This case highlights a legal system that prioritizes procedural integrity over the nuances of mental health, resulting in a staggering 35-year sentence for a first-time offender. It is a sobering reminder that the law often punishes the interference with its process more harshly than the complex circumstances of the individual.

There Is Something Wrong With Methany.....Added:
Friends, today's Muppet is Nicole Max.
Now, her roommate was found dead. Police have her as a suspect. I'm going to start with her being taken to the police station.
All right, we're going to go across the hall, please.
I'm freezing in here.
I know. Hey, Wallace.
Cold in here. Yeah.
Okay.
All right, I am freezing, so I would appreciate that.
Okay. You want to take your shorts off and put these on?
Um I will Are you watching me as another evidence? Yeah, that's evidence. Okay.
So, I'm going to put them in this bag here. That's a nice shirt. Yes, ma'am. I don't know what that says. Okay.
>> shirt. I got those sunglasses. I don't know about Costa. I don't even have a Costa shirt. I don't know about Costa.
Well, now you do. Yeah, I like the butterfly. You saw I got the scroll and butterfly right here. Yeah, it's the blue eyed butterfly and then yeah, that's my thing. Yeah, you got it going on.
All right. I don't know about Costa, but I'll find out maybe one day.
Hey, Wallace. Hello. Where would you like for her to Would you like for her to wait here? All right. All right.
Yeah, they're going to go find me some size. What is that other officer's name?
Um Rosas? Joey?
>> I'm waiting on him. Okay, I'll let him know. Nicole, I know you were talking to Detective Rosas earlier. Yeah, he said he was going to give me the paperwork. I don't really know what it was regarding.
>> What kind of paperwork?
He wrote me something. I don't know it was. Yeah. All right.
Um I don't really recall. Okay.
So um my understanding is earlier and I will accept I'll be I got nothing to do today so I'll be happy I'll sit here and talk to you all day long.
>> Okay.
But my understanding is earlier with and maybe I don't I don't know why. I don't know exactly what happened um but at some point you said you told Detective Ross that you don't want to talk anymore. No, yeah I didn't I didn't comprehend. So that's why I didn't feel comfortable talking and uh with how he was reading it and I need to So let's we'll finish what you're doing and then we'll Yeah, I just need to wipe my eye cuz I had a mega binder something, you know.
What happened to your eye? Uh nothing just a mascara and everything. Yeah, just had a rough one. I hate when mascara gets in my eye. Oh, yes. Yeah.
Um yeah and nothing like horrific or anything just you know. All right. So I know earlier when you were talking to Detective Ross that you guys were on the side of the road, you know, there was probably cars driving it was whatever.
Now that we're here, okay, you have we're having some coffee together. Yeah.
All right. Um but like I said I know you told Detective Ross that you don't want to talk anymore. Maybe you maybe you wanted to that you wanted an attorney but you just had maybe you didn't comprehend what he was saying. Yeah, we didn't talk and So I like I said I'll be happy to sit with you and talk to you and explain everything to you. Um when I opened the door I was just going to explain to you what was going on and you said you wanted to talk to me. Is that correct? I just want to listen cuz I don't I don't recall what's going on.
So I have no idea really but Yeah, so I want him to repeat it to when he picked me up I wasn't He picked you up? No, no he picked me up.
>> Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. You know, like he's driving on the side of the road and stuff.
Okay. And all the cops like you said all the cops coming in and I'm looking around anything like this like I have no clothes on right now. Well, like I said, I will be happy to talk to you all day long. I will explain everything to you.
Yeah.
You know what I mean? This is obviously I think this is a better a better setting to have a to have a discussion.
>> Oh, did you say you were going to take these off? No, those can't come off. Oh, that's why I said >> They're more comfortable but because you're being cooperative now, you know, they >> So, you guys just arrest me instead of investigating. So, let me explain that So, you let me explain that to you, okay?
