[00:01:16]It's was a hot day out there. You ever have a summer cold? You're going to hear me sniffing a lot. I got [snorts] this cold last well Thursday I got the scratchy throat thing and then Friday it started building in my head and all weekend long I was like a zombie and today it's just it's going away but all this stuff is running out. [snorts] It's a lot of fun let me tell you trying to do four and a half minutes of talking for weather and traffic all together is just tough because by the end of it my throats are like no [clears throat] excuse me. All right, here's a live look around town. You can see it's a very calm night out there. Of course it's dark. Morgan's Wonderland Camp, Pitch Black, Calaveris Lake, same thing. Sky Cam, San Antonio airport. Looking good.

We got plenty of your last name last week though. Man, that flooding was absolutely awful. All right, here's the aquifer. The aquifer is happy about the rainfall. That's for sure. We are now at 651.9.

[00:02:35]Picked up a fifth of a foot in the past 24 hours. So the 10day average is now up to 646.1. It's great to see this number above 650. I don't remember the last time it was above 650. had to be years at least. Uh so we're looking good there. And the monthly average about excuse me about 7 [snorts] and a half feet below average. So we're looking really good on the aqua front and we're hopefully going to keep that going up uh as the rivers continue to drain out much like my sinuses. Good evening to you, David. [00:03:03]Hope you did okay with the flood. All right, let's take a look outside. Sky cam is blurry. Well, all right. We have a blurry sky cam, but the big thing is the numbers anyway. All right, we have 88 degrees outside right now. Factor in the humidity, it feels like 90 outside as of the 9:00 hour. Due points at 66.

[00:03:20]If you're thinking, what's the due point? The due point tells you how much moisture is in the air. The closer that is to the air temperature, the higher the humidity goes. It's not too close.

[00:03:28]So, the humidity at 48%. Usually in when we have a lot of humidity out there in the summertime, the heat index could easily be 5 to 10 degrees higher than the air temperature. So, we're only two degrees higher right now. And we have a little breeze. East Southeast winds are at 9 miles per hour. And hello to you, Lori Lyles. Happy [snorts] Monday to you. Oh, I feel a sneeze coming. Oh, got to squeeze my nose. [snorts] All right, temperatures across South Texas. I'm going to look up there. I can see them better. We've got 88 in San Antonio, 82 for uh Rock Springs. I can't I should have my glasses. 82 in Fredericksburg, 88 Austin, 89 degrees in Floresville, 97 Pure Salt and Cula. That's as of the 9:00 hour. Hot stuff. 90 in Eagle Pass.

[00:04:08]93 in 83 in George West, 86 Kennedy, 85 Alexville, 88 in Gonzalez. Some contacts might come in handy, too. All right, let's take a look at the radar. Nothing to talk about radar wise, at least nothing falling from the sky, but we do have several river flood warnings. We'll focus on the ones to the south. San Antonio River is that one south of Quero and Victoria. That river flood warning um for the San Antonio River that has likely crested already and on the way down. So, that's good news. However, for the Frio River and also the Noasis River near Cula and Tilden, both of those have not crested yet. Expected to crest sometime on Wednesday. So, if you live in those areas, of course, you've probably heard about uh the possibility of more flooding there as the rivers continue to drain from all of that flooding that we had and all the rain from last week uh further up to the north. So, we'll continue to keep our eyes on that. The good news is no more rain being added on top of that.

[00:04:58][snorts] Doing a okay from the flooding, David. Good, good, good. I wish I don't know. Are allergies better or is a cold better? To me, I I guess I'd rather have a cold because it only lasts a few days.

[00:05:07]Allergies, they can go on forever, especially here. [snorts] So, I'll stick with the cold, I guess.

[00:05:12]I've gone through so many boxes of tissues, though. And thankfully, they give us tissues here. I've gone through, I think, at least a box today here alone since I got here, too. And my pleasure.

[00:05:20]Love giving the updates, and I'm glad people like them. All right, let's take a look at the water vapor. Uh, you can see where the moisture is here. That's what we're going to pick out. Well, to start where you have the blues and the greens, that's where we have a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. The greens is the radar that the radar is picking up some rainfall. Where you see the black, that's drier air. And you can see it's moving in from the north and east.

[00:05:39]You see it around Dallas there. San Antonio coming in here. And that dry air is giving us the sunshine. No rainfall.

[00:05:47]However, when your eyes go down to the south and east into the northeastern Gulf, that's the little bugaboo that could give us a little rainfall as we head toward the weekend. Now, the track is a little uncertain. By the way, that is now tropical storm Bertha. was tropical depression number two, but it has now strengthened into tropical storm Bertha. The hurricane center says it is now a tropical storm. Winds have crossed that threshold of 39 miles per hour.

