen and still be affected by this jail. You pay your taxes, you're being affected by what's going on here. Think about it.
>> Good morning. I'd first like to start by saying thank you to the few commissioners and officials and a jud and judges who are taking the steps to address de theft crimes crimes felony crimes.
We still have a long way to go and here's why. Fulton County is again in national news for a case out of the city of New York where the Carrington family has had property and assets stolen and the judge Kenya Johnson recused herself and now the guardian in Georgia has disappeared.
Secondly, there's another New York deed fraud theft case that involves a grandmother who was jailed and shackled like a slave >> specific to properties or transactions that have happened in the state of Georgia, Fulton County. Thirdly, the company that's linked to a lot of these deed fraud crimes was operating out of Fulton County and the owner of the company was sentenced to four to five years in jail.
>> Wow.
>> Lastly, we have a judicial officer thankfully who has reported these crimes to the DA.
I'm not here just complaining. We have solutions. We have forwarded this information to the attorney general in the state of Georgia.
>> Come on, Chris.
>> Do your job. Return these stolen properties and stop this inhumane treatment. All of these documents are in the custody of Sheay Alexander 15 >> courts.
You have the information. You have all the power to do this work. Get it done.
Thank you.
Yeah, it's been a big disappointment how the attorneys general's off office has handled or not not handled this at all.
Been like, "Oh, we'll let the Department of Justice and the FBI handle it, whatever."
>> Good afternoon. Um, I'd like to address to all the inmates or people that have been wounded into Fton County. I am Tiana Zat Better's mom and for the facts and the matter of the record. Um, I am very displeased with um how she was treated, >> how she was overlooked, >> um, how she was not into >> where she was supposed to be. As far as I'm concerned, um I think Fulton County can do a better job as far as upgrading their security system, upgrading their cameras, getting these people the help that they need as far as when you lock away someone who has a special education. Um when it comes to that and you receive phone calls, um this girl is still fighting for her life. So at the end of the day, it just makes me feel as if what are we doing as parents? What are we doing as the board members? What are we doing? Um, Tiana let Better is also didn't get a chance to graduate yet, but hopefully that will be. But right now, she's laying down looking like who's speaking for her, >> what type of uh system, what happened.
My daughter is totally confused at this moment. And to this day, it has done a lot to my family. Uh mentally, mentally, physically, uh verbally, all of the above is all I can say. And I pray that God have mercy >> upon whom and whoever that knows a lot about it.
>> So, all I'm asking is that you guys could do a lot as far as your jail system, who's the uh the system, the medical system, uh whatever steps that you're taking in the jail. Even though these kids were or it doesn't matter the age, if they're locked up, they should have a better place somewhere safe. As in, if you're going to lock them up, then lock them up the right way.
>> It's no reason for them to have to be treated like animals. There's no reason for them to have to be >> begging or calling their mom or looking around for help and help should be in there as well. So, if they, you know, hold them accountable for what they do, not treat them.
>> And they cut her mic, of course.
All right, so let's actually get into this case because a lot of people are unfamiliar with what happened in the Lead Better case and I want to talk about it here. I want to play a video for you guys as we talk about what's going on and what happened with this Lead Better case and what the sheriff's department is doing or not doing when it comes to getting justice for Taharana Le Better. Check this out.
We have an update on a story we broke last week about a female inmate at the Fulton County Jail being critically injured, allegedly at the hands of another inmate. Now, the Fulton County Sheriff has made changes at the jail as a result of that attack. Tiana Led Better remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Fox 5ique Proctor tells us about those major changes now underway at the Rice Street Jail.
Sheriff Labot put out a memo over the weekend suspending all law enforcement units and redirecting everyone here to the Fulton County Jail.
Sheriff Patrick Labot has suspended all crime fighting units at the sheriff's office. Things like vehicle pursuits and traffic stops are no more. The memo says personnel has been redirected exclusively to work at the Rice Street Jail. operations follows the vicious attack on 20-year-old inmate Teriana Lead Better. Led Better's mother tells Fox 5 her daughter, who suffers from mental illness, is on life support at Grady Memorial Hospital after inmate Shaniah White, whose family says she too suffers from mental illness, allegedly attacked Lead Better. Crazy.
>> The chairman of the largest county in Georgia says 14 days after the violent attack, he and the commissioners still have not been briefed by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
>> Under previous administration, anytime anything would happen at the jail, we would be notified immediately, instantaneously about anything happening at the jail. County attorney has not been briefed. I spoke with Jessica Corbett, our director of external affairs. She has not been briefed.
Another major shakeup. Chief jailer Colonel Jared Gorland moves out of the top spot and has been reassigned to a part-time position of leading the drone first responder.
>> That's a whole another story there.
>> Sharon Pittz believes a full-time certified jail employee should have been in the job to begin with. I just find it strange that uh the chief jailer for a jail as important as a Foley County jail would not have a permanent full-time county employee in that position as opposed to a dollar per year person.
>> The chairman tells us the federal monitor is here this week, so she will be hands-on. As for the sheriff, he declined our interview to talk about these changes.
>> Of course, mismanagement. Guys, let me know what you think in the comments in the chat. We're going to keep talking about it. We're going to keep keep having the right conversations and getting involved the right way.
Obviously, through your vote, through speaking out. There's a lot of change that can be made here, needs to make be made here. And look into what's happening in your own city, your own county, and your own state because this is just the tip of the iceberg. We saw what's happening in Minnesota. We see what's happening here in Fulton County.
Makes you wonder what's going on in a lot of these other places as well. Look into it.