>> Okay. But be because earlier you mentioned to Detective Roses that that you wanted an attorney. I'm going to Have you ever been arrested before?
Yeah, but not really No, like not for anything.
>> Nothing crazy?
>> No, not where like we had to do that. I don't even know what this is consisting of.
>> Okay. Are you familiar with your your constitutional rights or your Miranda rights? Um No.
>> Okay. No, okay. So, I do remember a problem there. Okay, cuz I do have postmates stripes and actually I've had a driver's license issues and then I also had a salt and battery dropped down to a misdemeanor. Okay.
So, obviously whenever you're whenever you're whenever you're talking to the police in certain situations, there are some things that we have to inform you of your rights. So, I'm going to read and this Okay. So, I'm going to read them to you, okay?
All right. So, Nicole, you have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence against you.
You have a right to >> Okay, I see. Yeah, that's I The right to remain silent and what to be used against me? Anything that you say can be used as evidence against you. Oh, okay.
All right. I understand. I Yeah. You understand that?
Mhm. The evidence can be used against you. Yeah. I'm not I'm not going to agree with that cuz I don't know what evidence is being used against me.
>> I know what what I'm saying is say right now if you were to tell me that you you know, you killed JFK, that could be used >> I wouldn't have ever said anything like that. I wouldn't have said anything like that. Yeah, but or if you said you stole, you know, a candy bar from Wawa.
I'm not a crazy person, so I don't see that happening. Okay, very good.
>> Okay. All right. All right, thank you.
>> Nicole, you also have a right to an attorney and have him or her with you now or at any time during questioning.
If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you.
>> [clears throat] >> Okay?
If at any time you wish to stop talking, like we're talking now, if at any time you wish to stop talking and or have an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Does that make sense?
Um, a little bit, a little bit, yeah.
So, at my request it can be >> Yeah. Yeah, if anything somebody requested something, it can be stopped.
Yeah. Absolutely. Okay, so I have a good understanding.
>> you understand those those those those rights that I just read you? Do you understand them?
I have an idea of what they are.
>> Okay.
With those rights in mind, do you want to speak to me right now? No, no, I do not. No, no, I want an attorney cuz I don't No clue what's going on. Okay.
Yeah, at all. Okay. At all. All right.
Okay.
Like I don't even know why I'm here.
Yeah, like that's what I'm saying. I have no clue why I'm even here.
So, I don't recall. And Okay, so What is his name? Cuz I do have post-traumatic stress, but the thing is What [clears throat] is his name?
He was I believe it was I don't recall his name, but uh Joey?
Joey, maybe it was Joey. Yeah, Joey, possibly. He um even had me ask his name back and then, you know. And with that um He even we talked for quite a bit, you know, and we went back and forth and he just said that uh He just kept He came back. He left the scene and then came back like twice or something where he pulled up and everything. So, I believe it was Joey who read me my rights.
>> Yep. Okay, so yeah, him. And he's like, "Do you remember my name?" And I was like, "Yeah, it's Joey, you know?" So, that's what that was about. Yeah. So, that's that.
So, I'm glad that we got that covered and taken care of. Yep. All right, thanks. What are you talking to me next say? Uh it's it's um it's some things that I wouldn't like to talk about.
Yeah.
What kind of Yeah, just some old biker stuff. Oh.
Yeah, yeah. And then with that, um I look like a hot mess. Like I said, I was walking. You saw the clothes I was in when they picked me up. I'm like, yeah.
So, I was kind of out there a little bit, so. I don't All right, good that we talked.
Okay.
>> What else do you want to talk about?
>> Um >> Well, anything that's regarding this, I need an attorney. I don't know how to go about an attorney. I don't know. I've never been in trouble with the law with one. I don't have a job right now.
Um I would like an attorney that I have talked to you about this attorney in my city.
Uh >> [clears throat] >> No, well, like I said, an attorney will be um an attorney will be provided to you.