[00:06:10]It's now 40 mph winds as it's slowly moving to the north and west. Here are the particulars. Now, as a kid, I would watch the Weather Channel all the time non-stop when we first got cable. I think it was like 1986, something like that. So, they would always say, "Here are the particulars on the storm."

[00:06:26]Hello, Grace. Uh Bertha, yeah, it is headed our way, at least to Texas. But I'm thinking it's not going to be that big of a deal by the time it gets here.

[00:06:33]All right, 40 mph winds moving to the west northwest at three. So it's crawling off to the west. Pressure is at 1004 millibars. The lower the pressure, typically the stronger the storm. So it's not all that strong yet, but you can see it's you could really pick out the circulation somewhat. Um now it's the forecast. Let's see. Do I have this graphic? Oh, good. Okay. You can see the orange along the coast there. That's tropical storm warnings all the way from the panhandle of Florida across the Mississippi Delta over towards New Orleans. Now, it's going to keep moving west northwest or northwest for about a day or so and then curve off to the west and pretty much just hug the coastline along the northern Gulf for the next few days. Likely strengthening to a storm of maybe about 50 miles an hour or so.

[00:07:11]That's the forecast from the hurricane center. But that's about as strong as it's going to get. It's just not going to be in a very good environment.

[00:07:16]There's a lot of wind shear. It's not going to be directly over the water. So there's nothing really to cause this thing to strengthen a whole lot. And the environment just does not seem favorable at all for strengthening as it gets further off to the west. So as it crosses uh over Louisiana and towards Texas, according to the forecast, it's likely going to weaken back into a tropical depression by the time it gets here. So it could bring us some rainfall. And we do have some rain chances in the 14-day forecast for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but not all that great. Only about a 20 to 30% chance. Of course, that could change. It could go up. It could go down. it could go completely out because really typically you have to be on the northern and eastern side of these storms to get a whole lot of substantial precipitation or weather out of them. Um, so unless this thing holds it together and makes a beline here, I just don't see a whole lot happening here. But we'll keep those chances in the forecast. Grace, you got that one? No, it's not allergies, it's a cold. Started Thursday night and it's it's going away. It's just taking its good old time. Tell you, my nose has been running like crazy though today. I think it's the cold air. We keep our studio really cold for the equipment.

[00:08:15]So, as soon as I got to work, it just started right up again. [snorts] It's a lot of fun. Uh, Houston, yeah, Houston, uh, has a better chance to see stuff out of Berth, Joe. Uh, honestly, I don't see a whole lot happening there either. I would say a bit more rainfall.

[00:08:27]So, it's definitely something to keep an eye on, especially Friday into a Saturday for Houston. Um, but for San Antonio, not so much. Houston, more so, but I don't think it's it's going to be a weak tropical storm or a tropical depression by the time it gets here. At least that's how it's looking now for you, Joe. All right. Now back here at home, let's take a look at your hourby hour futurecast. Here we are tomorrow morning at 7. You see the clouds closer to the coastal plane. Typically happens in the summertime. We get that moisture coming in here. Clouds build up. Low level cloud cover. And that's what's going to happen tomorrow morning most likely according to the HRR model. HRR HR. Further off to the west, not so much in the way of moisture and cloud cover.

[00:09:03]So San Antonio westward probably a bit more in the way of clear sky and sunshine to start. Everyone should start off in the 70s though tomorrow morning.

[00:09:09]The low to mid70s. We thought we'd get more flooding. Yeah. And San Antonio didn't end up getting a lot of flooding, guys. It just all happened to the west of here. More than two feet of rain.

[00:09:17]Unbelievable. That's more than half of a year worth of rainfall in San Antonio that fell to the west of here. Crazy.

[00:09:23]And there's still so much water left over. Hearts go out to everyone cleaning up from all that. All right, here we go into the afternoon tomorrow. Notice most of us mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Really, it's going to be a lot like today. And temperatures in about the same spot. Mid to upper 90s for daytime highs for a lot of us. Lower 100s though in our southern counties.

[00:09:41]Pierce Alcatula were 105 this afternoon.

[00:09:43]I didn't check on the actual high temperature but I know in our afternoon newscast it was 105. Heated index around 110. So o if you live there hot stuff.

