Let's continue solving this math problem. So here is the denominator. We multiply 1* 8, which is 8. And so I write 8 under the fraction bar. Now we need to figure out the numerator. So we're subtracting 56 - 25.

[00:03:32]So 6 - 5 is 1. 5 - 2 is 3. So we have a numerator 31 over 8 and that can't that cannot be broken down further. So this is your answer. 31 over8 is called an improper fraction answer. Next, we're going to use the long division to figure out the oops mixed number answer and the decimal answer.

[00:04:07]So here I'll write 31 over8 and here and here I am going to write the mixed number answer and here I I'm going to write the decimal answer. So, here's the long division symbol.

[00:04:24]Looks pretty. And the 31 goes inside the long division symbol. That is called the dividend. And the eight goes outside the long division symbol. That is called the divisor. How many times can eight fit into 31? H. Well, I know that 8 times 8 times 8 * 3 is 24 and that's getting close to 31. So it must be 8 * 4.

[00:05:01]8 * 4 = 32. So it goes over one. So this can't be it. So we are going to write this three up here. So it'll be three. And then we multiply 3 * 8. So 3 * a is 24 and then we subtract 31 minus 24. So I'm going to use a different marker. So we need to borrow. So this becomes two.

And if you like to go back to your improper fraction, all you have to do is multiply this 3 * 8 uh sorry 8 * 3 same thing. 8 * 3 is 24 and you add seven and you'll get 31 and then you keep the denominator as 8. [00:07:42]Bring it down. Give it to the six. Now the six becomes 60. And how many times can eight fit into 60? H. Well, I know that 8 * 7 is 56, right? Because 8 * 8 is 64, right? So that's that goes 4 over 60.

[00:08:10]And so and this is 56. It's the closest we'll get to 60. So we write the seven up here. So be seven up there. And then 7 time 8 is 56.

[00:08:24]And and 60 minus 56 is four. How many times can 8 fit into how many times can eight fit into four? You can't. So um you have to the four needs to borrow another z.