>> Okay, I would like one that I can get one that's a paid one possibly, not a state- state-appointed one, you know? I would like to have choices. But like I said, I have no money and no funds, so I don't know how to go about this, you know?
That's it.
But I don't want to say anything about anything cuz I don't know what's going on.
Okay.
Um So, obviously, you know, so you're going to you're going to go to jail today, okay? Oh, okay, for what though?
>> For for tampering with evidence and tampering with evidence, and I believe resisting arrest. Okay? I never resist arrest, and I wasn't tampering with evidence. I don't even know what evidence would be here with me. Okay.
So, I don't recall. On a side note, like I said, we don't have to talk about that. I want to make sure you're okay.
Looks like you have some scratches on your arm.
>> Yeah, I have no clue what I'm here for.
Yeah.
>> Yeah, like Yeah, I do have a lot of things on my body and arms and stuff like that. So, um these are self-made. I did these to myself.
>> Um I've been Okay. I just wanted to make sure you weren't victimized while you were out on the streets or anything, you know, no one >> Um I don't believe so. Okay. I just wanted to make sure no one hurt you.
Okay. Yeah, yeah. I'm all right. Thank you for asking. How's your coffee? I haven't tried it yet. I haven't tried it yet. I'll let's see.
So, Oh, yeah, like right here I got bruises and stuff, too. Where are those from?
Um I don't recall.
I don't recall.
Okay. What biker gang did you used to be a part of?
>> part of a gang. Okay.
>> I'm not in a biker gang. Okay. You used to hang around with one?
>> Yeah. What gang? Um I'm just curious. It has nothing to do with what we It has nothing to do with what's going on. I'm just curious.
>> No, and I wouldn't like to discuss it right now. Okay. Okay, but I'm not part of a biker gang or anything like that, or wasn't around anything. I was um Yeah.
All right. Just somebody I knew. All right.
So, um >> [clears throat] >> Okay, so I'm a little confused. Like I said, you keep saying you don't want to talk, but then you say because you don't know what's going on. Yeah, and I Do you Do you want to Do you want to know what's going on? Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, I want to listen. I don't want to speak. Clear enough.
So, the gentleman the gentleman that you live with, Mhm. um Michael? What do you know What do you call him? Michael?
Mike? Mike. We don't talk very much.
He's only We talked only a little bit here and there. Okay. Yeah, yeah. All right.
Um >> [clears throat] >> So, he was at some point last night he was murdered.
Oh.
Okay. Okay. Well, what does that have to do with those charges that you just said?
I don't I didn't know anything about this. Okay.
>> This first time I heard anything.
And like that's why I like said a while like, okay, really? But, um You said two other charges. You said tampering with the evidence and then something else. Resisting arrest.
>> I didn't resist arrest. That lady was mean to me. That's where these came from. Who?
>> Look at this. That lady. I don't know.
She was a police officer from Holly Hill.
>> Holly Hill officer.
>> hurting. She just looking like this and I'm like, oh, okay, you know, like, what? And and the other officer was there. Let me think. Wallace was there.
There was a little issue.
>> nice to you?
Yeah, Wallace was. He was. There was another one that was there that, um >> [clears throat] >> I don't know, but she did this. I should write a report on that.
I'm upset, but I don't want to cause any problems.
>> Okay.
Um so, we're we're investigating the the murder of Mike.
>> Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right.
>> I don't know anything about that and like I said right now I'm kind of wound up, so I don't want to say anything about that. Okay. Okay.
So.
So, tampering evidence and resisting arrest.
>> Yeah. I would like to fight those or I'll speak on that, but I didn't resist No, no, you don't have to speak on any of that.
We're just Yeah, we'll talk more about it later once I read the report.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Joey's right there. He's right there. Like I said, I don't really remember exactly how things went down and I want to make sure they know what you know, like I do know this happened, so.
>> Yeah. Yep.
I want to make sure, you know, everything got taken care of.
Yeah. Yeah.
