Meteorologists analyze atmospheric conditions including temperature, humidity, dew points, and pressure systems to predict weather patterns; in this forecast, meteorologist Summer Trott explains how low pressure systems cause breezy conditions (5-15 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 25 mph), how warm fronts increase clouds and humidity while cold fronts bring clearing skies and reduced humidity, and how precipitation patterns vary across regions with some areas experiencing showers while others remain dry.

Summer's Tuesday Evening Forecast
Added:Starts now with meteorologist Summer Trott.
>> After starting in the low 70s today, temperatures managed to climb into the low to mid-80s. 84° at the airport, so still below the average, but one noticeable difference from today was the humidity. Dew points increased as well as the chance for showers and storms.
Some areas, especially our southern tier, did see some. However, notice that today's rain at the airport was recorded at none. No measurable rainfall there thus far. Here's a look at New Oxford.
Still seeing a bit of a breeze there right now, and that's going to continue throughout the evening. Even into tomorrow looks breezy. Hershey, a lot of clouds around that flag is also blowing there. So, we did see some storms, with the strongest storms being in Adams, York, and Lancaster counties. Lancaster and Lebanon, the tornado watch for those areas has now been canceled. It is continued to our east, so parts of New Jersey saw some strong thunderstorms.
Still seeing that right now, moving into parts of South Jersey, as well as now into Maryland. Seeing some strong storms there. Parts of West Virginia, too, seeing strong thunderstorms, as well as under a severe thunderstorm watch. For our viewing area, things have really not taken off today. Again, we did see some storms, but most of us didn't really see any, and just seeing some steady rain in areas. Others just very, very light rain around. Temperature-wise, seeing 70s, some spots in the low 80s still. 73° in Mifflintown, 75 in Carlisle, but notice back to the west, Altoona, 70°. A bit cooler there right now. We are breezy again. Expect that breeze to continue throughout the evening hours. We're seeing These are sustained winds up to about 13 mph, so I'd say on average, we're about 5 to 15 mph, with gusts a little bit higher than that. And this is all caused by low pressure. So, we had this warm front lift it north. As it did, we saw an increase in clouds, as well as the humidity, and then storms out ahead of this cold front that's still back to our west. Now, that cold front will clear by tomorrow, and then we'll turn breezy, uh staying breezy behind it. Humidity will drop, as well.
So, here's the Precision Cast wind showing that winds stay uh sustained winds about 5 to 15 mph overnight, seem to diminish a little bit, but picking right back up tomorrow morning. By noon tomorrow, sustained winds still up to 15 mph, saying they could gust up to 25 mph at times tomorrow. In terms of the rain, we look mostly dry. Now, northwest PA is seeing some shower and storm activity there. That's going to try to make its way to us. As it does, Precision Cast and other models uh are trending that it sort of breaks apart, perhaps a few showers or storms make its way to us very late tonight, but overall, many of us look dry into the overnight hours.
So, for tomorrow, clearing, breezy, still humid, but the humidity drops by Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in the upper 70s for highs Thursday, so a very rare July day there, but overall, going to see a lot of sunshine and some nice days ahead. Thank you.
>> Thank you, Summer. Coming up next tonight, humanoid robots are heading to school.
