They know what it is. 1400.
>> This is the story of the Cirin City Gangsters, a gang located on the east side of Chicago and one of the most historic gangs in Chicago. There is an incredible amount of history to go through from the 60s to today. We will talk about big names like Jimmy D, E Wild, and Black Douggee. We will also go through the early and more recent wars and the internal conflicts that have plagued Circin City from within for years and have claimed many victims. We will also go through today's members and the new generation and a little about the music within Cirin City. I hope you will enjoy this video.
We will start this video with a short introduction to the Cirin City gangsters where we will go over some basic facts about where they are located, what nation they claim, and some other facts that might be good to know for a deeper history. Circin City or the Circ also goes by names like 1400D, Jonno World, Pharaoh Gang, Roblock or Suttowi. All those names we will get into a little later in the story. Another name for Cirin City is OTS which stands for only the Cirs and is based on pure breads from the gangster Disciple Nation.
However, back in the 70s, Cirin City was based as an independent alliance called Cirin Disciples, which today has died out. Today, most members claim GD or OTS. Cirin's main area is 73rd and Dorchester, but the area they control ranges from 71st to 76th in Kenwood to Dorchester. Cirin City borders several sets such as Pocket Town, Moose Block, Zoland, Guop Gang, and Eblock, also known as Kill to Survive.
Circin City was created in 1968 by a man called Swan who was one of the founding members of the disciples and was present for the original meetings when the nation was first formed. The whole thing started in the late60s when African-Ameans first began moving south of 71st Street into the Southshore community. This caused a major racial backlash because the mostly white community at the time was unhappy about them arriving. To make matters worse, the black pea stones and Cobra Stones had already taken over the streets north of 71st and wanted to move into the area as it changed. The black youth south of 71st were outnumbered by both hostile white groups and the stones. So Swan founded the Cirin disciples at the corner of 75th and Dorchester down to 75th and Stony Island. The Circans got really deep in the 70s as wide flight took its course and Cirin City eventually spread from 72nd to 75th.
When the BGDN split happened in 1981, they became the Cirin gangsters we know today and they are still deep in the city to this day. For a long time, Cirin City even served as a headquarters and a main meeting place for the garden. The name Cirin, which means kings, actually came from a priest doing community outreach in that area who met the original members and referred to them as Cirin, which eventually became known as Cirin City.
It is important to clarify that the first Circin City existed long before the set on 75th Street ever rose to prominence. The original home of the Cirin Disciples was actually located from 59th to 57th between Housed and Rine, an area known today as no love city. Their leader, Chief Swan, was a highly intelligent, forward-thinking man and one of the original founders of the entire disciple nation. The Circans began as a branch of the Devil's Disciples in 1967.
The roots of the entire organization go back to 1963 at 66th in Egleston, where Leverne Long Street started the disciples in his basement. When Long Street eventually left the streets to become a pimp, Charlie Atkins took the reigns and renamed the group The Devil's Disciples. The trajectory of the gang changed forever when David Barksdale returned from IYC and assumed leadership, expanding the Devil's Disciples into various branches such as the Cirin, Boss Pimp Disciples, Mottown Disciples, and the Speed Kings. By 1968, the movement shifted toward the Black Power movement. Influenced by Fred Hampton Senior, David Barksdale and spokesman Michael Shane renamed the organization the Black Disciples to reflect that political consciousness.
The original circans were a core part of this era. Then in 1969, a historic merger took place at St. Steven's Chapel on South Poria. King David's Black Disciples and King Hoover's Supreme Gangsters join forces to create the Black Gangster Disciple Nation. BGDN governed by two kings and two princes.
The Circans maintained their identity as a specific branch under the BGDN umbrella for years. However, in 1984, the organization transitioned into the garden and later adopted the philosophy of growth and development. At this point, all individual branches were officially ordered to disband to create a unified nation. Even though they operated under different names like the high supremes, maniacs, or circans, they were all ultimately unified as black gangster disciples. This deep history at 59th and Halstead laid the foundation for the Cirin name that would eventually travel to the east side and become a central player in the wars of today.
Another influential figure from the early days of Circin City was Jimmy D.
