Tyrannosaurus rex was a massive bipedal carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, characterized by its enormous skull, powerful hind limbs, and surprisingly strong forelimbs with two clawed digits; it was among the largest known land predators with an estimated length of 12.3-13 meters, hip height of 3.7-4 meters, and mass of 8.8 tons, possessing the largest bite force of any terrestrial animal, and most likely functioned as both an apex predator and scavenger, preying on hadrosaurs, ceratopsians, ankylosaurs, and possibly sauropods.
