They Took Students To A DESERTED Island ! | Movie Recap追加:
A group of forensic science students is just days away from graduation when their professor, Tom, announces their final field test. The plan seems straightforward enough. Land on a remote, uninhabited island, split into teams, and spend two and a half days examining staged crime scenes. Pass the test and you're one step closer to landing a dream internship. [music] Fail and your future takes a serious hit. The stakes couldn't feel higher, or so they thought.
When the students arrive on the island, they're greeted by Larry, the bus driver and cook hired specifically for this trip. During the ride to base camp, Larry casually drops a bombshell. Years ago, the military conducted secret human experiments on this very island.
Something went terribly wrong and they abandoned the place without explanation.
Ever since, the island has been looked after by a lone caretaker and strange, unexplainable things have been reported over the years. Enough to earn it the creepy nickname, Rare Island.
The decaying military buildings and faded warning signs scattered along the road seem to back up every word he says.
But the students brush it off as local folklore and ghost stories. Big mistake.
At base camp, Tom divides the six students into three pairs and sends each team to a different location across the island. Group A, Kate and Megan, heads to a river bank to examine a body. Group B, Josh and Patrick, is sent to investigate a corpse inside an old school bus. Group C, Daniel and Rob, must analyze a body hidden in the trunk of a small car. Since the island has no cell signal, each team is given a walkie-talkie to stay in contact. Direct interaction between groups is strictly forbidden. Get caught breaking the rules and you're immediately disqualified.
Tom monitors everything from base camp using a set of surveillance cameras.
Things start going sideways almost immediately. While setting up, Larry accidentally knocks over a metal bucket spilling a mysterious black liquid all over two of the walkie-talkies.
White smoke starts rising from the devices. The liquid is corrosive. Larry panics, puts out the smoke, and sets the damaged radios aside. Fortunately, they still seem to work.
The students [music] grab their gear and head out unaware that their communication lifeline has already been quietly compromised. Back at base camp, Larry checks on the food he's been preparing and notices something deeply unsettling. Two out of three roasted chickens have vanished. No one else is on the island. No [music] visitors, no animals reported. He immediately reports this to Tom reminding him of the island's dark history and the strange rumors that have followed it for years.
Tom dismisses his concerns without a second thought suggesting a wild animal probably took them and tells Larry to stop overthinking and get back to cooking. Feeling ignored, Larry reluctantly carries on and starts delivering lunch to each team. But while making his rounds, Larry desperately needs to use the bathroom and stumbles upon a run-down cabin hidden in the trees. What he finds inside stops him cold. The body of a woman lying dead on the floor. Shaken to his core, he runs to find Megan by the river and tells her what he saw before rushing back to the cabin with Kate right behind him. After a careful examination, Kate confirms without any doubt that this body is not one of the three staged corpses Tom had planted for the test.
>> [music] >> Something is very wrong. Larry grabs his radio to report the discovery to Tom, but the signal is dead. Then, to make everything worse, Larry sees the corpse begin to move on the ground. He urgently warns Kate, but she assumes he's messing around, rolls her eyes, and walks away.
Neither of them realizes that the moment they turn their backs, the body slowly rises to its feet. Larry continues delivering lunches but keeps his eyes wide open now. When he reaches Daniel and Rob, he warns them to stay alert and watch their backs at all times. The two students exchange confused looks as Larry walks away. A short while later, just as Larry is about to deliver the final lunch, he catches a glimpse of a dark figure slipping silently between the trees. The sight fills him with absolute terror. He drops everything, turns, [music] and runs back toward base camp as fast as his legs will carry him.
But in his blind panic, he trips, hits [music] the ground hard, and loses consciousness.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Rob notice their radios are dying. They pause their examination and head back to base camp to grab replacements. On the way, Rob stumbles and falls. And when he looks up, he spots someone in a sports jersey standing nearby in the trees.
Daniel sees nothing and tells Rob to relax, but Rob's gut is screaming at him that something is off.
Back at the dormitory, Kate tells Megan about the body she found in the cabin.
>> [music] >> Since their radios are cutting out and they can't reach Tom, Kate suggests they investigate it themselves. [music] Maybe it's a secret challenge Tom planted to test how they respond under pressure. Megan agrees, but she's still busy at the river, so they decide to split up. Kate takes a camera and heads back to the cabin alone while Megan finishes her work. When Kate returns to the cabin, the body is completely gone.
The realization crashes over her like a wave. Larry wasn't lying. Every alarm in her head goes off and she sprints back toward camp, but she doesn't make it far before she runs straight into the woman zombie wandering through the forest.
Kate bolts in the opposite direction running as fast as she can through the trees until she hits a dead end, a wall of thick thorny bushes that snag her arm and hold her in place. She struggles and pulls, but she can't break free. The zombie closes in with terrifying calm.