Who was given responsibility for the area by the founder of the Gangster Disciples, Larry Hoover. While there were other founders alongside Swan, Jimmy D held the most pull because of his heavy reputation on the street and his history of violence. Jimmy's power was so significant that he was reportedly the reason Nuke Town OB39 flipped from GD to BD. At the time, they were GDs running with some heavy hitters. But after a situation went wrong and blood was spilled, they felt betrayed and went to war with all the GD sets. During the 80s and 90s, Cirin under Jimmy's leadership before he was arrested also ran Hood gang. A group of mostly black disciples and gangster disciples located around 67th in Blackstone. This connection is part of the reason why members like Lil and King Rico from Pocket Town were once cool with Zo land on 69th in Dorchester. At that time, Cirin was a massive power player and even had pocket town under them, which lasted until the war started in '06. Cirin City was so hot around this time that they even rivaled Terror Town for the biggest powerhouse during this time.
In the '90s, the leader of Cirin City, Jimmy D, was arrested as part of a major police crackdown on the gangster disciples for working directly under Larry Hoover. While Circin started as a GD set, the organization changed significantly after Jimmy's arrest and the departure of many original members.
Jimmy D has been locked up for 27 years, and out of those years, he has been held for 15 years in solitary confinement. He is currently being held out of state, far away from his family and support system. His situation is marked by extreme legal inconsistencies, including being held for four years on death row without an actual death sentence and two years in an immigrant detention center.
Despite these contradictions and the length of time served, he remains locked up to this day. Today, the Circs generally don't claim GD or BD, mostly because almost all of their enemies are GDS, CVLs, 4 CHS, and Stones. When Jimmy D went away, he handed control of Cirin over to his nephew E Wild and another prominent member named Black Douggee.
Those two ran Cirin City from the9s until the transition into the modern generation. Alongside D Wild and Black Douggee, other main faces of the set included Bulldog, DJ Mike, Apple, Coilla, Trigger, and Mei. All of these members were extremely active on the front lines once the war with Pocket Town jumped off, which we will come to later in the story.
What's really crazy is that Cirin City actually shares a piece of their territory with a gang called B City.
That group was formed after a member named Baba was killed in 2009 by Cirin City. They are based on 71st in Blackstone right in Cirin's territory and go by Willieville or Will City and the members there claimed BD. One year later in August 2010, Cello and Bod from Pocket Town killed Stony Tony also known as Booby Stone from Cirin City. Both were caught and charged for the drive by shooting. Bodie, the driver, has a parole date set for 203, while the shooter, Cello, isn't up until 2078.
It turns out Michi from Cirin City was the one who told on them. Booby Stone came from a huge neighborhood family called the Keysers, who made up a large part of Cirin City's OGs back in the day. Tragedy had hit that family before, 9 years before Booby was killed. Another member of the Kaiser family named Black Douggee, Cirin's leader, was shot dead at a gas station. A year after that, a friend of Douggee took revenge and killed his alleged killer, 28-year-old Layman. Some people say Layman was from Pocket Town, while others think it was internal because he was killed right in Cirin territory. The man arrested for layman's murder, Antonio Porter, was sentenced to 65 years. However, there's a lot of evidence suggesting he's actually innocent, including new DNA evidence and the fact that six witnesses pointed to someone else. The police basically just looked for anyone with the nickname Black and pinned it on him.
There was a big article about his fight to prove his innocence in ABC News back in 2018.
In October 2013, another member of the Kaiser family was killed. His name was Tik, better known as Trife, and he was a member of the Circin City gangsters.
Trife was shot and killed by two unknown offenders who hit him in the head. He was a rapper from the set and an interesting fact is that he actually used to record his music in the same studio that La Capone used. Trife's brother Larry Shashiaran Kaiser said his brother always tried to create a positive vibe with his music. The two of them even started a nonprofit called Royalty to Y to try and reach out to the youth. Right before he was killed, Dvik was working with his brother to edit a new music video for his song Respect the Youth, which was dedicated to young people who had lost their lives to gun violence. His brother mentioned how ironic it was that Tik wanted the video to show scenes of emptiness, like empty playgrounds, basketball courts, and school hallways, only for him to become a victim of that same violence himself.
To this day, it is still unknown which gang was actually behind Tri's murder.
Now that we've looked at that, we're going to go back a bit in the timeline to dig deeper into the history of Cirin City and how their wars with Pocket Town and East first jumped off.
What's interesting about Cirin City is that they hardly have any allies. While many people speculate that NLMB and Cirin are were allies, that is false.
