[00:06:03]Now they were on the way >> [music] >> ascending to Jerusalem and Jesus went before them.

[00:06:11]And following they were afraid.

[00:06:14]And again [music] taking aside the 12, he began to tell them the things that would happen to him. Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem and the Son of Man will be handed over to the leaders of the priests [music] and to the scribes and elders.

[00:06:27]And they will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles.

[00:06:31]And they will mock him and spit on [music] him and scourge him and kill him.

[00:06:36]And on the third day he will rise again.

[00:07:01]But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking.

[00:07:05]Are you able to drink the chalice that I drink >> [music] >> or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?"

[00:07:13]But they said to him, "We are able."

[00:07:17]Then Jesus said to them, "Indeed, you shall drink the chalice that I drink and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized.

[00:07:26]But to sit at my right or left is not mine to give to you, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared."

[00:07:33]And the 10 upon hearing this began to be indignant toward James and John.

[00:07:39]But Jesus calling them said to them, "You know that those who seem to be leaders of the Gentiles lord it over them >> [music] >> and their superiors exercise authority over them.

[00:07:52]Instead, whoever would become greater shall be your minister.

[00:07:57]And whoever would be first among you shall be the servant of all.

[00:08:35]We are drawn to greatness, but we often misunderstand what it truly means.

[00:08:41]There is an interior struggle between pride and humility.

[00:08:45]Like James and John, we may seek importance or validation.

[00:08:50]We may want to be seen, appreciated, or placed above others.

[00:08:54]This desire can quietly shape our decisions, even in our spiritual life.

[00:09:01]Jesus responds by revealing the heart of the Father.

[00:09:05]True greatness is not about being above others, but about serving them.

[00:09:11]Whoever would [music] be first among you shall be the servant of all.

[00:09:15]This turns our understanding upside down.

[00:09:18]Greatness is measured not by power, but by love expressed in service.

[00:09:24]The first reading deepens [music] this truth.

[00:09:28]We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.

[00:09:31]This means our lives are not our own. We are called to live differently.

[00:10:19]He does not only teach about service, he lives it fully, even to the point of giving his life. [music] This reveals that love is not passive, but sacrificial.

[00:10:32]Because the deeper truth is this, greatness in God's kingdom is not about rising above others, but about lowering ourselves in love.

[00:10:42]And when we serve as Christ served, we begin to reflect the very heart of God.

[00:10:53]Let's pray.

[00:10:56]Lord Jesus, you have shown us that true greatness is found in service.

[00:11:02]Help us to follow your example and to live with humility and love.

[00:11:07]Remove from our hearts all pride and guide us to serve others with sincerity.
