Obsession (2026), directed by Curry Barker and starring Indie Navarete, is an indie horror-comedy film about a hopeless romantic who makes a mysterious wish to win his crush's heart, only to discover that some desires come at a dark, sinister price. The film balances drama and comedy effectively, with Navarete delivering a standout performance that plays the possessed character as a victim rather than a villain. With a $750,000 budget grossing over $16 million, the movie represents a significant success for indie filmmakers and is expected to become a cult classic. The reviewer compares its tone and atmosphere to Hereditary, noting it gets under the audience's skin through grounded, unsettling moments rather than relying solely on jump scares.

WINGSTOP MUKBANG Eating Spicy Chicken Tenders & Cheesy Voodoo Fries | Obsession - Movie ReviewAdded:
What is up, guys? Welcome back to another video today. Today, I'm actually really looking forward to this episode because one, we're gonna have Wings Stop, which is one of my favorite wing places, and I haven't done it in a while. I think the last time I did it for it was for Sinners, and we're going to be reviewing Obsession. Yes. Oh, lots to talk about there. This one has got me over the moon. I am I can't wait to dive into that to the food and with the movie. But, all right, I got some tenders. I usually don't get tenders from Wingstop. I usually get bone in traditional kind of guy, you know. And I got some voodoo fries. And I got a chicken sandwich. Look. Can you see?
It's the original like hot. And for the tenders, I got like I think Oh, it was six pieces. Three mango bananto and three what is it? The Korean barbecue hot. Yeah, I got that one. And you got to get the of course. Yeah, y'all know I got to get the ranch. Y'all know y'all know.
But uh before we start talking about the movie, you already know we got to dive in. We got to dive in right now. All right. This right here is my swag. You already remember the song. This right here is my swag. Oh, girl. Sorry, I'm getting off topic already, guys. You already know when I when I start doing these videos, when I start when I'm hyped like this, I start getting local, you know?
Oh yeah, this is busting guys.
That's amazing, guys.
All right, guys. Look at this. It's crazy up in here. Oh my god.
Just going into it. Let's just Let's just get into it. Let's just get into it.
Phenomenal like always, guys.
Phenomenal.
Phenomenal.
All right, I'll hit the wings right now.
I swear to guys, I'll I'll hit the wings right now. All right.
Oh yeah.
Let's just hit the wings straight away, guys. Straight away.
Look. Oh my god. Look at this. Look at this.
That's crazy. I don't know if you can see it, but that's freaking crazy.
All right, I'm going to try I'm going to try the sweet honey barbecue rub. I had never tried it before. Are those a spicy Korean?
Let me see.
See one, two.
Look at this guys.
Mr. That's where it's at. That is where it's at.
That was pretty good, honestly. Pretty pretty good.
Try the the hot mango. My favorite right here. My favorite. All right, we're going to do it like this.
I'm going to do it like this, guys.
Yeah.
That's the only stuff I love.
Mango has got to be the most popular flavor there if I'm not mistaken. It's always bomb.
You get a bit you get a little bit of that sweet and it's spicy, you know.
Obsession.
Directed written by Curry Barker. After breaking the mysterious one-wish Willow to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for, but soon discovers that some desires come in a dark, sinister price.
Guys, guys, I haven't felt like this honestly in a while. What I'm about to say, I truly enjoyed the experience of watching Obsession. I honestly felt exactly what the title suggests. I just was so obsessed about the whole movie and I was just blown away especially, you already know me performances. Indie Navarete, she absolutely demolishes the screen with her performance. I've never seen her in anything before before this.
And in this movie, she was truly a standout. the way she was just one balancing drama and comedy as the whole movie does. Applaud the whole crew and the cast how they handled that cuz it could have easily I think it could have easily gone one way or the other. Could have been too silly, but also I could have seen it like taken itself too seriously. And thank thank goodness they found a middle ground between those two because I think that just made it a more enjoyable watch. And with her, it just felt so natural. And especially with those scenes when she was, you know, not to obviously I'm not going to spoil the whole movie because it's in the trailer, but when she's like quoteunquote possessed, she plays it differently than most of those kinds of movies. I found this to be very compelling where she played it as a victim cuz in the story she is, you know, I know it's probably going to spark a huge debate. I honestly think it's a kind of the same debate as that movie Summer where is Summer the villain or is it Tom? You know, we all have our thoughts on that. And then this one, it's pretty more it's more self-explanatory. I think it is she is the victim and you know, and the main protagonist, which by the way kills as well. He's the villain, right? Not giving away too much, but if you watch it, y'all y'all know what I mean. But I was I was just blown away. This was a fantastic movie. I want to see I want to see it again. Like immediately immediately. I have to go watch it again cuz that was some good stuff right there.
I truly haven't felt like that in a while, guys. Like that has been such a good experience. I There were scenes where I was like just taken a back. I was like, whoa, that was disturbing. And to me, that's the greatest aspect of a horror movie. Not necessarily like I want to get scared, but I just want to feel like it gets under my skin. And it's something that's so I think the scariest part is when it feels grounded. Like I feel like it could happen in real life. And there was one moment, one scene in there. Well, giving away too much. She's in the corner and the way she contorts her face. Oh, that's when I was like, whoa, that that's getting to me. I might not sleep tonight. Her face was contorting almost like a like an old person. Almost like a in a witch way. And oh, that was that was crazy.
By the way, again, the the barbecue the sweet Korean barbecue rub so good.
Salty, but not too salty.
It's a It's some good seasoning right there.
Especially with the ranch. It's like you always got to get the ranch. I feel like that's the whole point of Wings Stop, too. If you don't get the ranch, it's like what are you doing, you know?