Back in the 80s and 90s, the Cirs and Terror Town were actually at war with each other during the era when the conflicts were primarily gangster Disciples versus Stones. The only gang that is truly close to Cirin City is Gotti World, also known as 8 by13 or Hottie Way. Hottie Way is essentially an alliance or hallway made up of members from DB block, Eblock, Seven Deuce, and Gotti World. The name Gotti World was formed in honor of a member named Gotti from 8 by13 who was gunned down in April 2011 either by KTS or 600, but most likely KTS. Since then, the bond between the Cirss and Hottie Way has remained one of their only solid connections in a neighborhood where they are mostly surrounded by enemies. The relationship with Gotti World is mostly based on the members growing up together and going to the same schools where they became tight from a young age. Gotti World is located on 75th and Roads.
What the circs do have a lot of, however, are enemies. They are literally surrounded on all sides. Their main ops are KTS, Pocket Town, Moose Block, and Maul Town. Those are the big four.
Cutthroat, and East End. Pocket Town gets its name from the physical shape of the area it occupies, which looks like a pocket on a map. Their territory stretches from 69th and Kimbark in the northeast down to 75th South Chicago Avenue and Woodlon in the south. While technically located in the greater Grand Crossing area on the far south side, many people still group it in with the east side discussions. Pocket Town's borders put them right up against groups like Eblock/KTS, Gotti World, Maul Town, and Cirin City.
The proximity is crazy. You could be walking down East 73rd Street and suddenly cross right into Cirin territory, which is enemy ground for Pocket Town members. A detail many people miss is that Pocket Town is actually divided into two groups, the new breeds and the GDS, specifically the CTG branch. In reality though, there isn't much of a divide. They share the same territory, hang out together, and move as one unit. While the set was mostly new breeds back in the 80s and 90s, the majority of the younger generation today claims GD.
As I mentioned earlier, Cirin City's main enemies are Pocket Town, and that war has been going on for exactly 20 years. It all started in 2006. But back in 2005, something happened within Pocket Town that really stirred the pot when a new generation took over. Lily and King Rico, who are now well-known names and were leaders of that new generation, were absolute menaces who put the holist side in fear. Both are responsible for multiple murders and played a role in the formation of other gangs. Lle was born in 1989 and his older brother Rico was born in 1987.
Their names, especially Lil Lei, have resonated in the streets since the early 2000s when they were only 12 to 14 years old. They even had the older guys from the neighborhood scared. Lily, Rico, aunt, Cory, Mike, Larry, Pez, and a few other pocket town teens were strictly after the money. During their upbringing, the OGs were the ones making all the cash, which Lei, Rico, and the others didn't accept. They wanted a piece of the pie, so they started robbing the old heads, stealing cars, and selling drugs. This led to constant fights and shootings between the older and newer generations. By around 2005 or 2006, this younger group had officially taken over Pocket Town. Rico, also known as Money Man, was the one who taught his younger brother Lil to move, sell drugs, and steal cars from an early age.
For those who know the history of Jarro City, you know that ABM and Pocket Town used to be close friends. Both sets, especially Lili, were known for throwing huge parties on the south side. Lily, Cory, and King Rico even used to help ABM fight, shoot, and rob people from Murder Town. This supposedly led to Lil killing Drow from Murder Town, which is why Dro City was formed in 2005, though some people argue it was actually the Moser Crank Town who did it. Back then, Jarvis from ABM was cool with both Pocket Town and Cirin City gangsters, who were actually cordial with each other at the time. In December 2005, Jarvis was at a party with members of Cirin City. During the night, Lily and some other Pocket Town members knocked on the door wanting to get in, but Jarvis, who considered a friend, wouldn't let him in. The theory is that Jarvis just didn't want any trouble starting at the party, but it ended up costing him his life. Lil came back later and shot Jarvis in the face, killing him on the spot. Jarro City was later formed to honor Jarvis, which is why people say Lil invented Jarro City.
Surprisingly, there wasn't a huge wave of revenge right after the murder. Back then, gun violence wasn't as constant as it is now, and members still tried to talk out their problems instead of being obsessed with get back like they are in the current era. Even after the killing, Lil kept coming through and shooting up ABM territory. ABM eventually retaliated by killing Lil Albert from Pocket Town, but it backfired quickly when Pocket Town took out another member. After that, ABM basically waved the white flag because most of their members were focused on money and drugs rather than sliding.