So now that you understand what's going on, I'm just like I said, I'm a little confused cuz you >> Me too. Me too. I'm still a little confused. Like I thought my brain kind of rattled. I'm supposed to make stress.
Um Yeah.
So now that you know that you are going to jail, like I said, for tampering with evidence, resisting arrest with that without violence, okay?
At the same time, you know, we're investigating what happened to Mike.
Well, I don't know. You know what I mean? And I haven't seen him. I don't know.
I'm not saying that you I'm not saying you killed Mike, but um we would like to talk to you cuz obviously you live with Mike. So you may You know what I mean? But it's up to you. So Um yeah, no, I I don't even want to discuss this any longer because um No. Okay. All right. Yeah, I just got out of the hospital. Oh, are you okay?
Yeah, that was the last time I talked to him. I had abdominal pain. Okay.
>> You know, so What happened?
Um >> What were you doing when you had your abdominal pain? I'd rather not talk about that. All right, thanks. All right. Yeah.
So he picked me up from the hospital and he got me a breakfast sandwich or he forgot my breakfast sandwich. And that was it.
He forgot your breakfast sandwich? Yeah.
I was like I had to think about it, but no, I got me a breakfast sandwich at the cafeteria. Yeah.
But yeah.
Everything okay at the hospital? You're I mean Yeah. Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. No complaints.
Do you have a smoke? Cigarettes? I don't. Is there Oh, you don't. Does anybody here smoke one? Am I able to have one? But I'm under arrest right now.
>> You are.
All right. Yeah. Yeah.
And then I have to go where after this? Jail.
Just jail? Uh-huh. Okay. I thought Is this an investigation? Yes. And this is an investigation part. Okay. All right, we're good. Yep. We're good? Yeah, I don't want to speak anymore, Dave. Okay.
All right, cool.
Thanks.
>> Cool.
Thanks for the coffee, too. No problem.
Where are you from, Daytona?
No.
Massachusetts. Oh, okay.
Where are you from?
>> [clears throat] >> Michigan, originally.
Yeah.
Been here on and off for about 4 or 5 years. That's it. How many?
Uh 7 years on and off. Yeah.
Cool. Yeah.
Can I get socks, Dave? I need socks.
We gave you socks. No, these are slippers. I want socks. Those are like slippers. I'm freezing.
>> Those are like sock slippers.
Yeah. That's all we have. Yeah.
Okay. Sock slippers.
Yeah.
Sockers. Yeah.
Oh, that's what these are called? I have no idea. I just made that up. Yeah. All right. They're warm, I suppose.
>> [clears throat] >> Right here.
Yeah.
They're freezing. Oh.
Yeah, I just want to let you discuss anything else before my attorney.
What is that red button for, Dave? Don't know. You don't know?
Seems kind of dangerous, don't you think?
Huh.
Okay.
Don't think I've ever noticed it before.
Oh, okay.
I got an itch.
Yeah, of course.
Um >> All right, Nicole. You need anything else?
>> No. Okay. All right. Um we're going to have a couple officers bring you walk you downstairs, get you out, and then get you to the jail, okay?
Um may I have another coffee before then? Because when I get there, I can't have anything. Yeah. So, what can I have before I get there? Nothing.
We usually don't give food.
We usually don't uh give coffee, but uh we just kind of made an exception, but there's no more >> No, I appreciate it. There's no more coffee. Yeah. I drank it. I had the last cup. Yeah. All right. So, we'll uh like I said, have a couple officers walk you down and get you up to the jail and all that good stuff, okay? Um yeah, if I can just have a moment, that'd be fine.
Okay. All right. Yeah, I would like to read Well, actually, I need to talk to uh detective Joey? Yeah, Joey because he has my papers, and I haven't read my report.
So, no, I'm not comfortable going to jail yet because I don't know my stuff.
What stuff?
>> going on.
Uh he was supposed to bring me a copy of my report.
>> Okay. Yeah. All right.
Well, we can't really talk to you anymore because you keep saying you want an attorney. Oh, but he wrote You when you >> I can't read my report.
