Successful thrift store reselling requires strategic sourcing, including visiting stores at closing time to find hidden gems, recognizing high-value brands like Champion reverse weave, Nike, and vintage labels, and understanding that items with unique features (such as paint splatter on carpenter pants or heavy-duty work boots) often command premium resale prices despite appearing damaged.

Thrifting After Dark… and Someone Took My Find | Thrift HaulAdded:
Is there anything good at Goodwill in the last 30 minutes? I'm here and it is closing right now. Let's get in there and see what we can find to flip for a profit.
Hey and welcome back to the Flip Factory. I'm Trent and in today's video I tried something that I haven't really tried before. I went to a Goodwill right as it was closing, not like closing down for good, but like closing for the night um and got there in the last 30 minutes and looked to see what I could find to flip for a profit. I'm a full-time reseller. I sell clothing and shoes mostly, but I'll flip anything I can find especially now during garage sale season. Hopefully we'll have a video coming out soon with some garage sales in it. But mostly I sell clothing and shoes on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop and I use Nifty to cross list through all of those platforms. We're going to go through all the items that I found. They're actually right here in this pile. Um found some pretty good stuff for it being just like closing time. Usually like for almost all of my sourcing that I do, I like to be like the first one to get to Goodwill um and so I wanted to see what it was like to be like the last one to be at Goodwill.
But before we get into today's haul, a word from today's sponsor, Brevo. If you're running a reselling business, a small brand, or really any business at all, you know how overwhelming marketing can be. Emails, texts, customers' messages, it all adds up really fast.

Check it out in the link below and a big thanks to Brevo for sponsoring today's video. Now, let's get back to it. I had something happen that I haven't had happen in a long time. I I has happened to me before, but I haven't I can't remember the last time it has happened. Um I had thrown a pair of shoes into my cart um and when I thrift I kind of go from my cart over to the like the big rack and I search through it not really looking back in my cart.
And when I came back to my cart I didn't realize it at the time, but someone had taken the pair of shoes that I had found, but I'll talk about that in just a second. On my way to the Goodwill that was closing for the night, I stopped at a little boutique. They were having a 20% off sale. So I stopped in just to see what was there. It's a tiny little room um not a great sourcing spot, but I had a little bit of time. I didn't want to get to the closing Goodwill too early. Uh so I stopped at this boutique and shopped for a second and actually found three things. So I'm going to go over those right now. First thing I found at this little place were these brand new with tags Dickies Sherwin Williams like carpenter paint pants. Never really sold these before. These are new with tags.
It was the tag was $10, 20% off so it was eight bucks. Um these are brand new.
Let's see the size 38 by 30 so really good size.
Um and when I looked up the comps they sell for around like $30 probably is what I'll get. Um interesting fact about these, if they are not new and they are like covered in paint splatter, they actually sell for a lot more. Um I actually don't know if they sell for a lot more, but they sell a lot faster. Um it's like a Y2K uh skater look I think with the with the paint splatter on them. So be on the lookout for those. They'll look like garbage probably because they'll just be covered in paint, but if you can find them with paint on them, pick them up um especially if they're cheap. $8 a little pricey for like the stuff that I pick up, but to flip it into 30, not bad at all. Next piece I found at that boutique were these Steven Barris new with tags carpenter pants. Um these are very baggy, very like wide leg. Um definitely will add the Y2K skater terminology into the uh listing title. Um as you can see these were also $10 with 20% off so eight bucks. They basically price all their new jeans all new paint all new stuff at that place for $10 so um there's the tag Steven Barris carpenter pants as you can see there.
Um these aren't I mean they're not like an an amazing find, but they'll sell for probably 30 bucks as well. So good pick up. Next up is a brand I've never found before. It's Avirex and it's also new with tags and also $10 so with 20% off $8. There's the tag there that you can see Avirex. Um really cool like embroidery stitching on the back. It's like I don't even know an eagle and is it a dragon? Yeah, a dragon and an eagle. Um these the MSRP on them is $55, but when I search them they sell new with tags on eBay for around that $55.
This exact model actually one just sold for around $70. Um so here's the tab.
Pretty cool looking tab. Um not easy to miss at all. When I found this I was like this this has to be cool. So I don't know what I'm going to price this at. Probably 50 bucks maybe maybe 60 just to see if I can get it a taker for it. That one that sold for 70 might have been an outlier random, but we'll see what we can get out of it.