As many of you know, Lil Lelay had a massive reputation on the street. Jarvis and Dro weren't his only rumored bodies.
He was linked to several others, though some are also claimed by different groups. Another person he is rumored to have killed as Darren, also known as Lil Mo, from the Cirin City Gangsters in July 2009. And yes, this is the same Liil Mo that Lamron mentions. However, a lot of people believe no Love City NLC was actually behind Lil Mo's murder.
Some even claimed that Tone Bone from NLC was charged and convicted for it, getting sentenced to 60 years. This seems very unlikely, though, because Tone Bone, whose real name is Antonio Scott, has no record of this and isn't in the Illinois prison system for that crime. There is an Antonio Scott who was arrested a month after Lil Mo died, but that was for an armed robbery. Plus, Antonio was only 13 years old at the time, which makes the 60-year murder conviction story even harder to believe.
The murder remains a mystery. While some point to Lil, others stay convinced it was NLC. Besides that, Lil Lelay is rumored to have shot up Cirin City multiple times, robbed people from that area, and allegedly killed a member named Julian from Cirin. Since most of this happened 10 to 15 years ago, a lot of the details are uncertain. The only thing people know for a fact is that he killed Jarvis, especially since 600 Breezy openly confirmed it on Twitter.
Back in 2005, when Lil killed Jarvis from ABM at the Cirin City Party, Pocket Town and Cirin City were still in many ways cordial with each other. Some members were even cool with each other at the time. The two gangs used to organize basketball games where Cirin City would come over to the pocket to play. Fights would break out occasionally during these games. But in September 2006, things finally escalated and the real war started. On September 22nd, 2006, Pocket Town and Cirin City set up another game in Pocket Town. As I mentioned, matches were common and so were the fights, but that day was different. Kevin, Demetrius, and three others from Cirin City came over to face five guys from the pocket with a $200 bet on the winner. Three of the players for the pocket were Lille, his brother King Rico, and Cory. The game never actually finished because a dispute broke out, leading to a fight between the two groups. Shortly after the scrap started, someone from the pocket began firing shots toward Demetrius from Cirin City. Demetrius, who had his car parked right there, had to ditch it and run all the way back towards Cirin territory to save his life.
The day after the basketball game, things escalated even further. Liil Lelay was riding in traffic when a member from Cirin City ran up to his car and shot him directly in the face. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery and luckily survived the shooting, though he lost sight in his left eye.
The person rumored to have shot him was a stone from Outlaw City named Lil Mo.
People say he was basically a send off.
Outlaw City gave him a gun and told him he had to go handle it. Lil Mo is still alive today and is rumored to have left the gang life behind. Lil brother, King Rico, visited him in the hospital where Lei likely told him exactly what happened. The very next day, September 24th, 2006, Rico took revenge on the Cirin City gangsters by killing a member named Damian. Damian Kendricks was shot and killed in an alley near 76th in Dorchester. Witnesses reported seeing four men in hoodies running from the scene with guns. Out of those four, only Rico Clark was convicted and sentenced to 55 years in prison. The witnesses who pointed him out were Kevin and Demetrius from Cirin City. According to those witnesses, the other three at the scene were Bod, Cello, and Cory from Pocket Town. One witness even claimed Cory was shooting alongside King Rico, but Cory was never convicted for the murder.
Cello, Bod, Corey, Lil, and King Rico were the main ones from the pocket, putting in the most work back then.
Today, three of them are locked up for murder, one is set to get out in 2030, and one is dead.
Demetrius from Cirin City has a reputation as a notorious snitch. And it's pretty clear the Cirss don't claim him anymore, if they even did back then.
Years after he told on King Rico, Demetrius ended up in prison himself in 2016.
While locked up, his cellmate was a terror dome stone named Wright Bundi.