>> You'll get a You'll get a copy of the report after you get after you go to court.
>> I don't understand why I'm going to jail for it, so >> you tampering with evidence, Okay.
tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest with our violence, okay? Um the tampering with evidence, I Do you want me to explain it to you?
I suppose I'll wait. Okay.
>> Or you can explain it to me. Okay. Um so, you were informed when you were stopped uh by the Crystal you were stopped by um a Daytona Beach officer and a Holly Hill and then you were detained by the Holly Hill officer.
Um you were informed that we were conducting an investigation and we were getting a search warrant to take certain things of evidence from you such as a swab of your mouth, photo, fingerprints, scrapings. You had some blood on you we were swabbing, okay? Cuz obviously you're you're a person of interest in a in the homicide of Mike. So you were told that you were being detained pending the us obtaining a search warrant for those items. At that point you told Officer Pitman that you were thirsty. She gave you her >> own drink, a Mountain Dew.
>> Yeah, I was so You were very thirsty, right?
Yet you dumped that over your body. You said one more drink.
Which to us was pretty clear that you were trying to destroy any evidence that WAS ON YOU. OH, YOU KNOW, I was so hot.
Maybe that's what that was about where she thought I was resisting. I wasn't resisting and you guys have my clothing.
Yep. Yeah, I am. So that's where the tampering That's where the tampering with evidence charge comes with. You were told to stop and you didn't and that's the resisting part, okay?
Um so you were obviously doing things to to I don't recall that part. But with the soda with the soda I remember that but my temperature body I just felt so hot like I got to pour this on me most definitely.
Well, most people when they're hot they don't pour soda over them. Oh, it was so cold. Well, they were making me get rid of it.
I don't recall it having to have the video. So RC, so you were interfering with our investigation in the in the murder of Mike. So that's what you're going to jail for, okay?
All right.
So when you go out to the jail um if when things settle down like I said if you want to talk to either myself or Joey or Jason, just let the people at the jail know and we'll come out and talk to you. Okay?
>> Yeah, I think. All right.
So, that's the end of her police interview. Now, I'm going to go back to where she was first found. Here's the body cam footage. I'm going to tell you you when you just told me over there, you said you said to me something that that that sparked my interest.
>> What was that?
>> Well, you told me that you were homeless and that uh you didn't know the person I had showed you. I live I told you that No, I do not. Yeah, I but I'm telling you >> at a house. But you told me you were homeless for 4 years.
>> Yes. And then when I showed you a photo of a of a man named Mike, you said you don't know who he is and then you said and then you change your story and tell me you you did.
>> I do know him. He looks like the other Mike. Okay. But then I also told you I don't feel good. Me neither. But you also told me you also told me you haven't seen him in days and the next thing you know, you tell me you saw him after the uh after the hospital after the hospital.
>> I live there. What were you guys doing after the hospital? What was he doing?
What was he doing when you got home from the hospital?
>> know what he was doing. Okay. But okay.
Was he walking around?
Was he telling you? Was he talking to you? Did he talk to you about anything?
No, we don't talk. I just talk to him once in a he's my roommate. Hm? He's my roommate and I just talk to him once in a while and I live there.
>> When's the last time you talked to him today?
>> Sometimes I come out in the streets and I hang out in the streets for a couple of days at a time or what not.
>> Yes. So, that's what that is. Okay.
Okay. So, so what What was your last conversation with Mike?
Can you get me a burger?
Is that what he said? Yeah, a sandwich burger. Where at? A breakfast burger.
From where? Hm? Okay. From where? Um Race Trac or something. I don't know.
And that that's is Did you go and get him a burger?
>> Yeah, I live there. No, he got me one and brought to the hospital.
Okay, today? Yeah. Okay. Was that before you So, did he pick you up from the hospital? Yes. Okay. And then we went back home and then I was back on the streets.
Okay. I told you I come out on the streets once in a while. Okay. Yeah.