Nonetheless, $8 turning it into probably 50 to $60, great flip.
All right, we're going to get into the Goodwill finds now. When I got there there was like no one in the parking lot. Usually this Goodwill is absolutely slammed just so busy.
So that was really cool about getting there late. However, they also had no new racks out. So that was a definite negative, definite con to listing or to thrifting that late.
Was there was no new racks out so I couldn't hit anything before the rest of the resellers hit them for the day.
First thing I found and I didn't get any video of it, but this is a Tommy Bahama linen shirt. This was actually in the women's section as I was rolling by. I usually hit the shoes first. And so on my way to the shoes I found this Tommy Bahama linen shirt. This is a men's large long sleeve. This will sell really well right now going into uh vacation time and everything.
Uh if this was short sleeve it'd be even better. Here's the little is it a sailfish or I don't know what it is or a marlin? I'm not sure, but there's a little hit. Um probably like 25 bucks. Everything at this Goodwill is $4.99 except for jeans and shoes they are $6.99. I get a lot of comments on my videos about how lucky we are here in Charlotte to have the Goodwills that we have, the pricing that we have, and I wanted to say I know like we're super lucky. I don't know what I would do if they were pricing jeans at $30 like I hear a lot of people out in like Oregon and California.
Hopefully they stay cheap. I have a feeling in the near future we're going to be going to a different pricing structure. I'm really hoping that they don't, but I mean it's going to come just like we know USPS is going to raise prices twice a year, sometimes three times a year, Goodwill's going to raise their prices too. So I know it's coming. Not looking forward to it, but in the meantime we'll thrift as much as we can at these lower prices. All right, the next item that I found was actually the Solomon shoes that I'm showing on the screen right now.
These were a great pick up. They were in good condition, good treads. I footage from like my my thrift haul, I noticed that they were in my cart before the men's shoes were ever in there and then when I go back and look at the the men's shoes the uh I put two pairs of men's shoes in my cart and there was no pair of women's shoes. I don't know why I just didn't didn't notice it, but I didn't notice it and didn't even realize it until I was like on the way home and I started replaying in my mind putting the stuff into the van and I don't remember seeing those shoes.
Um so I don't know what happened, but they're gone. I know I didn't leave them in the cart because I even like took my buggy outside when I was done. And when I did that I grabbed everything. I didn't take my buggy all the way to the car or to the car so I know I didn't have the shoes then so. Let me know in the comments if that's ever happened to you if someone has stolen something out of your cart. I have caught people before like going through my cart.
Usually it's because I have such a pile there. They think that I'm like an employee of the store and so they're going through the cart because they think I'm putting those items back out.
So this time though someone grabbed it right out of my car cart. Who knows if it was of mal intent or if it was just they thought I was a worker. I don't know.
Let me know in the comments if that's happened to you and what's been stolen out of your carts. I found two pairs of men's shoes. These first are just Keen work boots. These are in pretty good condition. Just a little dirty. I'll clean them up, but the treads were in great condition as you can see there.
These are steel toe. I didn't know or maybe even maybe just composite toe, but these will be great. I didn't even look up the comps. I'm not expecting crazy money, but for $6.99 should be able to flip them for a good profit. Next pair is a bolo brand. I've never found this before. These are called DieHard shoes and these things are heavy. I didn't realize These things are heavy. I didn't realize heavy these things were. What does it say? Oil resistant, non-marking, cushioned insole, Diehard uh sure track.
So, when I looked them up in Goodwill, sure track was definitely the key there.
Um these are in great condition, just a little dirty. I'll clean up the soles and the leather a little bit. Um but I'm actually going to go over really quick and see what these things weigh because these are ridiculous. All right, I'm checking the weight on these things cuz they are just insanely heavy. 4 lb 4 oz for this pair of shoes. Crazy. These are men's size 12D, which is a wide size, which makes it even better. Um these will sell for really good money. I'll throw the comp up there. Um and for $6.99, a no-brainer. All right, we're going to get into some clothes now. This is a brand that you have to be very picky with. This is Champion. Um however, this is reverse weave. You can kind of see the material and how it's a a thicker, heavier material. Champion reverse weave is almost always a pickup if it's the right price. Uh this is a men's large blue. And then you just want to make sure there's no stains. Um probably more often than not, I find stains on Champion reverse weave hoodies. Uh but I pick these up all day and these will sell for around 25 to 30 bucks.
