Extreme rainfall events are often caused by the combined influence of major atmospheric systems, such as the Western Pacific subtropical high-pressure system, which can transport warm moist air from tropical oceans into inland regions, triggering heavy rainfall and flash floods.

China chaos today..!! Massive flood across the country, paralyzing life several ProvincesAdded:
Hallelujah.
Nine people have died and 11 others are still reported missing due to flash floods that have hit several areas in China since last weekend, May 24th, 2026.
China's Shinua news agency reported that heavy and extreme rains lashed Yonguan district, Chongqing city from Saturday night to Sunday. The heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides in the area. As a result of this hydrometeorological disaster, approximately 2,000 residents were evacuated to safer areas. Rescue operations are still ongoing as many cities and towns suffered severe damage from the disaster.
Videos circulating on social media show flood waters mixed with mud hitting residential areas. Other images show vehicles deployed as part of the rescue operation.
Heavy rains frequently inundate several areas in China. The National Climate Center reported that since the start of the monsoon on April 1st, the average rainfall has reached 110.1 mm or about 18.6% above normal. Sunyang, an expert at the National Climate Center, also reported widespread extreme rainfall across northern and southern China.
A total of 76 national level meteorological stations recorded record-breaking daily rainfall, Sun said in a China daily report. The record included in Ping Guang Dong Province with 597.7 mm of rainfall in a single day while Jingha in Hub province, Shang Yo in Jangi Province, and Guangong in the Guang Seiwang Autonomous Region also surpassed daily rainfall records.
Another meteorologist at the National Climate Center, Ga Hui, said the current rainfall is largely due to the combined influence of several major atmospheric systems. The western Pacific subtropical high-pressure system, a major weather system affecting East Asia, has remained unusually strong and has been moving farther west and north than usual over the past week. The western flank of the system has been continuously transporting warm moist air from the tropical oceans into inland China which has helped trigger the heavy rainfall.