Bundi reportedly bragged about killing a 9-year-old boy named Taon Lee, whose father was a wellrespected killer war GD. Demetrius actually recorded that conversation and testified against him in court. There are even allegations that the boy's father eventually took revenge on BBG, which is a story for another time. As for King Rico, despite being sentenced to 55 years, he has maintained his innocence this entire time. He told injustice watch during a prison phone call that it's always on his mind why he's locked up since he claims he had nothing to do with it. An investigation into his case found several red flags common and wrongful convictions like police coercion, witnesses taking back their statements, and a weak legal defense. Even Lil Lei, who is now 33, claims his innocence regarding some of his legal trouble, and there seems to be some truth to it. Back in 2009, Lily and some younger Pocket Town members were involved in a shootout. The younger members were all arrested, but Lil Lilay stepped up and took the fall for them so they wouldn't get hit with heavy time. Those shorties only got four years each, while Ail Lelay was hit with 24 years on two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. He was given two consecutive 12-ear sentences and isn't scheduled for release until 2030. Taking that kind of time for the younger generation is a major reason why Lili is so respected in Pocket Town and across the whole East Side.
Getting back to the timeline, two years after Damian from Cirin City was killed in 2006, the Cirs took their revenge on Pocket Town. They killed 16-year-old Lil Pez, also known as Lil Paris from Eblock/Pocket Town. Paris Basset was walking early on a Monday morning on the 1,300 block of East 72nd Street when someone crept up and shot him in the head. Police found him dead on the sidewalk. Paris was a beloved member of the East Side and both East End and Pocket Town eventually adopted the nickname Lil Pez City to honor him.
Ironically, his death sparked a whole new conflict. While both sets claim LPC, Liil Pez had actually left Pocket Town to run with East End right before he was killed. This caused a lot of tension because many Pocket Town members were bitter about him leaving, which started the initial drift between Pocket Town and East End. Years later, after Pocket Town killed Lil Greg from NLMB in 2021, East End officially cut ties with them because several East End members had grown up with Greg. But looking back at the start of the beef with the Circs, the lines were drawn because Cirin City saw East End praising and claiming a member from their most hated rivals. On the flip side, East End saw Cirin City as the ones who murdered their brother.
Nearly everything between Cirin and East End traces back to the day Lopez was killed. However, there is more to it which we will come to later in the story.
This my man Lopez right here. Stop walking on my man. RIP Lopez. You feel me? Pocket time crazy.
>> Know what it is. L man.
>> All right. Take it to my name right here. This my name right here.
>> This my name right here.
>> Tone, man.
>> You see me right behind him right here.
[ __ ] tone right here. Look, stand by your [ __ ] man. Stand by your [ __ ] >> Make a pocket on me.
>> Yeah. You know, hit go to the CTC artist right here. We got to get the artist. We got to get the artist.
>> Look, she killing it myself. Look who I say. Re. That's Re. That's my [ __ ] right there.
Come on.
>> My fault.
>> See that big ass PTC?
>> Yeah.
Oh my great.
Just two months after the murder of Lil Paris, Cirin City struck again in a way that fundamentally changed the nature of the conflict. This time, the victim was a girl named Shilia Taylor, better known as Queen Lady Shaw. Lady Shaw was from ABM and claimed 4CH, but she had deep family ties and close friendships with Pocket Town members. She was walking with a friend on the 6,900 block of South Dorchester to visit her grandmother for Memorial Day weekend when a Chevy Monte Carlo pulled up an open fire. Lady Shaw was hit and later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. While there had been bodies dropped before this, the murder of Lady Shaw is widely considered the true point of no return for the war between Pocket Town and Cirin City. Before this, the violence was often viewed as personal beefs between specific individuals.
After Lady Sha was killed, it became a full-blown gang war on site for any member of the opposing set, regardless of who they were. The reason for this is because Lady Shaw was Lil brother. Many believe the Cirs hitting Lady Shaw was a mistake, but it was one of many tragic errors that fueled the cycle of violence. It's a grim history. I've heard accounts from members on both sides claiming that crates of weapons would suddenly appear on the streets, leading to suspicions that authorities were intentionally fueling the fire.
This was also a generation that grew up seeing extreme police brutality from a young age.
After the murder, Lady Sha's friends gathered at the spot where she was gunned down to pray and comfort one another. She was remembered as a loyal, fun-loving friend who stayed out of trouble. Her principal at Dunbar Palaski, Michael Collins, and her coach, Mary, spoke about how devastating it was to see an eighth grader, a popular athlete with her whole life ahead of her, taken so suddenly. It's a tragedy that highlights the adult dangers kids in the area are forced to navigate.