>> What time did you leave the house? I don't recall. You don't remember?
>> Mhm. It's on my phone. You guys got all my stuff. So, it's on my stuff. It's on my phone. Right. Okay. Yeah.
Um So, when you left, did you leave by foot? Did you leave walk away?
>> Yes. Okay.
All right. And what did What was Mike doing at the time when you walked when you left? Was he awake? Was he sleeping?
Was he Was he walking around?
>> what he was doing. He was in the house in his room or he was on the couch or something.
>> Where's your room located at in the house? Bottom floor. Bottom floor? What If I were to walk into your home >> I am the second bedroom on the left.
>> left?
>> left. And where would Mike's bedroom be?
Upstairs. Um If I were to go upstairs, would his bedroom be on the >> right. Would his bedroom be on the when I walk up the stairs? Would it be on the left or would it be on the right?
Right. He would be on the right.
>> Okay. Yeah. Okay. This is inside of his bedroom. Have you ever been inside there? No. No. No. No. No. Never. Uh-uh.
No. I've never been in his room. Never been into his room?
>> Mhm. I barely go upstairs. Okay. You barely go. Did you go upstairs tonight?
No. I have some spiders up there I feed them. So, it's probably like during the daytime.
>> So, you don't go up there, but now you're saying you do go up there to feed the spiders? Yeah. I have a room upstairs and I have a room downstairs. I have a room upstairs with three spiders.
And then I had exercise stuff in there.
>> What kind of spiders? Tarantulas. Oh.
Yeah. Yeah. They're actually pretty cool.
All right.
What do you feed them?
>> [clears throat] >> Crickets. Do you like And water.
So, yeah. So, that's what that was.
>> them today at least?
No, I haven't fed them in a while. I gave them water.
>> Oh my god. You gave them water today?
>> Yeah. Okay. Ow. My feet are hurting. Can we back up a little bit? They're just hurting my foot.
Cuz I don't have socks. So I tell you what. Here. How about you How about just Come here. Come here. Just lean No, you're not going in here. Just lean up here. No, no, no. Come here.
Come here. I'm not comfortable with that.
>> on here. I want to be right here. Oh.
I'm not comfortable with that.
>> Okay, come here. Come here. You're not going that close to the water.
>> Okay, well, I'm not running. I said call my phone.
I can't run on my feet.
Okay.
Yeah. However you Nicole, whatever makes you feel comfortable.
You gave your torrential was at least water tonight.
>> Yeah. Okay. During the day. During the day.
>> Yeah. Okay. That's after you >> phone has everything that you're talking about on it. Like what? My information.
That's the information I'm talking about.
What is it?
I don't know.
You sure? What was that? Cell phone with that? My phone. Yeah. Yeah.
What happened before you left though?
Nothing. Nothing? Yeah. Was it night time before you left?
Was it night time or was it day time before you left the house? Yeah, it was night time.
>> It was night time? Yeah. Would you say it was it around midnight?
I have no clue. I have no clue about that. How well It'll be on my phone with the memory and everything. How did you get from here to from your house to here? Foot. You walked? Yeah, I walked on foot.
That's why my feet are hurting.
>> walk How did you walk? Did you go to Richwood? No. You You Did you cross over the tracks or anything like that?
Okay, so I left. Mhm.
I was at the house though.
He took me He took me He picked me up from the hospital. He took me to the house.
I was there.
And then I was upstairs with the sweaters. I hear him watering. That was later on in the day. Yeah. I cleaned my room earlier that day. Okay. And then after that I um came back out.
And I walked over here to the bridge.
And then I walked this way towards the park.
And that was that. That's it? And then I walked back this way and you guys picked me up. Yeah. So whatever time you guys picked me up at, around that time. I see. Mhm.
Did you have any kind of um was there any kind of argument with Mike? No, never. I've only talked to Mike once or twice.
Like well, not once or twice, but we don't talk often. He's very quiet. Very quiet guy. Mhm. Yeah.