It bites off her finger, then sinks its teeth deep into her throat. Her screams echo through the silent forest. Megan grows worried when Kate doesn't come back. She goes looking and finds her best friend barely recognizable, brutally mauled and covered in blood.
>> [music] >> Fighting through the shock, Megan gets Kate inside and does everything she can >> [music] >> to treat the wounds with what little medical equipment they have. But the neck wound is too severe. With no proper medical help available, Kate bleeds out and dies right in front of Megan.
Devastated and terrified, Megan forces herself to move. She locks every door and every window in the building >> [music] >> determined to keep whatever is out there from getting in. What Megan doesn't know is that the real danger is already inside with her. Behind her back, [music] Kate's body begins to twitch. Then it sits up. Then it stands. Kate has become a zombie. Megan spins around just in time to see the thing that used to be her best friend lurching toward her. She grabs a small knife and fights back with everything she has, but her attacks barely slow Kate down. In a moment of desperate thinking, Megan shoves a heavy shelving unit directly onto the zombie pinning it to the floor. She seizes the moment and gets out. Over at the group B site, Josh is collecting samples from beneath the school bus when he notices a pair of human feet walking nearby. He calls out. No answer. He gets up and looks around. Nobody there. His instincts tell him to stop what he's doing and get back to camp. Patrick doesn't need any convincing. He's been uneasy for a while and has no interest in being [music] left alone out here. At base camp, Tom is frantically trying to reach the students on the radios when a shaken Larry stumbles back in barely holding it together. He begs Tom to evacuate the island immediately telling him everything. The zombie woman, the disappearing body, the figure in the trees. He is certain these creatures are connected to whatever the military left behind, but Tom refuses to believe any of it. He accuses Larry of being reckless, blames him for the radio failures and the broken surveillance equipment, and dismisses every word he says. To settle his own doubts, Tom heads outside to check the communication lines himself. Inside, the lights start going haywire flickering wildly and then cutting out. Both men rush outside to investigate. Then something appears on one of the surveillance monitors that makes Tom's stomach drop. A zombie on screen tearing apart the corpse that had been placed in the car trunk for the test. They trace the technical failures back to the corrosive liquid Larry had spilled earlier which had eaten through the underground cables and taken down the whole system. Just then, Daniel and Rob return to camp, quickly grab two replacement radios without stopping, and head back [music] out. Their brief visit helps restore the communication lines, but the relief lasts only seconds. The flickering lights have attracted something. Larry spots it on the monitor. A zombie lurking just outside the camp perimeter. Josh and Patrick arrive back at that exact moment. Larry wastes no time and tells them everything. Josh listens carefully and believes every word. Tom still doesn't.
He hasn't seen anything with his own eyes and he's not ready to accept it.
Out in the field, Daniel and Rob return to their assigned site and discover something horrifying. The corpse they were supposed to be examining has been completely gutted. Its internal organs ripped out and taken. Daniel tells himself this must be another one of Tom's secret tests, a staged emergency designed to push their limits. But Rob has had enough. He remembers the figure in the jersey he saw earlier and his instincts are screaming at him to leave right now. Daniel refuses to go. Rob decides to leave on his own. It's the last decision Rob ever makes. Halfway through the forest, he comes face to face with a zombie. He spins around and runs, but he ends up trapped, a dead end enclosed by an old iron gate. He grabs the bars and yanks desperately, trying to force it open. Then he sees it, another zombie right on the other side of the gate, reaching through. Before he can do anything, more zombies close in from behind. Rob is devoured alive. His screams travel all the way to the nearby camp and hit everyone like a punch to the gut. That's the moment Tom finally stops arguing. He pulls out a pistol, ready to use it, but Larry insists there's no time. They need to leave the island immediately. Tom refuses to run without finding the remaining students still out in the field. While they're arguing, Daniel comes running in, pale-faced and breathing hard. He immediately notices Rob is missing and the looks on everyone's faces confirm his worst fear. When he's told that the dead are walking and Rob was likely attacked, Daniel completely loses it.
His girlfriend Megan is still out there.
He grabs a hammer and charges into the forest before [music] anyone can stop him. Josh and Patrick head out, too, trying to find Rob, not yet knowing he's already been turned and is now shambling toward Megan's dormitory. Things are spiraling fast. The zombie Kate had pinned under the shelf has broken free and now zombie Rob is clawing at the floor of Megan's building, trying to force his way in from below. Megan doesn't [music] panic. She grabs a tool and drives the zombie back into the wall with full force, but the noise Rob is making underneath the floorboards is growing louder. She fights him off, throwing acid, beating him with wooden planks, >> [music] >> but nothing is stopping him. Then she sees the Kate zombie on the wall starting to move again. In a moment of clarity, Megan grabs a sharp piece of wood and drives it directly [music] into the zombie's skull. It finally stops moving. Knowing conventional weapons won't finish Rob off, Megan improvises.
