First drive on Tesla FSD V14.3.1 (new behavior)Added:
Hey everybody, Sor Mered here back with another FSD video.
We're uh testing FSD version 14.3.1.
Just downloaded it. And this will be a first drive. I'm going to try to do the sort of the same route as I did on the 14.3 video just to compare. Um I did feel like 14.3 needed a little bit of polish. It was almost there, I think, and almost ready for wider release. So, we'll see if this version is is a little bit polished up.
So, we're going to head on the highway.
I'll keep it in Mad Max mode for now.
We'll see how it does in the highway.
I'll probably uh speed up the highway bits a bit, but you'll still be able to see what the lane change behavior is if it still hugs the left lane a bit on MadMax mode. And I'll bring it down to hurry and standard. See what that's all about, too.
Release notes are the same. No change there.
One thing I did notice on this uh 1431 version is the new little parking pin indicator.
You can now click on that and it'll bring up the different parking options up on the left here.
You can still do that if you click up here anyways, but that's just just another way to bring them up. So, that's one change so far from uh 143 Oh, is it going to get in the left here?
Yep.
I wonder if it'll get over to the right once it gets around this blue car.
Probably not, but we'll see.
So, this is new. Like, it's not Oh, maybe it's slowly climbing up to 85, but there's no one ahead of me.
Typically, it would go right up to 85.
So perhaps a little bit more conservative.
Yeah, this seems like a new behavior.
It would always hit 85 for me here on Mad Max mode. It's still hugging the left lane.
Um, but it's not going to 85.
Hit 81, but it seems to want to hover around 80.
Interesting.
So, let's see what happens if I bring it down to hurry.
I didn't notice any change there in terms of braking.
Huh.
Still staying in the left.
Let's bring it down to standard.
Yep. Right over to the right. All right. So, let me bring it back up to Mad Max and see if it'll go 85.
Oh, looks like we got a detour.
So, this does seem different to me, which I like. I I personally Mad Max is my favorite mode, but because on the highway it would go up to 85, I would typically just stick to hurry, which would top out at 80.
But I would like the lane selection of MadMax.
And this does not seem to be going above 80.
I like it.
All right, I'm going to skip ahead here and uh we'll continue on the offramp.
Heat. Heat.
All right. Okay. So, a couple things to note. It did uh get up to about 82 83 at one point, but despite the open road and no one ahead of me, it still didn't touch 85, which again is is a new behavior. It would on my drive uh to this area, it would consistently hit 85 and just stay there, hug the left lane.
And notice that about two two and a half miles before uh this off-ramp, it changed lanes to the right, to the middle lane, and then to the far right lane. So it it prepared a lot sooner to get off than it typically does, which which I like because older versions of FSD, more specifically version 142, it would kind of wait till the last second um to get to prepare to get to the offramp. And so this is a lot more comfortable, prepares sooner.
This definitely feels more polished.
All right. So, again, we're going to go to the parking garage. I just dropped a pin on it.
We'll see what it does. And then I'll go back to that Market Basket parking lot that we went to last time.
bugs.
Got to clean that windshield.
I love how quickly 143 just jumps off the line from stop signs and stop lights.
Mad Max mode the reaction time is you know the release notes say 20% quicker reaction times in 143. You definitely feel that like I' I've encountered twice now in the last few days where there was a car pulling out into the road and before I could even like think that it was happening, 143 just put on the brakes, avoided any collision.
It's a level of reaction that a human just can't do.
All right. So, you'll notice the see right here the parking garage the P you can now click on and it'll bring up all these different parking selections.
So, let's see if it goes into the garage. Sometimes it likes to take a left.
Nice.
Right into the garage.
And it's going to back in.
Notice how quickly it backs up, too.
Very confident.
Perfect parking job.
All right, let's go to the market basket.
Come on.
nice older Model X. Actually, since my last FSD video, Tesla did announce the very last batch of the Model S and X being built called the Signature Editions. 100 signature Model X's, I think, and 250 Model S's.
