Effective flood control in urban areas requires comprehensive drainage infrastructure, including double drains and underground drainage systems, rather than superficial road repairs. The Evbukhu Road project in Benin City demonstrates how proper drainage engineering can solve perennial flooding and erosion problems, transforming previously impassable roads into functional infrastructure. This approach addresses the root cause of flooding by managing water flow systematically, preventing the recurring damage that occurs when only surface-level repairs are implemented.

>> [music] >> Whatever issue concerning flooding and erosion on a road, this is the final stop.
>> [music] >> There's one important thing I want us to understand about this [music] government.
The type of work Governor Obaseki was doing.
It takes a sincere heart.
It takes a sincere government.
It takes a caring government to undertake the manner of job, the manner of quality, the quality of work that you [music] find in Edo State under this administration. The last time we saw it was under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
[music] Quality of Quality of work.
You don't just come and pour concrete on the road. [music] You don't just come and paint the road and then you move on. No.
>> [music] >> Quality drains on both ends of the road.
This is not about drains, about tarring of road.
This is the sincerity [music] in doing it. This is about the the the care, the care, the concern in it. Look at [music] double drain. Look at an underground drain that Governor Obaseki is [music] constructing on Ewu Road.
