This psychological horror short film explores the philosophical concept that memories may be unreliable constructs rather than accurate records of past events, and that our perception of reality can be manipulated by external forces, raising questions about the nature of truth and personal identity.

Added:Life is made up of memories.
Memories that [music] all exist within this very moment. In fact, there is no other moment in time that exists other than right [snorts] now. There's no future. There's no past. [music] Every thought, every plan, every intention may deceive you to thinking otherwise. But the truth is, the past is dust. And the future never truly comes.
The present moment is the only thing that truly exists within our perceivable reality. All else is a dream within [music] a dream. All else is a story fed by the mind. All else is an illusion.
And all else is a lie.
I once had beautiful memories, but now I recognize none [music] of them.
I become a prisoner in my own body.
And though I live, breathe, and move, I now feel as if I'm slowly dying with each breath.
I'm waiting to wake up from this nightmare.
I'm waiting to wake up from this pain.
[bell] >> Morning. Need fresh coffee.
>> That alarm. You have to change that.
It's not healthy to wake up in a fried every morning.
>> It's the sounds of nature. I read that it's healthy to wake up to sounds of nature. It's our favorite place to be, silly.
>> Playing in the forest, picnics in the woods, listening to the sounds of the streams.
>> It's just too loud. It's too loud.
>> You must have had another nightmare.
Your medicine is right there, too.
>> Okay. Thanks.
>> You're so cute.
Don't forget to take your vitamins. When you're better, we'll take a trip and go for a long hike in the forest.
>> Okay.
>> Got to get ready for work.
>> Love you.
>> Love you, too.
>> Hey, how you feeling?
>> Better every day.
>> Good.
>> We're out of water.
>> I can go get some if you like.
>> You don't need to go outside. No, it's okay. It's fine.
>> He shouldn't be walking around so soon.
Hey, Mark. Hey. You okay? You all right, Mark? You all right? You all right? You have to take it easy. Okay. All right.
You all right? Okay. What's What's down there in there? Nothing. Mold. Bad stuff. We'll get around to renovating it sometime. We'll make it whatever you want.
All right. You all right?
All right. Come on.
>> Are you journaling?
>> I am.
>> Good. Remember everything I told you.
All of our memories. They'll soon again return to you.
I love you.
>> I love you.
>> Call if you need anything.
>> Okay.
[snorts] >> [music] >> Uh, hi. I'm with Sun Solar.
Holy shit. Mike Mike To.
>> What?
>> When was high school together in New Jersey?
>> I don't know you, >> dude. Are you fucking with me?
>> No, no, no. My my my my name's Mark. Um, okay.
It's crazy. You look just like this guy that I knew.
>> You know, people people look alike. You know, we're pretty much all related.
>> Incest. Word.
Uh, so are you interested in uh buying some solar energy for your own?
>> Well, this isn't my home. I mean, I live here, but it's uh my girlfriend and her father's place. Um, but if you have like a a brochure, like a business card or something.
>> Uh, yeah.
Yeah.
So weird.
You don't have like a twin brother or anything?
>> No.
>> This is crazy. You You look just like this guy that I knew.
>> I don't know.
>> Oh, got my card. So, >> all right. Well, uh, have a good day.
>> Yeah, you too.
So, some guy thought he knew me today.
>> What do you mean?
>> This the solar panel dude. I mean, he thought he knew me.
>> So weird.
>> But he was like he was really convinced.
You know what I'm convinced about?
>> What?
>> This stop stop.
Do you ever feel like do you do you ever feel like like you don't know who you are?
Like you're just living in someone else's story?
You were in a horrible car accident, Mark. Just be patient with yourself.
It's a miracle that you're even alive.
What are you doing?
>> Oh, I I just wanted to I just wanted to check something. Is your computer broken?
>> No, it's it's downstairs.
>> I'll be in bed soon.
>> Okay.
>> [snorts] >> I need to talk to you.
>> I told you this is is not my house.
>> It's not about that. Can I come in?
>> Yeah.
I told you that this was you.
Whoever's trying to conceal your identity did a damn good job because I couldn't find anything on you at all.
>> I I don't understand. I was in an accident.
>> Obviously, whatever these people have told you is not true. They're hiding something. I suggest you get the fuck out of here. You can you can come to my house if you want.
I have to go. Call me if anything.
Hey, I need to talk to you. Just uh call me back. Okay.
Hello.
Oh, fuck me.
Let's go.
Hey, are you My dad's working late tonight. We can order in.
>> What are you hiding?
>> What are you talking about?
The basement. What's in the basement?
>> Babe, you're freaking me out.
>> I heard someone down there.
>> You were in a really bad car accident.
>> Tell me the truth.
>> I'm telling you the truth. You're scaring me.
>> Everything you've told me is a lie, and I want to know why.
>> I don't know what you're talking about.
>> Rick Rick told me everything.