Was there anybody uh anybody else in uh at the house visiting with you? No. Just you? Mhm.
>> And just Mike? Yes.
Do you have Do you ever have visitors come over and visit?
Very rarely. Very rarely. What about Mike?
Very No. No? No. He's kind of by himself? Yeah. I see. I see. Yeah.
Okay. And um so the only people that were there at your house tonight was Mike, you and Mike?
>> You know you have cameras all in that house, right?
That's fine. Okay.
Okay.
What do you think the cameras are going to show?
I don't know what you're talking about.
I don't know. I mean I'm just saying >> three cameras outside. Yes, ma'am. Okay.
I'm aware. Okay.
I'm aware. Okay.
But are the cameras going to show you leaving the house by yourself? Yeah.
I'm always by myself.
Do you always carry a knife and a hammer with you?
No.
Yes, a knife, yeah.
Yeah. Why were you carrying a hammer then tonight?
Because I found something in the closet.
In whose closet?
Mine.
You keep You keep hammers in your closet? No.
No, not my closet, the work closet. So.
Yeah.
And that's that. Yeah. Yeah.
I always have knives on me though. Yeah, but you you always have knives on you.
Yeah.
But tonight you decided to carry a a hammer as well. Yeah, sometimes. And I also usually have like a fold out wrench and stuff, too.
I don't know what that tool is called. I forget what it's called.
>> Not a ratchet. It's like a fold out pocket one with something. Okay.
>> I forget what it's called. Yeah. Mhm.
Do you Why do you carry those by by chance?
Just out of habit. Out of habit? Yeah.
I've done it my whole life.
Yeah, you carry knives and Yeah.
>> hammers. Yeah.
And fold out ratchets or something.
Yeah.
Are you afraid of something?
I'm afraid of a lot of stuff all the time. But why?
Why?
I don't You want to tell me You want to tell me what happened with Mike? If you don't mind.

So, after that interview, I think she was released from jail and then a month later police picked her up after a warrant. Now, watch this. They're going to troll her so hard. But you notice how different she looks? Was this on purpose to hide? But take a look at this. I really want to do something when I get there. You know in jail you don't have time to wake your ass up at 4:00 4:00 what? 4:00 a.m.
Lunch is at 9:00.
It's like, "What the fuck?"
Oh my god. Yeah, never been. Huh? He said never been. You should go.
It's a fantastic fantastic place.
>> Sounds like it.
>> Yeah, you'll enjoy it.
Enjoy it.
Would you like to spend your That's your life there? No. No.
Neither would I don't eat until 4:00.
So, let me summarize this case. The Daytona Fire Department received a call to go to Clark's Street. They had They knew of an activated fire alarm. Now, when the crew arrived, they immediately noticed smoke coming from both floors.
The front door was unlocked. So, then the firefighters went in. Now, in the first bedroom on the left side of the hallway, they discovered a man lying on the floor. There was blood near his head.
And then they realized, well, something more is going on. This isn't just a fire. And unfortunately, 20 minutes after the firefighters got there, he would be identified as 79-year-old Michael Serasoli. They looked at Michael's body, and he had multiple puncture wounds across his torso. This is consistent with being stabbed by a bladed weapon.
But the violence didn't stop there.
His head showed signs of blunt force trauma, indicating he had been struck repeatedly with a heavy object. Now, for police, blood evidence told much of the story. There was a trail of blood that led from outside the residence up the stairs and into the second floor bedroom where Michael had been found. Near the bed, police discovered a large pool of blood, suggesting this is where the primary attack occurred. Now, the blood patterns indicated Michael had been assaulted in his bedroom, and then he tried to escape, but he had been prevented from doing so.