She builds a crude explosive device using chemical agents lying around, climbs up to the roof, and the moment zombie Rob breaks through and steps beneath her, she drops it. The explosion tears him apart. With the immediate threat gone, Daniel finally arrives. The two don't waste a single second. They run. Back at camp, Tom and Larry have barricaded the doors and windows. A zombie appears at the window and Tom shoots it down without hesitation.
Wanting to make sure it's dead, he steps outside and immediately two more zombies lunge at him. He stumbles and drops his gun. Larry drags him back inside and slams the door shut just in time. After a tense few minutes, the zombies outside seem to lose interest and drift away.
Larry uses the downtime wisely, filling bottles with gasoline to make Molotov cocktails. Tom steps outside again, recovers his pistol, [music] and shoots down a zombie that's busy feeding on a piece of meat nearby. Then Larry's luck completely runs out. A zombie bursts up through the floorboards directly beneath him. He grabs a Molotov cocktail and tries to light it, but the lighter fails. The zombie seizes him by the ankle and drags him downward through the floor. His screams reach Tom, who comes running, but Larry is already gone. Not a trace left behind. In the forest, Josh and Patrick are ambushed. They barely escape and take cover inside the bus that originally brought them to the island. The zombies pound on the doors, trying to force their way in. Just as the doors are about to give way, Josh fires up the engine and floors it, tearing the bus free from the mob chasing them. Josh drives until he reaches the group B site near the school bus, and that's where Daniel and Megan are waiting. Tom is already there, too.
He hands them his pistol, [music] tells them to stay inside the bus where it's safe, and goes back out alone to find Josh and Patrick. Moments after Tom leaves, they hear something growling close by. It's Larry, now a zombie, closing in on them. Daniel and Megan decide they need to take it down themselves. They step outside. The zombie Larry charges at them, teeth bared and snarling. Megan fires, but at that exact moment, Daniel lunges forward with his hammer raised. The bullet hits Daniel instead.
>> [music] >> The zombie, confused and stunned, hesitates. Megan fires again, >> [music] >> dropping it for good. Daniel insists he's okay and tells Megan not to blame herself. He knows it was an accident.
Their priority now is getting off this island. As Megan helps Daniel to his feet, Josh appears in the distance, driving the bus toward them. The four regroup and climb in. There's no time for explanations. Megan tells Josh to drive, and he does, but the road ahead isn't clear. A zombie steps directly into their path. Josh slams the accelerator and plows right through it.
Another one appears immediately after.
Josh throws it in reverse and smashes into that one, too. For a second, it looks like they might actually make it.
Then the gearshift locks up and the first zombie Josh hit, still alive, it hurls itself forward and crashes through the windshield, landing right on top of Patrick. Josh manages to restart the bus, but with his view completely blocked, he loses control and the bus slams into a tree on the side of the road. When everyone regains consciousness, they realize the horrifying truth. Patrick didn't make it. He was killed in the crash. Before they can even begin to process it, another zombie crawls toward the bus, going straight for Megan. Daniel raises the gun and fires. The zombie drops.
With no time to grieve, the three survivors climb out of the wrecked bus and continue on foot, pushing toward the dock with one single goal in mind, get off Rare Island. Even a heavy iron gate blocking the road can't stop them. They force their way through, but then a powerful impact knocks the vehicle sideways and Josh can't regain control in time. The bus clips a tree stump and flips onto its side. Miraculously, all three walk away with only minor injuries. With no vehicle left and the dock still ahead, they continue [music] on foot. They eventually reach an abandoned house and stop to rest.
Daniel's injuries have caught up with him and he can't push any further without a break. They stay the night and wait for dawn.
At first light, Tom finally tracks them down, having followed their trail through the wilderness all night.
And then, out of nowhere, a truck appears. It's the island's caretaker, the same man who had originally brought Tom to the island. Unable to reach anyone by radio and sensing that something had gone terribly wrong, he had driven out to check on them. He barely gets a word out before Tom grabs him and shoves him against the truck, demanding to know why he kept the truth about the island hidden from them, a secret that directly led to the deaths of four people. The caretaker, clearly frightened, explains that he was just a low-level worker. He knew the military used to send death row prisoners to the island for some kind of experiment, but he never knew the full details of what happened. And since so much time had passed without incident, he genuinely didn't think it would ever become a problem. He says he never meant for anyone to get hurt. While Tom has him pinned against the truck, a zombie appears from behind. In a cold, calculated act of revenge, Tom shoves the caretaker directly into the zombie's arms and jumps into the truck. He reaches for the ignition. The keys aren't there. He tears through the cab searching for them. Meanwhile, the zombie finishes with the caretaker and begins moving toward Tom. Then Tom sees it. The keys are clenched between the zombie's teeth, and that's exactly where the film leaves us, with Tom trapped, staring down at those keys, and no clear way out.
