Snake Rig
Added:All right. So, this next one is a snake rig that I've implemented. And this snake rig uses a few different layers of rivets. It's based partially off the toad storm writeup which is doing a projection of these points from this IK spline onto another surface and then it's recreating a a rivet that's moving along the surface uh using the cpaw closest point on surface and then it's using blend colors to do the pinning so that we can hold the the end of the snake kind of fixed and then be able to animate the rest. So, we've got a stretchy attribute here. And so, if I turn that on or off, the snake is stretching.
And so, if I were to grab the head of this guy and kind of pull him, he's remaining pinned, right?
Okay. And that is variable.
We can do a partial stretchiness. It's got sign offset to make it slither.
Okay. So, in this uh sort of transverse axis here, we've got a slither, but it also has a forward sign component so that the snake stretches in the forward direction. Okay? And you can kind of see that here the head of this is stretching. So, that's actually not animated. That's free animation that's coming from an attribute here which is doing another sine wave in the in the longitudinal direction. So along the compression of the snake and that can be adjusted for a phase offset to get different timing.
Okay. It's kind of cranked up really high to exaggerate the effect right now.
Okay. Okay. And then the plane itself can be twisted, rotated, posed like this for the snake to ride on.
Okay. So, pretty snake- like motion. And again, all I've done is is key its position on the path and set the attributes. The sine wave motion is free. The extending and contracting motion is free. that's not required to be animated and it's all variable. You can adjust those parameters.
Okay, pretty happy with that.
Pretty quick and dirty snake animation from that.