[00:09:54]Tomorrow pretty much the same thing. So if you didn't like if you like today's weather good news you're going to get it tomorrow and the next day and the next day. Welcome to summer. Here we go into Wednesday morning. Stop the clock at 7 a.m. Pretty much the same thing. Not showing as much cloud cover as high pressure strengthens over us a little bit more. So, we'll start out mostly clear, mostly sunny on your Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. temperatures once again starting out in the 70s. And by the end of the day, we're looking at mostly sunny skies again. High temperatures in the mid to uper 90s and low 100s again on your Wednesday. This one showing a little bit of a disturbance trying to come in here.

[00:10:24]Could give us a very isolated shower or thunderstorm. We don't have anything in the forecast though. I'm keeping it dry on Wednesday, but we'll have to take a look and see if this meal verifies. For now, though, I'm keeping it dry. Most of us will be dry on Wednesday, even if this does happen. Uh, so plan on a mainly dry day on Wednesday. Let's see.

[00:10:40]Eagle Pass. Is Eagle Pass gonna get rain? Uh, not out of Bertha. I just don't see that happening. It's too far inland, honestly. Um, definitely not the next few days. Uh, so that's your answer, Manny. Yeah, too toasty out there. You know, David, my mom is in Philadelphia and I talked to her on the way [snorts] back into work today after dinner and, uh, she's saying it's gonna, well, she texted me and said, "It's going to be in the 80s. Are you jealous?" Well, I don't know. 90s isn't too bad. We haven't hit 100 today. The crazy thing is they hit 100 in Philadelphia already. Way over 100 with humidity. We didn't. But hey, we get this heat all the time. They at least get a break. All right. Victoria going to get any rain from the tropical storm?

[00:11:16]Maybe a little bit. Uh, John, I think the coast will get a better chance for rainfall Friday into Saturday and Sunday, but I honestly don't see a whole lot. Um, and it looks like it's going to speed up and get out of here and just get chewed up by the atmosphere. So, I don't see a whole lot happening with Bertha, even along the coast, but there will be some impacts, but it's not going to be a strong storm whatsoever. And I don't think it's going to be one of those tropical storms that sits there and just dumps rain over and over and over again. So I don't think it's going to be a big deal. Uh let's see. Yeah, unfair. Exactly.

[00:11:44]Every time she visits here, it's in the 100s. She came last month and it was only in the 90s. Oh, thank you, Manny. I repeat that. I appreciate that. It's the cold. It's getting in my head. We'll start out with partly cloudy skies in the morning. More clouds toward the coast. More sunshine further inland.

[00:12:08]Temperature of 74 in San Antonio. By the afternoon by noon, mostly sunny skies.

[00:12:12]87. Might be a couple degrees warmer than that. I'm going with 87. Tomorrow's high 97. The heat index between 100 and 102 in the afternoon tomorrow. So, practice all your h, you know, hydration, water of course. Stay out of the sun if possible. Wear plenty of sunscreen. Um, wear your sunglasses.

[00:12:28]Wear a hat if you can to protect yourself from the sun. anything you can do. Try to stay cool. Uh southeast winds 5 to 10 miles per hour throughout the day tomorrow. All right, here's that 14-day forecast. All right, so 97 tomorrow, 98 on Wednesday, 97 Thursday.

[00:12:41]So really the same thing all three days.

[00:12:43]And there come the rain chances. Again, they will likely change. Not triple go up or down, but at this point we're just going with the 20 to 30% chance of rain Friday, Saturday, and Sunday because of what Bertha might do. Love the name Bertha. Do you know how they name tropical storms and hurricanes? the hurricane center comes up with the list way ahead of time. So the names are set for the next six years. If there's a sto, let's just say Bertha became something monstrous and caused a lot of damage and [snorts] loss of life, they retire the name and they would replace it with a new name. So Bertha, an older name would be replaced with, you know, a current name, like a fun, like a B name.

[00:13:16]Let's see, what would that be? What's a girl's name that starts with B?

[00:13:20]>> Darcy, what's a girl's name that starts with B?

[00:13:23]>> B, like Bertha.

[00:13:26]But >> Bailey, that's a good one. Bailey, that could be the new name. But Bertha is not going to be too strong. So, we're gonna have a Bertha for a while. But that's how they do it. They replace it with something like Bailey. Thank you, Darcy.

[00:13:39]That's what I think. [snorts] All right, back to this. Uh, so slight chance of rain Friday, Saturday, and Sunday because of Bertha. Uh, high temperatures in the mid 90s, a little cooler thanks to Bertha. And then for the rest of the forecast, we go back to high pressure, back to dry weather. We do have a 10% chance on Sunday. Oh, I got to fix that Monday.