Oh, and I got some cheese sauce. Let me bring it out. Look.
Let me try it with that.
Just curious about it. Y'all know how much I love cheese, so right here.
I'm going try the sandwich. I haven't tried the sandwich in a while.
I think last time I got like a lemon pepper if I'm not mistaken. That was like one of my beginning videos actually. So, another thing I didn't expect the movie to be as funny as it was.
I mean, I don't really know what I was expecting, but I was I was cracking up.
I was like, that's actually kind of funny. Just the characters like especially the best friend of the main guy. He was such so mean, kind of a bully. There's times where he's unlikable, but most of the time I'm like, "Okay, this guy's pretty funny, you know?" It's like makes you root for him, but also like he does things where it's like, "Wow, really? You're gonna do that? That's crazy." But, you know, I think he's such a I' I've never seen him and I know him and Curry Barker were they were on the come up. They used to do uh online YouTube skits and that's how they kind of got their that's how they got to collab on this. So, he was like, I know the perfect guy. And then Hires is like what I think is like his best friend.
So, that's that that's the dream. That's the dream, honestly. All right. We're going to try it like that. And then we're just going to go ahead. All right.
I do wish there was some some like cheese on it or something other than just bread, chicken, and pickles, but it's still bomb. It's still bomb. I think at that point it'd be like a full sandwich, you know.
Oh, listen.
I'm calling it, guys. This this is this this movie is is already a classic. It's already going to be a cult classic. It's going to be go down in history.
It's going to have the same reputation as Hot Take Exorcist. Like, it's it's going to be that legendary legendary more than it already is right now. I mean, to have a $750,000 budget and it making grossing over 16 million is that's phenomenal, guys. We haven't seen that in a while. That's it's giving us it's giving cinema hope, you know? So, we should be really happy about that, guys. Like, in the state of the industry, like that's that's giving us hope.
Got to dig into these fries.
These fries, guys.
My greatest fear with these fries, I thought they were going to be dry cuz I think the last time I got them, they were a little dry.
It was like my phone in high school, you know, just super dry.
See here?
guys. I'm loving it.
Look at this. I thought they were going to skim me on the in the tenders to be honest cuz sometimes I usually they usually do but at this time they treated me right Like guys, I was truly eating up everything, every moment, every scene in that movie.
I didn't want it to end. I was just like, "Oh, what else is going to happen?" Oh, oh, oh. You know, shout out Shout out to the whole team.
Shout out to Curry Barker, Andy Navarete, Michael Johnston, like phenomenal. Phenomenal. I want to support everybody. I'm going to support everybody's I'm going to follow everybody after um after the movie on their social media cuz they all such great talents.
Like truly guys, if there's anything that all the out of all these videos, go watch Obsession. That's you got to that you got to See, the sandwich I think only works when you get original buffalo cuz otherwise it's just too dry of a sandwich. So that's a hot take. I don't think it is but Oh. All right, guys. We're almost finished. We almost finished. Let me try the me get more of the cheese sauce cuz it's getting it's getting neglected, you know.
I don't know. I don't know where it's about today. Like seemed like everything was cooked to like order. That was This is really good. Tastes fresh, you know.
It falls apart easy, you know.
Thank you, Winkop. Thank you. That was This is This is I'm really enjoying this.
Almost finished, guys.
Although, who knows, guys? I might might call it early.
It's a lot of food, guys. Come on. Don't get mad at me. It's a lot of food.
I always try to guess if I'm going to, you know, order a good amount, but I just never get it right.
Honestly, A good movie to compare the tone and atmosphere of this is Hereditary. And Hereditary was very foundational for me in that was my entry into horror to be honest because before that I said on my last video they didn't really care about horror movies. I was like ah not for me not for me right but watching Hereditary I was like whoa I didn't know you can make movies like that. That opened up my mind. I that's when I started discovering great foreign horror movies.
Oh more wing left.
But guys, that's Go watch it. Go watch it, guys. Trust me, I don't want to miss out on that experience. It's going to be way different if you watch it on streaming VOD, like in the theater. You got to watch it in the theater.
I already can't wait for the Blu-ray, though. That Blu-ray is going to be crazy. I wonder what the steelbook would look like or or the Criterion if it I think it deserves a Criterion at this point. A Criterion release. That'll probably take a while, but I'm here for it. I'll pre-order it. I'm down. I I'm going to buy all of it.
One last swing. One last swing right here.
Oh, it's good.
Last bite, guys. Last bite.
And I think that'll be it, man.
Dunzo, I already love this episode because we already got good food, a good movie to review, and even better, good company.
So, thank you guys. Thank you guys for watching. I think that's going to be it for me. Um, please catch Obsession while you can in the theaters. It's so good.
Indie, indie filmmakers all the way.
I've been loving the rise of indie filmmakers from like YouTube. Like all these guys, Kane Parsons, Curry Barker, uh Markiplier, and only to name a few, the ones I can think of right now, but have transitioned from YouTube into film making and then their movie being a big hit. I mean, Rocka Rocka like all these guys, these for me, especially for me, it's very inspirational. I'm very proud of the team, the crew, the casting crew.
You guys deserve every acclaim that's heading your way. I cannot wait for you guys' future and I'll be watching again soon. So, let me know what food and uh movie you guys want me to see. So, yeah, it's going to be a good time. I know the back rooms is going to come out soon, so I already know I'm going do a video on that. But, oh, let me know. Let me know what food you guys want me to pair up backrooms with. I don't know. That's going to be a good episode, too. So, thank you guys.
And uh catch you on the next one. Have a good week. All right. Peace.