While it is widely known that the Cirin City gangsters were behind the shooting, it's also understood that Lady Shaw was not the intended target. She had reportedly snuck out of her house that night to hang out with guys from Chestnut/Zoland, putting her in the wrong place at the wrong time. In her honor, Pocket Town adopted the nickname Shaw City. The deaths of Lil Peasant Lady Shaw acted like gasoline on a fire for the entire east side. As the bodies continued to drop between the Cirs and Pocket Town, the landscape shifted. This era saw the formation of Gotti World after KTS Vun and Spook from Pocket Town allegedly killed Gotti from 8 by13.
Revenge remained the driving force. A pocket town member named Jerry was later shot by Cirin City in retaliation for their losses, though he was fortunate enough to survive the hit.
After the murder of Booby Stone by Cello and Bod in 2010 and the subsequent death of Gotti for Mate by 13, hell really broke loose for Pocket Town. Circin City was on a mission for revenge and refused to let up, leading to a devastating month where the pocket lost three members. Shorty DWOP, Corey, also known as CEO and Moose from LPC. Shorty DWOP, whose real name was Rashard Wilson, was shot and killed on May 22nd, 2012 in the 7,000 block of South Perry Avenue in Englewood. While police reported it as a shooting by an armed robber who hit him in the back, the streets widely believed Cirin City was behind it. But others believe that it was Tay City that was responsible and that it happened during a dice game. Shorty Doo [ __ ] was a significant figure because he wasn't just another name on the block. He was a mentor who worked with the Southshore drill team to give kids an alternative to the streets. His mother and sister remembered him as a happy golucky family man who was devoted to his four-year-old daughter. He was also a growing force in the music industry, managing artists like Duke to Beast and Esot from 600, the latter of whom still pays homage to him today. Despite his positive influence, he became the casualty in this brutal cycle of violence, and the specific shooter from Circin City remains unknown.
Now, we've come to a major turning point in this story, the murder of Cory, also known as CEO, from Pocket Town. There has always been a lot of mystery surrounding why Cory wasn't charged alongside King Rico for the Damian murder and why he was killed so shortly after his release. Cory Manuel was shot and killed on May 27th, 2012 in Harvey and was pronounced dead early that morning at Advocate Christ Medical Center. The truth is that Cory beat the 2006 murder case not by snitching, but simply because he had a better lawyer than King Rico. While Rico was sentenced to 55 years, Cory walked free in 2012, but his freedom was short-lived. The person who actually shot Cory was a man from Harvey, and the motive was allegedly personal. Cory had reportedly been hooking up with the man's girlfriend. While many believe Cirin City was behind the hit, it's more likely a mix of both worlds, as my sources say the shooter from Harvey had ties to the Cirs. For a long time, rumors swirled that high-ranking pocket town members like He-Man and Teemo Teimmo killed Cory on orders from King Rico and Lil Reed from behind bars.
However, that's impossible. Teotimo had already been killed by Killer Ward in April 201, and Eman was at a club when Cory was murdered. Cory's death remains one of the most debated moments in the timeline because of how the personal beef in Harvey intersected with the larger gang war.
As many of you know, Cory remained a highly respected member despite the rumors, and Pocket Town adopted the nickname Corey Town to honor his memory, a name most members still claim to this day. Many people might wonder why they would claim Cory Town if he was allegedly a snitch or allegedly killed by his own people. When Cory was murdered, there were small internal conflicts brewing, but many members didn't even know the older generation might have been involved. A lot of them firmly believed the Cirin City gangsters were responsible. Furthermore, many simply did not believe the snitching allegations, which is why Corey Town remains a staple of their identity. The whole situation is incredibly complicated because during the 2010 to 2012 era, Pocket Town moved like the mob with real structure and leadership.
Lily, Jamar, King Rico, and Lilant were the ones in charge, and they essentially bullied the older members, even forcing some of them to move around. After Cory was gone, that specific core group, Aunt, Jamar, Rico, and Lei, officially took over the pocket. The shift was so intense that some of the older guys actually flipped and joined Cirin City.
This was also around the time the new breed came from out west. And through that connection, Pocket Town started making a lot of money. Most people claiming Cory Town today are aware of the old allegations. But since this was the era before social media made everything public, many chose to look past the rumors to honor him and his family. Of course, the theory about internal hits is still speculation. It could very well be that Cirin City was behind it all along. You have to decide for yourself which version of history you believe.