Investigators then found multiple knives of varying sizes and hammers, even golf clubs, in the house. It seemed they had been used in the attack. The presence of so many weapons suggested a frenzied, sustained assault. Methany, what the hell is wrong with you? But then, to police, it seemed that the uh suspect They didn't know it was Methany at the time, but the suspect deliberately started a fire so they could obscure the true cause of the death. When police looked at the house, there had been prior incidents. There was a domestic violence call in April 2022 when Nicole and Michael Alvarez, he's the owner, they had a bit of a dust-up and the police came. So, at this moment, this is where police were like, "Okay, we need to go find Nicole." And that's when they patrolled the streets and they found her. And that's where the body cam footage comes from. And of course, as soon as police found her, they saw the look on her face, they saw the way she was acting.
They were aware she knew why they are there. This to them suggested consciousness of guilt. She wasn't surprised to see police. She was attempting to distance herself from the physical evidence linking her to the crime. But of course, she was immediately taken into custody. And when they were speaking to her on the way, police learned details of her mental health. She was reportedly taking quetiapine. I probably said that incorrectly.
This is an anti-psychotic medication used to treat conditions including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
And this information of course is quite relevant to both understanding her mental state, but also her legal defense. You get it? However, despite all of this, the judge told her, "Shut your mouth, young lady. There's nothing wrong with you." And she was sentenced to 35 years in prison. And look at how she looks in prison. It's like a completely different person.
Unfortunately, we don't actually know what her motive was. Police never learned this. So, the only best way to describe why she did what she did is cuz she's a muppet.
Let me know what you think.
Right in here.
Okay, well, we're both going now.
I didn't say you were, but we're both going.
Come on.
Nothing from you.
You can give me my wallet. You sure?
Excuse me.
Do you have my wallet? I will. I will put it in the car. I'll finish doing what I'm doing. Thank you. I don't have a reason I want to get blood all over the wall.
I know. I think so.
You don't want to sit? No, ma'am. Okay, well, you don't have to right now, but eventually you're going to have to.
No.
Okay.
Yes, ma'am. Thank you.
Calm down.
I'm telling myself, you're okay.
>> You're okay.
You're okay. Okay.
I appreciate that.
So, I do need to swab a couple more spots on your leg. So, would you rather stand or sit?
Stand. Okay.
Try and stand as still as you can so I don't touch you.
>> [snorts] >> Huh? My toe. Yeah. I know. Okay. I think I'm going to calm down.
You can take a little recess while you're waiting, but take as long as you need.
Give it a few hours. Perfect.
Do you need anything else? I do not. I appreciate you very much.
I don't really think I need to.
Okay.
I'm going to go wash my baby warm them.
Uh-huh.
All right, so what?
You think I'm going to be I'm not touching you. I know.
But I told you you can stand, but I told you you have to stand still or it's going I'll show you what the officer is doing.
Okay, don't take those off, please. Why, ma'am? Cuz I don't want you to be naked with me.
You don't like that? No, I don't. Okay.
May I help you?
Hey.
Oh, okay.
I can get someone else to help me or you can be cooperative. No, please. Get someone else to help. You want someone else to help me?
>> Yeah.
Can a detective come in here and help me get a vehicle from her?
Oh.
May I get one of those for my ears?
Please.
Yeah, thanks. Can I do your mouth first?
You put something on there and I don't feel comfortable. Nothing's been on it.
I don't feel comfortable.
>> open a new one?
I'll give you one for your ears if you let me do your mouth. Okay, breathe in.
All right, I'll do it. No, I do the mouth. No, no, no, no. Yes.
Why do we have to do that? What is that for? Part of my processing. Okay. Okay, breathe in. Ah.
All right.
What's that say? Uh-huh.
Thank you.
You ready to write it down yet?
No.
Can I have one for my ears, please?
Mhm, when I'm finished.
Do your ears hurt?
Do your ears hurt? Yeah, everything hurts.
Everything hurts.
Me too.
All right, can you give me a wet one for my mouth, please? Yes, ma'am. See, ow, you cut me. No, I don't have anything to cut you. Oh, okay.
I'm not doing anything.
You're not doing anything? No.
