In FC 26, the 4-4-1-1 formation is considered the best formation, with recommended roles including Left Back and Right Back as defend, Left Center Midfielder as deep lying playmaker build up, Right Center Midfielder as box to box balanced, Left Midfielder and Right Midfielder as inside forward balanced, Center Attacking Midfielder as playmaker balanced, and Striker as advanced forward attack. Defensive depth settings significantly impact AI behavior: above 60 depth activates zonal defense with auto AI press and offside traps, with higher depths (72+) becoming more aggressive; 58-59 depth is recommended for balanced play without auto offside traps, while 65 depth provides moderate AI press. The 4-5-1 formation offers more defensive stability but is harder to play, making it suitable for players seeking stability before switching to the more attack-oriented 4-4-1-1.

The Most BROKEN Formation on FC 26 Right Now! Best TacticsAdded:
Today is Friday and Friday is tactics day. We will start with the best formation on the game, the 4-4-1-1.
This week you will see significant changes. Over the past 3-4 months my 4-4-1-1 has fairly remained the same, but this week it's different. Left back defend, right back defend, okay? Our LCM is going to be deep lying playmaker build up. On this current defensive depth I prefer using one of my CMs as deep lying a build up. Our RCM is going to be box to box balanced. Both of our LM and RM are going to be inside forward balanced inside forward balanced. Our CAM is going to be playmaker balanced.
Our ST is going to be advanced forward attack. Alternatively, you can use false nine build up or attack as well, okay?
What do I prefer? I prefer advanced forward. Here comes the interesting part. Most players are now playing a balanced depth. My style is high depth and that is something I still actually prefer.
Lately, I have been trying out lower depths. What is the main difference?
After 60 depth, zonal defense gets activated where team does auto AI press, auto offside traps. Higher the number after 60, the more aggressive the auto AI press, auto overload ball side and auto offside traps will be, right? After 72, it gets really extreme. I prefer high depth, but like I said, most pro players have now changed their depth to balanced. And this is where Gank, who is a master of the high depth, he plays 90 depth, was playing 60 depth in UCL.
Did it suit his style? I wouldn't think so. To be honest, I prefer Andrus playing high on high. He's just so much different and it's such a treat to watch him play a higher depth. What depth am I playing? I am playing a 65 depth, okay?
But if you want to strictly play a balanced depth, you don't want auto offside traps at all, you don't want the AI press at all, you want the AI to stay back, then 58 59 depth is the best one for you. Don't go super low. I have also tried 40. I don't recommend it for you guys, okay? So, 58 depth is what I would recommend. I'm playing 65 because like I said, I'm a massive fan of the higher depth, but 65 I still get some auto press, some auto offside traps. Not as consistent, not as aggressive, but compared to 58 59, it's a lot better.
And this was on 60 depth. And I am using short passing. I'm also playing 4-5-1 a lot, but before I show you the 4-5-1 tactics, guys, if you want to improve on FC 26, then join the Insiders Club.
Inside the community, we have four coaches. We give you personalized feedback twice a week. Not only that, we have a whole structured classroom with video and written content. You always ask me for the code, and the code is always present in my videos, literally on the screen. You can see it.
But in my opinion, putting roles is a lot more easier, a lot more efficient than copying these weird case-sensitive codes, but each to their own, I guess.
For the 4-5-1 flat, I have changed some roles as well. Fullback defend, fullback defend, center backs defend defend, goalkeeper sweeper keeper build up. Our CM, middle CM, deep lying playmaker defend. Our RCM is going to be box-to-box balanced. Our LCM is going to be playmaker attack. Our LM is going to be inside forward. Our RM is going to be inside forward. For our ST, I'm using advanced forward attack, but the better one would be false nine build up or attack. I just prefer using advanced forward attack, okay? 4-5-1 is a harder formation to play compared to the 4-4-1-1. I will tell you this much. This one is a lot more harder, but this gives you more defensive stability. Many of my personal pro friends start out with the 4-5-1 and then later switch to the 4-4-1-1. This is something I have been doing lately as well. Most definitely my attack is better on the 4-4-1-1, right?
Formations are subjective as well.
4-4-1-1 for me the best formation on the game, but if you are someone who wants more stability, you can start with the 4-5-1. If it's not working for you, you can switch to the 4-4-1-1. Having multiple setups will definitely get you some extra wins in champs as well. For the tactics, we are using short passing this time. Usually I use balanced on the 4-5-1. Our depth remains the same, 65.
Then comes the 4-2-3-1 wide that I showed you last week. This is again good for variation. If you feel like nothing is working out for you, you want more overload on the wings, you can put this formation. Wingback, wingback, deep lying build up, deep lying build up, inside forward for LM RM, cam playmaker, ST false nine build up. Again, if you want to use this to hold your lead, you can do that as well. Then in that case, you would simply change to fullback defend, fullback defend, okay? That is the adjustment you would make depending on the game. We are using short passing and 65 depth on this formation as well.
These are your tactics for this week.