Just a month later, Moose from LPC, Pocket Town, was killed. He was gunned down by Hollywood from Circin City.
However, the murder report kind of mixed statements which made it seem like it was Pocket Town that shot him by mistake. That is false. Moose, a 16-year-old whose real name was Douglas Buffford, was shot and killed during a home invasion on the 1,400 block of East 73rd Street. He died from a shotgun wound to the back of his head. On July 25th, 2012, a few members of LPC were out playing basketball when Moose suddenly approached them and announced he was going to enemy territory to shoot someone from the Cirin Mafia. Jarl Brown and Anthony Hall, two other LPC members, told Moose they would go with him.
However, Anthony later claimed in police reports that he only followed to try and stop Moose because he was tweaking.
Instead of a straight shooting, Moose, Jarl, and Anthony headed into Cirin City territory and decided to hit a lick or commit a robbery. They targeted an apartment building on the 1,400 block of East 73rd Street where an old head from Cirin named Dondra Sharky lived. Dondra later testified that he lived in that building which was owned by his grandparents right in the middle of the ongoing war between the little Paris city and Cirin Mafia factions of the gangster disciples. He explained that Stony Island Avenue served as the boundary between the two. LPC controlled the east side while the Cirin Mafia controlled the west. Even though Donra claimed he wasn't an official member of the Cirin Mafia, he admitted he hung out with them and never dared to cross Stony Island for fear of being shot, robbed, or kidnapped.
On July 25th, 2012, Dundra was sitting in his room watching television when he looked up and saw a person whom he later identified in court as the defendant standing just a foot away from him. The defendant's face wasn't covered, but he had a blue shirt draped around his neck, holding the ends of it with his hands.
He ordered Sharky to stand up, and that's when 16-year-old Douglas Buffford entered the room carrying a revolver, wearing a red hat and a white shirt tied around his face. As Moose repeated the order to stand up, a third person appeared in the doorway holding a shotgun with a white shirt covering his face and his hair and short dreadlocks.
Dundra testified that he could also see a fourth person peering into the room from the hallway. The person with the shotgun ordered Sharky to get up and move toward the refrigerator. As Dundra stood up and started walking toward the kitchen, the shotgun suddenly discharged, striking Moose directly in the head. In the chaos, Dundra ran to his grandparents apartment for safety.
From there, he saw the person who had been holding the shotgun sprinting toward Stony Island while the defendant fled the opposite way toward the vioaduct. Tragically, Douglas Buffford, known as Moose, died from his injuries three days later. It was a botched robbery that ended in friendly fire, taking the life of one of their own right in the heart of enemy territory.
Two members were eventually charged and convicted for the murder. Jar Mali Brown and Anthony Hull from LPC. Both were hit with charges of firstdegree murder, home invasion, and burglary. Jar Mali was sentenced to 30 years, while Anthony, identified as the shooter, received 35 years. According to Dundra's testimony, Jar Ali entered the apartment first unarmed, followed by Douglas with a handgun and finally Anthony with a shotgun. While the police investigation makes this look like a tragic accident caused by poor trigger discipline, a lot of people on the streets believe there was more to it. There is a lingering theory that Jar Mali, also known as Mali, and Anthony killed Moose on purpose over a dispute involving a girl.
To many, the idea of accidentally discharging a shotgun directly into your friend's head during a high stress home invasion and then immediately bolting seems suspicious. However, there is another theory which I got from a source who said that Moose was killed by an old head named Hollywood from Cirin City which I mentioned earlier. According to my source, Hollywood followed Moose's shadow from the hallway and immediately killed him once he got a clear shot.
Moose Block was formed to honor his memory. The Pocket Town members were charged because they were responsible for the situation. The set remains incredibly close with Pocket Town to this day. Moose Block has gained a reputation as a very serious crew that has put in an immense amount of work, which is exactly where we'll pick up in part two.
This event combined with the murder of Lil Pez is exactly why Cirin City beef so heavily with East End and especially with Moose Block. In the eyes of the Cirs, Moose Block and Pocket Town are basically sibling gangs and are treated as their biggest rivals. After the botched home invasion that left Moosead, Cirin City applied immense pressure on the newly formed Moose Block. Feeling the heat, Moose Block actually called for a peace treaty. But that truce was short-lived and ended in a way that Cirin viewed as a total backdoor. The peace was shattered when Jonno from Cirin City was murdered on October 8th, 2012. Because Cirin believed the beef had been squashed, they weren't expecting an attack, which is why many consider it a betrayal. You might recognize Jonno's name because KTS Van used to mock him constantly in his music videos and on Twitter, leading many to speculate that Van was the shooter.