So, hoodies at my Goodwill are $4.99.
And then like full zip jackets and big heavy jackets are anywhere from $6.99 to $9.99. Next one is a bread and butter pickup. This is a Nike hoodie. Um I would not pick this up if it was used, but since it is new with tags, I picked it up. Um they had this out in the normal rack, which is kind of crazy. I think they probably did that just because it's not really hoodie season anymore here in Charlotte. Um it's already gotten up into like the low 90s.
So, uh this is a men's large blue Nike Therma-FIT. Uh MSRP on this is 60 bucks.
I'll probably sell it for around 30.
Next two items are not really bolo brands. Um I used to pick these up all the time. They've definitely fallen off, but these are uh mail reg. These are like golf polos. The only reason I picked these up is because they were right next to each other. They were men's extra large, both of them, and they both have really cool designs. This first one is kind of like a super colorful Aztec design. Um these uh I saw sell for around 20 to 25 bucks. Um and I paid $4.99 each. So, I'll lot these up.
This is a really cool like a plant design or like a tropical leaf design. I don't know what you'd call that, but uh really nice designs on them. That's why I picked them up. Um they should sell as a lot for around 40 to 50 dollars. And I paid 10 bucks for both of them. So, not bad. Okay, this next item is something that resellers skip all the time and I love selling it. This is Roundtree & York. Not the best brand. However, these are new with tags, which make it better.
And these are the Travel Smart line. So, these are just suit pants. Um I did go over and look for the suit jacket, could not find it. These are 38 by 36, so they're uh men's big and tall. Um they are new with tags, kind of a a cuffed bottom. Um and I believe is it pleated on the front? Yeah, these are pleated, so uh these will sell for good money, $4.99. This is just an easy pickup. This will sell for 25 to 30 bucks. And a great item to be on the lookout for as they're on the rack a lot of times just because people don't want to pick up Roundtree & York or pleated stuff or suit pants, honestly. So, be on the lookout. These are an easy quick flip.
All right, we've got two items left that I found for this thrift haul. These are Lucky Brand Vintage women's bootcut jeans. Um you can see this tab here. Um I hardly ever find like women's jeans or uh women's Lucky Brand jeans with this kind of a super vintage tab. These are made in the USA. Um you can see here, Lucky Brand size four. Uh made in America. These are uh like a low rise flare on the bottom. I've never found that that kind of a bottom before, like that kind of a hem. Um but pretty cool.
Definitely will sell fast with it being vintage Lucky Brand. These were $6.99.
Our jeans are a little bit more expensive, $6.99. And these will probably sell for 25 bucks. So, great pickup. And we saved the best for last.
This is a brand I've never found before.
Really cool. Uh this is a women's Rule 925.
Rule and then it's like number 925, if you can see there. Um I don't think I've ever found this brand before, maybe I have. Uh but this is like a really cool western brand. Um these are low rise bootcut jeans. These were an easy pickup and for $6.99. And these should sell for like 35 to 40 bucks, I think is what I saw. Um I'll throw the comp up on the screen. I try to get my comps as accurate as possible. Um I I don't ever take the highest and I don't take the lowest. I try to go right in the middle. Um I usually price anywhere like in the middle high area just to try to, you know, I might ask for the the highest price on stuff. Um but I'm trying to I'm trying to move product, too. So, um I throw up the comp of what I'll most likely list them at. And then usually they sell from anywhere around that price to like 15 to 20% below because Nifty sends offers automatically on my behalf. So, usually when I throw up a comp like that, it sells for right around that price minus 10 to 20% of that price. These Rule 925, really good brand, really good pickup. Um especially the men's. These are women's, so they don't sell for as much, but if you find some men's jeans, the western wear there uh sells really well for a lot of money.
That does it for today's thrift haul. Um I really was not disappointed with what I found in the last 30 minutes of a store being open. Um still was able to find really good stuff. Um so, I'll have to experiment with this more, go to some more stores. This is a store closer to my house. Um so, I'll have to branch out and see what I can find at other stores right as they're closing. It was a fun little challenge. Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas for challenges or videos for me to do in the future. I love doing them. Make sure you check out Brevo. The link with more information is in the description. Thank you so much for watching. Don't forget to hit like and subscribe. It supports our channel and we'll see you in the next one.