Um 160,000 one price. Comes with a garnet red paint.
Few other trim bits and visual differences.
One final goodbye.
It sounds like they might hold a special delivery event, too. Sort of a goodbye ceremony, so to speak, uh, next month.
Not sure where it's going to be, but we'll see.
So again, you can hit the parking lot button or rather the P and then you can change your parking selections. But again, you don't need to do that. You could just tap this and get into it.
dude. That is some nasty bug splatter on the windshield.
I got to clean that.
Oh, actually another thing I've noticed such I mean this kind of h started to happen with the later versions of 142, but I've also noticed in 143 uh there's almost never any camera wipes. Like I used to have consistent camera wipes, Robbo taxi style camera cleanings rather. Um, and those have really been reduced, which is good because it was just blowing through my windshield wiper fluid. Uh, and most of the time it wasn't really necessary.
So, it seems like there's definitely been an improvement on that with 143.
Oh, got a person walking here.
So far so good.
Another thing different with 143, it turns on the blinker turn signals a lot later.
14 uh two would turn them on quite early, whether whether on the highway or somewhere else.
This is a much more comfortable way to do it.
Perfect.
Nice. All right.
Now, let's see. I'm gonna go to crumble.
So, remember last time we I put in crumble and then it went around this whole grocery store. So, let's see if it does it again.
Yeah. So, it looks like it is taking that route. So, let's just see what happens. We'll do it anyways.
Seems like there's still some navigation stuff to work out because the ideal way would take half as long if it went to the right here.
Also, 143 did have a and I I've seen this from the other early access testers, um occasional minor instances of uh brake stabbing, but I haven't felt any on this drive.
All right. So, we're still going to go around the the grocery store.
I have a feeling there's a big update coming in the down the line or relatively near future that is going to improve navigation and thinking and reasoning and all that stuff a lot. Um to where stuff like this wouldn't really be an issue anymore.
Oh, that's interesting. No, blinker.
Little off center there.
Yeah, that was interesting. I don't know if I'd seen no blinker before.
All right, let's go to uh I like to go to over here.
The Chipotle.
Yeah, it's on the line.
Which so is that car?
Wait, did I put in the wrong Huh? That was weird.
All right, let me put that in again.
Okay, let's try that again.
We're going to go to I'll just drop a pen actually because I want to see if it'll park in that area.
That was a fine parking job. Look at this one. Even that they're on the line, too.
What's with all these cars?
Well, by this instance in the last video, I already had one break stabbing episode. So, this whole drive definitely seems better. It's just the navigation stuff really. and I guess that one parking instance, but parking park parking is rarely an issue for me on FSD.
Auto park overall I think is still better.
Um, it's only like occasionally where it's just slightly off center in the space.
kid with a scooter.
Nice. So, it went around that kid there.
He stayed on the pavement there and I felt it being cautious.
So, the P indicator is showing up at almost every location that we choose.
Now, in the last video, it only showed up sometimes.
D. Look how quickly it pulled in.
Nice. Sorry, I had to go do a couple things running and stuff. So, we're gonna go to Target now and then we'll call it a day.
right off the line.
Wait till you guys feel MadMax on 143.
It's It's It definitely feels more responsive, quicker off the line.
harder acceleration.
All things that I like, but interestingly a little more conservative on the highway.
Also something I like.
All right, this is going to be sort of a long red light. Let me skip ahead.
All right.
Notice how on MadMax FS is like the first car off the line every time.
So, we're just going to go to the parking lot and then we'll uh call it a video.
See if we can make this light.
It's deciding.
Good. I'm glad I went.
All right. So, this is again an example of the navigation is I don't think people are supposed to go down this way to target.
Yeah, we'll work that out again. I think once like the reasoning stuff comes in more can can read even more signs that'll be worked out.
It's a tough It's a tough problem to solve and I got to commend the Tesla team on just continuing to iterate on this tough problem.
All right, there we go. Thanks everyone for tuning in. Try to upload this as quick as I can and uh I'll see you on X.
Take care.