However, that's false. The shooter actually rumored to be behind the hit is Boleg from Moose Block. Another person was with him, but he was the only one shooting. Jonno's death was particularly gruesome. Boleg allegedly walked up to him and shot him directly in the face at close range with a shotgun just like Hollywood from Cir and killed Moose. The crime scene was reportedly horrific and by the time police arrived, Jonno was already dead. This brutal retaliation effectively ended any hope of peace and set the tone for the violent rivalry that continues to define the relationship between the Cirs and Moose Block.
The mockery of Jonno on social media was relentless following his murder. Rody Mo from Pocket Town even started printing Don't Go Jonno t-shirts while KTSvon, Lil Mista, Spook, Lil Polo, Reo, Denny G, and several others mocked him dozens of times on Twitter. The alleged shooter, Bole Leg is not alive today. He was killed in 2020 or 2021 allegedly by CMB. There are rumors out there that it was JJ and Jun Jun from Moose Block that was behind the murder, but according to my sources, that is false. In the wake of Jonno's death, Cirin City established Jonno World to honor his memory. The retaliation was immediate and intense with the Cirs coming through and shooting up Moose Block territory several times in the days following the murder. This cycle of extreme violence and public mockery only deepened the divide between the sets, ensuring the war would continue for years to come.
After Moose Block was established, the broader East End Alliance began to take shape. While I used the term earlier for simplicity, it's important to understand exactly what this alliance looks like today. East End is a powerhouse coalition consisting of four primary sets. Get a World and Moose Block who claim 4CH, Malttown, who claim GD, and Gooop Gang/TD who claim BPS. It should be noted that while TTD isn't officially East End, they are so tightly knit with the other sets and share the same enemies that they are effectively part of the same movement. Cirin City finds itself in a brutal position, beefing with every single gang under the East End umbrella.
The most intense blood has been spilled between the Cirs Moose Block and Maul Town located from 67th to 68th and East End to Cornell Drive with multiple bodies dropped on both sides. This conflict is genuinely one of the bloodiest in Chicago history. Yet, it's rarely discussed with the depth it deserves. Another thing that stung Cirin's eyes very much was that an older member from Cirin City, Brian, flipped side and became a member and in the end one of the leaders of East End. Brian was the father of Nch from LPC/ East End who was killed in 2022 by Cirin City.
What makes Cirin City's story particularly wild is that they were and still are largely standing alone in these wars against all their surrounding neighbors. They are fighting on multiple fronts against an entire alliance in Pocket Town simultaneously.
We are going to dive much deeper into this in part two, picking up right from the aftermath of Jonno's death because that is when the beef between Maul Town, Moose Block, Pocket Town, and Circin City truly exploded.
Before we wrap up this video, it's worth highlighting the music culture within Cirin City. One of their most prominent rappers was Q Storm, who put out solid tracks alongside other Cir rappers like Chris G. Unfortunately, Q Storm's journey was cut short when he was shot and killed by a security complex employee in 2010. Another key figure was Jod Boy, an older member who acted as the bridge between the old and new generations. However, after surviving several assassination attempts, Jod Boy reportedly stepped away from the streets to focus on his family. Then there is Jojo Capone. Although he is originally from Cirin, he now claims global gangsters and manages to stay above the fry. Despite the brutal war between his original set and Pocket Town, he remains on good terms with Pocket Town OGs like Gunsmoke. Jojo is a legendary figure, an OG GD with massive industry connections who provided muscle for some of the biggest names in hip hop, including the game, Dipset, Mayo, Bad Boy, and Cash Money. His reputation was so solid that the game even shouted him out on 300 bars and running, referencing a time Jojo helped recover a stolen Gunit chain in Chicago. It just goes to show how deep the roots of these neighborhoods go, stretching from local street wars all the way to the top of the music industry. We've covered a lot of ground today, but this is only the beginning.
Part two is coming soon and we'll be diving straight into the incidents that followed the deaths of Jonno and Moose.
Stay tuned.