>> Who the fuck is Rick?
>> I went to high school with him.
The police are on the way there. There's nowhere for you to go.
>> Mark, you're being crazy.
>> No. My entire life, I thought my life has been a lie. And I was right. I was fucking right.
I want you to hear for yourself what he told me. So you know that I know.
I mean, what did you think was going to happen? I was just wasn't going to find out.
>> Mark, >> shut up.
Everything's going to be okay. Mark, >> that is not my name.
>> No, that's right. It isn't your name.
And I'm going to tell you everything, but you cannot harm my daughter.
Just drop it. Drop it.
>> What am I about to tell you, you cannot use against me or my daughter.
>> I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
>> What did you do?
>> A few months ago, my daughter did something very foolish. She was at a college party. She got into a car accident and she hit you guys and your fiance and your two friends.
Your two friends are dead, but I was able to save both of your lives. I wanted to call 911, but by the time the ambulance got there, they wouldn't have been able to help you. I was fortunate enough to have my surgical supplies with me and I stopped the blood loss and I saved both of your lives. It's because of me that you're both still alive. I couldn't call the police. My daughter would have gone to jail for the rest of her life. She's a good girl. The system the system is so corrupt. The lesson learned here isn't imprisonment. It's feeling the depths of sorrow for what you've done and accepting it.
Learning from it. The ultimate punishment is genuine compassion. I'm sure you can understand why I did what I did. My daughter took care of you. She slowly fell in love with you. She nursed you back to health. We brought you here.
We brought you here to take care of you.
And we were going to tell you everything when you were ready.
We didn't want the painful truth to impede the process.
>> Mark, I love you.
>> Stop. I mean, how I mean, how crazy are you people? I mean, how how inhumane can you be?
>> If you had a daughter, you would do the same thing.
>> Your daughter killed people.
>> I know I messed up. It haunts me every day. But I couldn't go to prison the one time that I screwed up. Everyone deserves forgiveness. I heal people now.
I work in an addiction facility. I get to help save lives every day.
>> This has to be a dream. This has to be a dream.
>> You're right. It is a dream. Relax and take a deep breath. Let Let her go.
Listen to me.
Everything he says is a lie. Run. Run.
>> I told you.
>> I TOLD YOU TO WATCH WHAT YOU SAY.
>> MARK, come back.
>> Daddy, I can't lose him.
>> You won't lose him.
>> [music] [music] >> Look, I'm not going to hurt you.
Everything's going to be okay.
My daughter loves you. I love you like a son.
Mark.
Mark.
I can see what he's done.
I can see what we've done.
I'm trapped in here.
There's no getting out.
You can find home within the breath.
Close your eyes and breathe.
lowering oxygen levels.
Lowering pulse.
Terminating consciousness. Are you sure you want to terminate life?
Ending life. Confirmed.
>> You can find home within the breath.
>> Malfunction.
Termination failed.
>> [music] [music] >> You killed my daddy, didn't you?
I'll miss him.
But not as much as I'd miss you.
It all worked out.
Everything I planned. Daddy has a very big life insurance policy and now we're okay.
>> What did he do to me?
>> I want to tell you the truth now.
Is that okay with you?
>> Rick was my boyfriend, but he got greedy. He fed you what I wanted him to feed you and got you to do what I couldn't do.
>> No, he wasn't lying to me.
>> There was partial truth in what he told you.
Mike, you weren't in a car accident.
You were a volunteer for my father to operate on your mind. He invented a machine that can find where consciousness is located and manipulated.
>> Consciousness can't be seen, but in thermal energy, it can be detected. His goal was to manipulate it and to heal the mind of all its pain and suffering.
His purpose, his intention was to cure the worlds of their sickness, to remove the black, decaying collective disease within the mind and fill it with bright interconnecting light.
>> You sure it wasn't to find whatever lights left within your fucked up souls?
>> You're right.
My light was lost a long time ago when my mother died.
My once vibrant flame withered and decayed with her last breath.
And then I met you.
You were just a starving artist looking to make a buck. You were so hurt and so lost. You thought that the world had given up on you, but really it was you that gave up on yourself.
But I saw promise in you. Daddy saw promise in you, too.
Your name is Michael Tamo, and I do love you. I fell in love with you, and I did all of this for us.
So, if you're going to kill me, I want your eyes to be the last thing I see before the holy kingdom of God.
You betrayed me, liar.
[screaming] >> [screaming] >> Mark, I love you.
Mark, [screaming] daddy.
Daddy, please.
>> [screaming] >> And there I sat, sitting still, focusing [music] on my breath to the sounds of nature, opening my eyes from a story that I was fed, a story that I was telling myself, a story that I [music] was perpetuating. And for the first time in my life, I was finally awake. For the first time in my life, [music] I created something beyond myself. For the first time in my life, I created something out of nothing. And if this is [music] only just a dream, then I must simply let it be.
